Osteoarthritis and milk

Common Questions and Answers about Osteoarthritis and milk

osteoarthritis

Avatar n tn Haven't been through that yet and frankly do NOT want to take HRT. I have osteoarthritis and am willing to deal with occasional pain in upper and lower back, but the weakness in the legs, along with aches, dizziness, headache, etc. is just wearing me down. Seems there is no escape from some type of daily assault and I never know what to expect. At times, I'm afriad to travel because the unexpected seems to follow me everywhere.
Avatar n tn I personally drink almond milk because it tastes like milk. this changed the way i look and do things and has done wonders for me.
Avatar f tn I eat high fat foods such as tons of nuts, many glasses of whole milk, and anything that I have in the house that my body will ingest but I am NOT able to gain the weight back. I would say that if you are NOT looking to lose weight, then stay away from the tramadol because it will make you lose weight and very quickly. It should of been prescribed as a weight loss pill, as it helps to lose weight more so than any weight loss remedy that I see out in the markets.
Avatar n tn I was prescribed Topamax along with an appetite suppressant (Adipex) for weight loss a bit over a year ago and stopped taking them after two and a half months. I did not lose all of the weight I had wanted to, but most of it. I had gained 55 pounds while on Paxil over the course of two and a half years. By taking a combination of the two medicines, I lost 22 pounds the first month, 10 pounds the second month, and 8 pounds the first half of the third month.
535089 tn?1400677119 I have had surgeries and I have advanced osteoarthritis, is that what you have? There is a big difference between the two in my particular situation. Whatever you decide to do, I wish you the best.
476246 tn?1418874514 I wish scientists would understand that it's not just the LIVER HCV kills - it kills every organ and other parts of nerves, cells and other things. And the TX does not help reverse that kind of damage - and may make it worse - however - it won't be getting worse BECAUSE of the HCV from that point on. So think of it as saving your life now --- and hopefully only getting a little worse. Hugs Marcia.... Tightly.
Avatar m tn I try my best to get sunlight, drink whole milk and eat cheese with vitamin D in it. But I haven't notice any difference. I've learned to live with this, but I've been noticing that's my problems are starting to occur more often. About once a month, usually in a stressful situation, I'll suddenly feel very tired and lose the ability to keep my balance, stay focused, and form sentences. This can last for 15 minutes to 6 hours, but oddly I don't feel dizzy.
Avatar f tn Can´t even hold anything with my hand or work with arms a little up except causing terrible pains and headaces. Lover back and Thoraic pain both in back and front. MR I show I have a little central bulging disc L5-S1 and some degenerative changes. The doctors say that I schould "shrug it off" because the problem I have is not alike others that have had "simmilar" accidents as I had!! But the pains and sleep disorders are there CONSTANT!
Avatar n tn For the last 6 months I have been getting tearing (look like paper cuts) in my vaginal area (1/4 to 1/2 inch long). I get the tears at least once or twice a week and they last from 2-4 days, go away for a few days and then come back. They continue to occur in the same locations; 1. Inside the vaginal lips on the sides almost always in the crease (between the labia minora and majora?) 2. Between the anus and vaginal opening (perineum) 3. Above the clitoris in the "hood" area.
Avatar m tn Re calcium supplements, I think the consensus is that very little is absorbed, and it is more important to take vitamin d, which increases absorption. And absorption is best from foods rich in calcium. Eat your spinach. Got milk? (yuck, not me). Finally, treatments like Fosamax have been shown to work when taken regularly for at least a year. However, according to my doc, it is contraindicated for those with a hx of esophageal varisces and/or upper GI bleeding.
Avatar f tn now I have pain under my right and left shoulder blades and tips of right and left shoulders, and in my chest ( middle, right and left chest). I told the gastroenterologist about the new symptoms and she told me to take CT scans immediately to check my abdominal and pelvis areas. Yesterday I took the tests and I got the results back today.
Avatar n tn Do you have diabetes, vasculities, vitamin B12 or folate deficiency, drink alot of alcohol, osteoarthritis, etc? Does the pain come and go, or is it the same every day? Are there specific areas in your shoulder and arm that hurt more than others? Where in your hand, which fingers hurt? How did the pain start? What is your age? Any medical problems other than your pain? Pain medication might help but you need to find the etiology of the pain.

Avatar m tn thanks to the OP for posting those possible causes etc as I now think it may be allergy, Iam taking a LOT of herbal supplements for my Liver Disease and I think it may be related and the ringing is like a 'pressure build up' sort of noise - the humming must also be part of it, so Im gunna stop all my supplements which include Milk Thistle, Multi-Vitamins, Cod-Liver Oil, Dandelion , Artichoke and Herbal Teas (although most of those have just started recently) if any I think it be Milk Thistle a
1423357 tn?1511089042 I've been taking Simvastatin for 5 years, and coincidentally during that time period my blood glucose levels have been steadily increasing from 100 to 162. My GP has told me that I have pushed thru the ceiling of an index that's used for determining risk. He has given me 90 days to pull it back, or I'm going on Metformin. I am what I would consider to be, a healthy, active, non-smoking 60 y/o male.
Avatar n tn This pain would intensify which would cause me to wince in pain and then release and then repeat all over again every 5-10 seconds for about a minute. This pain did not radiate anywhere but only within a specific point. Then this same stabbing sensation occurred half way up to the first knuckle of my right middle finger about 30 minutes later. Then immediately following this finger pain I felt pain in my right foot at the joint of my middle toe.
921323 tn?1268679412 Some say, why don’t we save the millions of dollars spent on drug research and instead invest them in education, legislation, and regulations that will help us eat better and exercise more? Put the money towards the health costs of the uninsured. Or, use it to fund research in diabetes, heart disease, or any of the other countless complications of obesity. But is it too early to admit defeat?
Avatar n tn Hi all. New to this. I am a 44 year old woman who is physically fit (gym 5 days a week) and eats pretty well. Approx 5 weeks ago I developed veins showing on both hands. They have not gone away and infact they are bulging most times, and I can "feel them". They have increased and I can see some starting to climb up my forearm now. Before this, my veins barely ever showed.
Avatar f tn Cod liver oil, magnesium, flaxseed, fenugreek, milk thistle and goldenseal. She says that these supplements help her arthritis since there is no medicine for her either. I sincerely hope that this information is helpful to you and that the supplements listed help you. Wishing you the best.
211940 tn?1267884866 However, he said it could NOT be causing me so much pain. He checked out my arm and noticed a hard soft tissue knot, and suggested removing it through surgery and it "might" relieve my pain. So, 3 weeks ago I had the said surgery and it was removed (a hard soft tissue mass about the size of a marble). No, this was not the cyst inside my humerus bone. Anyways, I still have the pain, and it is extremely terrible at night (on a scale of 1 to 10, a 20 at night).
Avatar f tn There are two conditions which cause pain while at rest or sleeping. One is arthritis, preferably osteoarthritis and the other is tendonitis. This is typically seen in osteoarthritis in initial stages. While standing and walking the muscles keep the knee joint stable. On lying down and especially if the cartilage is wearing off the bones of thigh and calf can rub against each other and cause pain. Being overweight also adds to the strain on knee joint and hastens the wear and tear of cartilage.
Avatar f tn However, the best method is to discuss it directly with her Doctor, and get a more definitive dosage based on labs and overall condition.
Avatar f tn it's weak bones that need more Milk and V, D and don't worry you'll be o.k. it happens threw out the whole body all your life. you can still live a happy healthy life like me.i m Wendi Schmid I live in Ar.
552681 tn?1215136132 The numbness continued to the point that I lost use of the arm and it extended down into my right foot and leg and eventually into the right side of my face. Thinking that I was experiencing a stroke, my primary MD transferred me to a larger hospital where I underwent an MRI of my Head and Carotid U/S, and nothing was found at that time that could explain what was happening to me.
Avatar f tn As when I carry food shopping only slightly heavy 2-3 bags I get a pull in the wrist area and can be sore. Even simple carrying a bag of milk and a bottle of sprite can set it off and in past weeks they have been really weak holding even a glass of water, toothbrush, Sometimes using a knife in left hand, opening milk etc. I have been wearing wrist brace and have some gel from doctors. Is there anything else I can do at home instead of bothering the doctor and if this sounds like a strain?
Avatar m tn I'm 74 y/o and have had osteoarthritis in my fingers of both hands for many years. Right hand ring finger swelled up at the middle knuckle with lots of pain when cutting things with a knife, shaking hands, unscrewing lids. The pain is on the sides of the knuckle, not the top, so that would seem to rule out a tendon problem. Ibuprofen or Tylenol don't seem to be of much help. Is there any procedure to relieve the pain, I'd rather not get into narcotic type pain meds?

Avatar n tn If I bent my knee near its maximum extent (such as when kneeling, crouching or climbing into bed), I experienced an incredibly painful tearing/burning sensation in the area of my patellar tendon. I would immediately react and straighten my knee and the pain would completely dissipate within several minutes. Afterward the area would feel about 50% numb, as if injected with a mild local anesthetic that was slowly wearing off, for several hours.
Avatar f tn I also experience occasional heart palpitations, although not as significant as pre-thyroidectomy when my T3 and T4 were in the 60's and 70's range and experiencing thyroid storms (oh boy!). I have gained a significant amount of weight (140lbs) in the last 8-9 years. The last enodcrinologist I saw tested to rule out the gene for male pattern baldness- it came back negative. He told me my problem was probably due to nerves.
