Common Questions and Answers about Osteoarthritis and low grade fever

Avatar f tn Patients with autoimmune disorders can have a wide variety of symptoms such as low-grade fever, joint pain, fatigue, and/or unexplained rashes that may change over time. ^ Back to top What does the test result mean? ANA tests are performed using different assays (indirect immunofluorescence microscopy or by enzyme-linked immunoabsorbant assay - ELISA) and results are reported as a titer with a particular type of immunofluroscence pattern (when positive).
Avatar f tn Last week I started getting some fever. The fever wa s low grade (99.2). It lasted a day. The next two days no fever. Then again one day of fever to 100. And again 2 or 3 days without fever. Is this connected with the arthritis? Re: medications.....I am very sensitive to medications. I did take tylenol once a day which helped for awhile. Now they do not help. Because of my advanced age I am reluctant to take anything strong (anti-inflamatory NSAIDS). My main question is the fever.
Avatar f tn I also have the feeling like I am running a fever, along w/ the aches and headache that accompany a fever. Sometimes I actually am running a low grade. If you temp seems to run low to begin with, then you could actually be running a temp.
Avatar f tn Blood and thyroid checked ok, still have cold feeling. No fever, but something is wrong. Nerves maybe?? Sending wrong signals to my body. Sooner or later someone will figure it out, hopefuly my doc will.
Avatar f tn But I was still in pain and had the same symptoms. Now it has been 4 months of diarrhea, low-grade fever, pain, and general malaise. B12 and vitamin D are still low. I'm having trouble thinking and recalling things. My husband says that I remind him of his grandmother who has early stage alzheimers. It scares him so much. I am so fatigued that I can't move. No one can figure it out.
Avatar n tn Yes, I had one day fever 100.5 and very sore throat and developed full blown cold but fever I suspect was symptom for inflammation coming on. Because following mild neck/back/ shoulder pains, I was attacked with unbelievable painful locked shoulder joint which I believe was delayed adverse reaction from Augmentin. Never will take it again although I had it before and didn't have problem then.
Avatar n tn The other blood work showed high bad cholesterol, low good cholesterol, low levels of vitamin d, B12, and folic acid, low RBC count but ferritin level of 136, negative ANA. The biopsy showed superficial perivascular dermatitis, which they told me was some kind of inflammation around my blood vessels, but they didn’t know what it was caused from. My GP then told me that he thought I should see a rheumatologist. So I chose one of two in our town and started a battery of tests with him.
4686261 tn?1358138792 to escalate to scarlet fever and then rheumatic fever and vascular infection. This was usually something that happened in third world and developing countries, not in our society, as antibiotics were available following a rather simple diagnosis, to treat the original infection. Your vitamin D3 deficiency MUST be corrected!!!
900459 tn?1304996859 I've had it since age five. Are you having accompanying symptoms of low-grade fever, fatigue, skin rashes, redness and heat in more than one joint? Or is it only pain and stiffness when you overwork the shoulders (like if you're lifting weights or doing something else that involves shoulders in your work).
Avatar f tn Pityriasis rosea is a common human skin disease which presents as numerous patches of pink or red oval rash. The rash may be accompanied by low-grade headache, fever, nausea and fatigue and sometimes by itching. No treatment is usually required. In most patients, the condition lasts only a matter of weeks or months(upto six months) If the rash persists then it will be best to get it evaluated from a dermatologist.Other possibilities have to be ruled out then. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar m tn I have had blood tests for arthritis, Osteoarthritis and connective tissue disorders. All came back clear. These were all reviewed by a specialist who said there was nothing he could see that could be causing the problems. So now I have no idea what to do?? I am a 30 year old male however I feel like I'm 80. I haven't exercised in years due to my fragile joints. Can you shed some light on what may be causing these symptoms??

Avatar n tn My doctor thought I may need to switch to a low-oxolate diet and gave me a steroidal cream to heal the immediate fissures. The cream helped but I found the diet very confusing. I find the best defense is avoiding sex. I don' t know if you all are as frustrated as I am-but why don't they know more about what makes vagina's tick?

Avatar f tn My rt knee was just diagnosed with osteoarthritis, my back is all sorts of messed up, and my left shoulder pops and my left hand goes numb at times due to my neck being out of whack. All from the left hip. Get the surgery before everything else starts to go. I'm going through this at 25 and I'm dreading every birthday at this point and how the rest of my body is going to just start failing and all I can do is sit back and watch.
Avatar f tn I have had a few very low grade fevers on and off, no sore throat, no cold symptoms, no enlarged lymph nodes (that I'm aware of), no headache, no coughing, no muscle aches other than the usual ones. I tend to wear a back brace because of a ruptured disc, and it has become uncomfortable to do this - seems to make being "out of breath" a bit more noticeable. I have been some noticeable problems with brain fog and memory, especially when I am tired in the afternoons at work.
1626306 tn?1302487106 I have scratchy sore throat, low grade fever, body aches. I also thought it may be my allergies...now i'm wondering if it may have something do with coming off the medication and my body trying to adjust. As for the vitamins I take Vitamin D (I've been deficient) Calcium+D. I don't take it like I should though. Last Test I was sufficient but not optimal a 40. I know my eating habits are bad and that's part of why I feel so bad. My last Doc put me on a arthritis diet to help with arthritis pain.
Avatar n tn I know it's horrible...first it was leukemia because I was having night sweats, headache, fever, etc. and then I thought I had colon cancer...etc. Now, I think I'm freaking out with this pain thinking it is related to cancer somehow probably making it worse. I saw many posts saying it is from stress and I hope that is it and not cancer. BTW, I'm 25.
Avatar m tn I use to be manager at a bar and grill and my ears would ring and in my right ear would have a low end roar like a jet airplane was going by in the distance. I think it had to do with chronic Sinusitus. I was around smoke all the time as well as having clogged sinuses which created a monster problem. So.... I finally went to the ENT and he performed a myringotomy and a procedure that equaled out the pressure in the ears.
Avatar m tn Fever is not necessarily co-incident with many low-grade infections. So infection is unlikely, but not ruled out. Culture of the fluid extracted would be a good first step. An x-ray is a good idea, but an MRI of the knee is better. I would also ask for an MRI of the foot. And I would not necessarily head for the conclusion that a total knee replacement is necessary. I am concerned about the constellation of symptoms, particuliarly the pain in the ankles and forefoot.
982333 tn?1305792489 The only thing she found was I am anemic, and I have a low grade fever. She gave me a pat on the head and said take Prednisone for a week and it should knock out the pain. Well it did nothing. I have also tried tylenol, ibprophen, tylenol 3, aleve. Nothing works for the pain. If anyone else has experienced this, and eventually found some relief let me know!!! I have joint pain in my hands, wrists, elbows. Stiffness/muscle pain in my forearms.
211940 tn?1267884866 Deep tissue massage was done for three days, at which time I developed a fever and lost my voice to the point where I could only whisper.
Avatar f tn Among the hallmarks of RA, in addition to pain, are swelling, redness, and heat in the joints. You may run a low-grade fever and have the feeling you're coming down with a virus. The only way to tell is to visit you doctor, who may refer you to a rheumatologist, who is qualified to treat RA, OA, and a number of related disorders. He or she will most likely examine your hands visually, take x-rays, and probably draw blood for a number of tests.
Avatar n tn I have a very healthy lifestyle of good food and regular exercise (only helath issue is hypothyroid—use low dose synthroid). I also have a spiritual life and a devoted husband and loving adult children. My pain is real and intense, yet drs are wishy-washy. Today I searched the web thinking I must have some tendon/ligament ailment. Still looking for logical explanation, after fully meditating on the mind-body thing w/ no epiphany.
Avatar f tn In 1968 I had Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and almost died. I have been told that I had to wear glasses since the fifth grade because of the damage that was done to my optic nerves from the extremely high fever I ran (it broke the ends of two thermometers). I was also diagnosed with progressive nerve deafness in 1990. Also told that it was due to the damage done to my nerves by the high temp ran with the fever. I did have a C-section in 1984 and literally dozens of thyroid tests since then.
Avatar n tn In July I found out I have hep c after going to Dr. many times because of super tiredness, low grade fever, etc.. I had a liver biopsy done last got reslts today. 1450453 tn?1293764571 I have to stay baricaded in my room because everyone else says that it is cold in it. I keep this low-grade fever, but I was always a person that had a fever at 98.6 because my norm was 97.9. I had a lot of the symptoms from that Lupus list, especially this malar rash over just the cheek bones not over the nose and it looks like I just put a little blush over it,not much. I don't know @ the blood in urine or my hair falling out, but it had gotten thinner.
