Common Questions and Answers about Osteoarthritis and psoriasis

4437322 tn?1354574957 I feel just lost and alone in my struggles to fight this disease. I'm so tired and angry that after all these years of dealing with fibromyalgia that no one really understand all that I go through on a daily basis. It's a struggle to get up everyday and just live. I've been feeling suicidal lately and I just can't seem to get it together. I'm just so tired of being sick. Along with the fibro I've been getting blood transfusions ever 4-6 months. Tomorrow I have to have another one.

Avatar n tn Thank you! What is psoriatic arthritis?
Avatar f tn it might actually help it. just plug infliximab and psoriasis into any search engine and you will find more info. I wish you the best of luck. another source of info for research on CD treatments is the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America at http://www.ccfa.
Avatar n tn Today I read where psoriasis and Crohn's can be related. I am a borderline Crohn's patient with psoriasis and severe arthritis in my hip and pelvic area, causing night pain; excrutiating pain in the groin, pelvic & hip area. Have to flop over in bed because it hurts for the mattress to touch that side. Also, with having DDD, do you think that nerve entrapment could be causing this or just arthritis?
Avatar n tn Googled 'images' and saw 'cherry nevus' but this is something typical of getting older, and I've had these since teens. Doesn't look like images of psoriasis I saw on web. I also have painful osteoarthritis in hips, knees, back and shoulder despite being young. If this is psoriasis I know it is connected to arthritis as I had a friend with both conditions. I also have endometriosis. I was blood tested for rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus but results were normal.
Avatar n tn I am off all anti-depressants and pain medications and feel like I'm slowly waking from a nightmare of doubt and un-certainty that was probably being caused by the drugs.
Avatar n tn I was a very healthy person. The pain began in my lower back and progressed to all my joints and entire back. When my dermatologist learned of my problems, she stopped the Accutane immediately. She stated back pain was a side effect. I read all the info before taking Accutane, and it never described these symptoms in 2001. When I was 30 years old, I had back surgery and it destroyed my back.

Avatar n tn For the last 6 months I have been getting tearing (look like paper cuts) in my vaginal area (1/4 to 1/2 inch long). I get the tears at least once or twice a week and they last from 2-4 days, go away for a few days and then come back. They continue to occur in the same locations; 1. Inside the vaginal lips on the sides almost always in the crease (between the labia minora and majora?) 2. Between the anus and vaginal opening (perineum) 3. Above the clitoris in the "hood" area.
Avatar f tn I am 37 years old and after gaining nearly 100 lbs I finally had my thyroid tested and my TSH was over 25. I was put on Levothyroxine 100 mcg's and they tested my blood 4 weeks later and my TSH was still high at over 6. I was put on 150 mcg's Levothyroxine and after around 2 weeks I felt great, nearly all my symptoms were gone. Now after being on 150 mcg's I feel good when I wake up, however, at around 230pm-4pm every day I feel absolutely horrible.
Avatar f tn There are many types of arthritis. Osteoarthritis occurs with age and overuse while rheumatoid arthritis generally affects both wrists. Psoriatic arthritis accompanies psoriasis. It is best that you check with your doctor especially with you history of psoriasis. Take care and do keep us posted.
636562 tn?1223671045 The doctors now think I'm utterly insane and have all passed it off as Osteoarthritis. And maybe it is, I just don't know, I can't get any of them to talk to me about it or really listen to me. It doesn't "feel" like I think OA would feel like, it doesn't hurt to move my fingers in normal, everyday movements.

Avatar m tn I have had blood tests for arthritis, Osteoarthritis and connective tissue disorders. All came back clear. These were all reviewed by a specialist who said there was nothing he could see that could be causing the problems. So now I have no idea what to do?? I am a 30 year old male however I feel like I'm 80. I haven't exercised in years due to my fragile joints. Can you shed some light on what may be causing these symptoms??
Avatar f tn Arthritis could be due to rheumatic fever, osteoarthritis, psoriasis, gout etc. As symmetric joints are involved and considering your age rheumatoid arthritis is common. I would suggest that you visit a orthopedician for confirmation of the cause for arthritis and there by advise on treatment. Best.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with psoriasis last year but I think I've had it for years, then a few months later I was told I had osteoarthritis after seeing a rheumy. I take meds for that and use steriod creams as required for my skin. Now I seem to have many more symptoms. I ache all over sometimes, I seem to be sensitive to the sun as I come out in hives and red blotches. I also have sore eyes and one of them is constantly red. I have been getting sores in my mouth and nose which are sometimes painful.
Avatar n tn This pain would intensify which would cause me to wince in pain and then release and then repeat all over again every 5-10 seconds for about a minute. This pain did not radiate anywhere but only within a specific point. Then this same stabbing sensation occurred half way up to the first knuckle of my right middle finger about 30 minutes later. Then immediately following this finger pain I felt pain in my right foot at the joint of my middle toe.
Avatar n tn needles sensations traveled up both arms and across the shoulders and going up past my neck and through out my head and almost feeling like it exited thru the top of my head. I lied on the floor, scared & feeling drained in those parts of my body. Eventually these feelings caught me while shopping and I was unable to lie down. I would lean on a shopping cart and let it run it's course and feeling somewhat drained of energy at the end of probably no longer than a minute.
Avatar f tn Arrhythmia, gall bladder, sleep apnea, depression, itching, some bowel and bladder issues now and then, an outbreak of migraine one summer 12 years ago and another instance this month, and since late last month my blood pressure's been too high. I've also had some joint pain and swelling issues that I have always assumed is osteoarthritis. I didn't see anyone mention tremor. I guess that's more than half a dozen.
Avatar n tn Hi all. New to this. I am a 44 year old woman who is physically fit (gym 5 days a week) and eats pretty well. Approx 5 weeks ago I developed veins showing on both hands. They have not gone away and infact they are bulging most times, and I can "feel them". They have increased and I can see some starting to climb up my forearm now. Before this, my veins barely ever showed.
Avatar f tn I have severe pain on the joint of middle finger and slight swelling on the back of hand. Also neck, entire body pain mostly early morning.
Avatar m tn It is a shame it is not already FDA approved to treat chronic pain conditions such as interstitial cystitis, osteoarthritis, aches and pains associated with aging... etc. Follow the money....once again.. .Please everyone see www.**********.com and watch the mini video series and you will see how we all age suffer, and die...and sadly, it is PREVENTABLE !!
Avatar m tn While I feel considerably better, I have continued fatigue and joint paint, knees, ankles, lumbar and cervical spine and now shoulders. I feel like I've aged 12 years in the last 2! My Rheumatologist is blaming it on Osteoarthritis. I should also say that my sed rate and wbc have been elevated for the last 2 years(34-47 and 10.5-13.5 respectively). The last time that my neck was flaring there was so much heat coming off of it that I could have used my pillow for a heating pad. I'm 59 Y.O.

Avatar f tn It is very bad over my eyebrows and cheekbones, and also over my nose and upper lip and slightly over my chin. Makeup doesn't cover it at all. I use high sunblock but it is worse in the sun. I avoid the sun whenever possible, mainly because I feel awful in sunny weather and get a headache. I've had midwifes ask if I'm pregnant because they say it looks like the rash you get in pregnancy, but it nearly disappeared during my two pregnancies.
3202871 tn?1352133377 I still have some rash/skin issues, some joint problems, and some on and off ankle, feet and lower leg edema. Most of the skin issues are greatly improved, but I still have some psoriasis type lesions. I know some others have skin issues as well. I am just hoping they improve with time and I keep trying various things to see if they work. I still have some hip and knee problems but I had some joint problems prior to Tx so some of this is not knew and is most likely just osteoarthritis.
284190 tn?1268329733 Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder that causes stiffness and pain in the joints. Osteoarthritis involves growth of bone spurs and degeneration of cartilage at a joint. It is very common in adults older than 45 and can cause joint pain. Joint pain may also be caused by bursitis (inflammation of the bursae). The bursae are fluid-filled sacs that cushion and pad bony prominences, allowing muscles and tendons to move freely over the bone.
10175413 tn?1427173851 I've been seeing a rheumatologist for a couple of years now for cpdd/pseudo gout, bursitis, and osteoarthritis. I believe my Hep C and cirrhosis caused my bone and inflammation problems; not the Sovaldi/Olysio. However, the S/O did make the pain worse for a solid six months. I think this was due to extra inflammation. I totally agree with Scottie in that the drugs they give us can make things worse. Even if you have a good liver, the new drugs like Enbrel can destroy it - or your kidneys.
