Avatar n tn I am afraid that I have developed osteoarthritis in my hands, esp. in the thumb joint. I experience pain up to 5 on 1/10 scale, but not swelling. After I ride my bike my hands hurt for several days, maybe the handlebar is too big around. The symptoms developed shortly after I broke my wrist (Collies fracture) two years ago. I realize that if I have this problem it isn't going away. How do I keep the damage to a miminim? I use Ibuprofen for pain with fair results.

Avatar f tn I have osteoarthritis in my back and hips. The physiotherapist has given me exercises to help with the pain. Best thing is to keep active, if you can. Hopefully the ortho will help, and a rheumatologist, like I have seen, will help you cope with the arthritis.
Avatar m tn / I knew my condition was bad b/c of the amount of pain I am in but wasn't expecting that especially @ 32 with a 4 yr old and 7 month old!! Anyways, he adviced pain meds and synvisc-one injections until we couldn't control the pain enough. I tried the injections. I won't lie the are a bit painful. My right one was just uncomfortable. The left one hurt way worse. I have no idea why but it even swelled up and I had to stay off it about 24 hours b/c of all the fluid on it.
Avatar m tn I have osteoarthritis all down my back and I have spinal stenosis because of it.
Avatar m tn Can back ddd cause neck grinding with pain. Also knee grinding with pain? Plus right elbow grinding with pain. Also feet problems.
Avatar m tn My question is whether anyone can tell me if osteoarthritis in the lower spine can cause grabbing, debilitating pain that causes the patient to cry out it is so severe. These pains act like pinched nerves, but MRS and Neurological testing shows no nerve damage from the spine. The regular arthritis pain increases gradually when the patient is walking and prevents walking altogether after about 15 yards. The grabbing pain is additional to the regular pain. The only relief for the pain is sitting.
Avatar n tn m wondering if your doctor was being creative in saying you have osteoarthritis which is the type of arthritis associated with age or over use of a joint.
Avatar m tn knee osteoarthritis . Is electrical nerve stimulation(tens) an effective therapy for providing pain relief?
Avatar f tn I think that thigh atrophy and tight calf muscle would definitely pull things out of their normal position, causing extra wear and tear. I think osteoarthritis is less of a bummer than rheumatoid, so maybe it could just be a bow on your neat single package. Kathy I would LOVE to wrap up everything in a nice single package! I have so much going on that I totally confuse my doctors. I get confused myself, trying to figure it all out so I can make the most out of my life.
7486852 tn?1410352184 I have osteoarthritis in my knees but I need a to have my hips, wrists/hands and back looked at as well the pain is disabling.. The pain in my feet, shoulders, and ribs are more of an uncomfortable feeling than actual pain, although it does get worse with movement, and the other places that hurt, hurt constantly even if I am just sitting, standing, or lying down, although lying down is when its the least painful.

Avatar f tn I love the poll on meds! Many of us have sought connections between MS and other health issues. Let's develop a list of other health issues and then poll the forum. What issues should we include? 1. thyroid 2. tachycardia/arrhythmia 3. hypertension 4. diabetes 5. gall bladder 6. arthritis 7. psoriasis 8. I'm drawing a blank, but I know there are other issues mentioned frequently on the forum?????
513154 tn?1340225289 I have a question about Osteoarthritis and the pain that comes with it. Last November I had 5, 6, and 7 upper vertebra fused together and feel so much better in that way BUT i can't take anti inflammatory medications for my Osteoarthritis, Tylenol doesn't even help a bit and non of the arthritis over the counter meds help either. My question is... is there a non narcotic pain medication that I can take every day? I am 45 years old and very healthy besides my arthritis. thank you!
Avatar m tn i was also wondering about the osteoarthritis as my dr told me that i have severe degenerative osteoarthritis of the lower spine (I forgot the numbers), hips, left shoulder and both feet. I had major surgery last summer and mesh was used to attach part of my bowel to my spine. My dr figures that this may have jump-started the arthritis issues. Currently i have probs walking, bending and overall it hurts to be on my feet for more than 20 mins at a time.
Avatar n tn I constantly have pain throuhout my entire body, including my eyes! I've gone to many doctors and am just not getting answers. I sometimes think it's MS. I've been told though that it's Fibromyalgia and I've been diagnosed in the past as having TMJ and Osteoarthritis. I have severe neck musle pain periodily, not always but it happens. My legs are sore to touch, as well as other muscles in my body.
Avatar f tn I have been having a lot of issues with my neck and back. My symptoms started when I was 22, 7 years ago. It started when I woke up one day and had this pressure on one side of my neck, right under the base of my skull and behind my ear. I had this constant feeling of needing to stretch or crack my neck all day. Well this feeling never went away. Eventually I got the pressure on the other side of my neck as well.
Avatar f tn Generalized osteoarthritis is yet another subset of osteoarthritis. Most people know the meaning of primary osteoarthritis or secondary osteoarthritis, but generalized osteoarthritis is a lesser known term. Avatar n tn HI critterhappy, the only qualifications I have to answer you're question is that I too have osteoarthritis of the lower back and possibly hips...I can't say I've ever heard or felt any 'popping' in my back....this would to me indicated that something is out of alignment perhaps?...do you feel alot of pain when this happens? Does it feel to you as if some bones are rubbing on one another?
