684726 tn?1228489221 i'm a big believer in natural remedies, the vitiamins are good for you, and if you take too many, you just **** out what your body doesn't absorb. lexapro is a good antidepressant, not too bad to come off of, works well with most people. I dont know what sort of ups and downs your going thru, i imagine that the holiday season may play into alot of our feelings right now. if the naturals aren't hacking it i would try the lexapro, what dose do you have? almost all patients started out of 10 mg.
Avatar f tn Hi Willow, Welcome to MedHelp's Pain Management Forum. I am glad you found us but very sorry to hear that you are having such pain at such a young age. You apparently are not from the US so treatment and medications may be different in your country. However I agree with Sandee, there are many more medications for trial before you throw in the towel. I have many allergies and intolerance's to medications.
748543 tn?1463449675 If you have followed the sequence of my other blogs about TMJ pain and TMJ Disorder in general, by now you could come to the following conclusion on your own. Dentistry is closely related to the functional and dynamic systems of the body. This relation which has been termed an “Elegant Ecology” is so intertwined that discussing one without the other would be an artificial separation of anatomy and physiology.
Avatar f tn enhances mood and neural function; promotes joint comfort and mobility; and supports liver health and detoxification. SAM-E has also been successfully used for those with osteoarthritis, depression, anxiety, fibromyalgia, bursitis, and many more conditions. Hope I kept that simple enough...I tried awful darn hard...LOL The most important thing to remember is NOT to take either of them (or 5HTP or St.
1684282 tn?1505701570 I am becoming somewhat frustrated with the way a lot of my colleagues practice medicine. Disenchanted, angry would be the other words that could be used. We all get ostensibly that same training and all of us are supposedly in it to help our patients. So, how come have I been getting so many letters lately on my addiction forum from desperate people unable to quit taking the tramadol pills that their own kind doctors have so freely prescribed for them?
Avatar f tn If you're an anxiety sufferer, other remedies are more appropriate. Also keep in mind that when using natural remedies they are usually used in combination, not singly, for best results.
Avatar n tn been on accutane fro roughly 2 months now, my skin has never been better, i was waking up to 2 or 3 new cystic spots a day even on medicine, i tried everything all the creams and pills, and all the natural remidies, none improved my acne, i was at my breaking point, so i started accutane as the real last resort.
Avatar f tn But as I understand it, the cause is not always known. I suffer with the same and have done for years. I have osteoarthritis in most joints and this causes pain and stiffness. I can feel every nerve end in my body twanging and also experience buzziness (tinnitis) in my ears. With movement, I feel dizzy and unsteady. But one has to move, otherwise the whole body stiffens up even more. The thing is to do gentle exercise when not in an acute phase of inflammation.
Avatar n tn I was prescribed Topamax along with an appetite suppressant (Adipex) for weight loss a bit over a year ago and stopped taking them after two and a half months. I did not lose all of the weight I had wanted to, but most of it. I had gained 55 pounds while on Paxil over the course of two and a half years. By taking a combination of the two medicines, I lost 22 pounds the first month, 10 pounds the second month, and 8 pounds the first half of the third month.
329994 tn?1301666848 I have fibro...ms..disk and nerve problems. I have tried so many meds and natural remedies. I recently tried topamax and wow..it seemed it was really going to help. Then I starting reading about this drug and my understanding is, it is a very serious drug that can have serious side effects. Not to mention seems you need to drink an enormous amount of water to prevent kidney damage. It scared me enough for me to wean off this med. My dr has given me a prescription for gabapentin....

Avatar n tn if structural defects and osteoarthritis (and other inflammatory arthritides) are ruled out by your doctor then it could be a torqued sacrum, up slipped sacroiliac joint, inflared or outflared ilium, greater trochanter bursitis, iliopsoas contracture, or even referred pain from your low back. The most common overlooked cause is iliopsoas contracture! This muscle attaches to your low back and comes forward through your abdomen in front of your hip to attach to the top front of your femur.
Avatar m tn I never use my left ear for telephone calls, even previous to my perceived hearing loss, maybe because I'm right handed and it seemed natural to use my right ear? I was thinking about making an appointment with my primary care physician (Internal Medicine) to report this "new issue." But after reading all the responses posted here, I think I might try rest and relaxation, including self-dialog to "tell my ear to stop drumming", which works for back aches I find.

Other dietary supplements, such as fish oils, also show some evidence of benefit, although more research is needed. Herbal Remedies It has been difficult to draw conclusions about the effectiveness of herbs.
Avatar n tn However, I have been on Menersa for about 5 or 6 months now and it has made a DRAMATIC difference in how I feel. It is all natural and that, for me, is a good thing.
211940 tn?1267884866 However, he said it could NOT be causing me so much pain. He checked out my arm and noticed a hard soft tissue knot, and suggested removing it through surgery and it "might" relieve my pain. So, 3 weeks ago I had the said surgery and it was removed (a hard soft tissue mass about the size of a marble). No, this was not the cyst inside my humerus bone. Anyways, I still have the pain, and it is extremely terrible at night (on a scale of 1 to 10, a 20 at night).
Avatar n tn Vitamin B can be taken in capsule form or in natural sources like poultry and fruits such as bananas and mangoes. 2. Vitamin C The same 1997 Oregon study found that Vitamin C can also help reduce symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Vitamin C in supplement or natural form in citrus fruits, liver and even broccoli can help prevent the loss of cartilage in the joints of the hand. 3.
Avatar n tn It's used to chronically long term help with reducing osteoarthritis and protecting cartilage. Instead, I'd talk to your vet about getting your dog on a veterinary prescribed NSAID (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory). You SHOULD not give him anything OTC - these can be very toxic to your dog. Examples of veterinary prescribed NSAIDS include Rimadyl, Deramaxx, etc. You may notice a quick improvement with these medications!
931217 tn?1283484935 Today's popular press often extols the supposed virtues of more "natural" ways of living, and approaching illness. There are a wide variety of theories and modalities, that together make up the broad category known as "complementary and alternative medicine (and veterinary medicine)." These approaches to health and disease are not monolithic and therefore their merits or lack thereof cannot be discussed as a category. Each must be examined alone.
Avatar f tn I think I'll try the glucosamine and fish oil too. I prefer natural remedies if they are effective. It sure wouldn't hurt to try!
Avatar f tn The sharp occipital neuralgia pain was gone by the 4th day. Inflammation is the problem (at least for me it was/is). There are natural remedies that take time, and you can supplement with enzymes such as bromelain (comes from pineapple) and other natural anti-inflammatories. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I hate taking pills and would much rather relieve my symptoms through exercise and natural remedies, but I’m not sure where to start or who to see. I’m frightened because there are days when I am so stiff and achy I find it difficult to lift the baby and cope with the other 4 children. Any advice would be very welcome.
