369861 tn?1306279286 This all started with my potassium being low and being hypoglycemic. The endo doctor took me off all diuretics so that i could take the renin and aldesterone tests. Does the potassium have anything to do with the thyroid and why did the endo take me off all diuretics to take the two tests. Doesn't he realise that my body would retaing the water and the result of edema? Just wondering?
Avatar f tn I have had fibromyalgia since a near fatal car accident 10 years ago. I am currently on Celexa and Methadone, and I have gained about 35 lbs. and I can't figure out how to stop it or why it is happening. My pain management doctor is a neurologist, and he just says it is a combination of the meds, menopause, not being as active, but he is not a diet doctor and his main concern is my pain. Is there another combination of meds that doesn't do this?
Avatar n tn The only thing that I ever found helped at all was Yurelax (Flexoril (sp) in the US) a muscel relaxant (not drowsy in the day) you take one at night and it breaks the spasm cycle, and you get some welcome sleep. DX of fibromyalgia, gluten intolerant, low on minerals especially ferratin and zinc and today got very abnormal toxic elements results, reacting to mystery drug, toxic chemical or tissue breakdown product.
Avatar n tn Haven't been through that yet and frankly do NOT want to take HRT. I have osteoarthritis and am willing to deal with occasional pain in upper and lower back, but the weakness in the legs, along with aches, dizziness, headache, etc. is just wearing me down. Seems there is no escape from some type of daily assault and I never know what to expect. At times, I'm afriad to travel because the unexpected seems to follow me everywhere.
Avatar f tn There is a app on android phones called gluten free, and u go to the store and scan bar cod it will let u know it has gluten in it.awesome app...since I use it I found out a lot of stuff I was eating ,was making me feel pain. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn I also took a few supplements like acidophilus, white oak bark, slippery elm, dandylion seed, gluten defense, moducare, and aloe vera juice. Five months later and I am feeling fantastic. A full recovery. I am feeling better than I have ever felt, ever. It is so funny everytime we are out or at a party and I get offered a piece of cake, a donut or cookie or something, I turn it down like it is pure poison. Because to me it is, refined sugar is just horrible stuff.
Avatar n tn I was prescribed Topamax along with an appetite suppressant (Adipex) for weight loss a bit over a year ago and stopped taking them after two and a half months. I did not lose all of the weight I had wanted to, but most of it. I had gained 55 pounds while on Paxil over the course of two and a half years. By taking a combination of the two medicines, I lost 22 pounds the first month, 10 pounds the second month, and 8 pounds the first half of the third month.
Avatar n tn I tend to disagree, I think that a fractured vertebrae, buldging disc and osteoarthritis is enough to give anyone a eadacheespeially as the day wears on and the longer one sits at the computer holding your head in one position all day. We will see what the neuro spinal surgeon has to say n a few weeks. I had requested this referral months ago, but finally decided to take it upon myself to take a chance and just make the appt. myself.
1390580 tn?1279916889 Look the diet up on the internet - no wheat, barley, rye or oats. Use rice and potatoes and fruit and veggies and protein and fats. I also read that magnesium deficiency can sometimes be part of the fibromyalgia picture. I hope this helps you!! Hang in there!
Avatar f tn Losing the extra weight is surely a plus. I also stopped eating all bread and cookies, cakes and try to avoid gluten and am amazed at how much better I feel, plus it helps keep the weight off. I decided to try it on my own ( not tested for celiac) and since I feel better, more energy, lost weight and my skin is flawless! So I tested it by eating sugar laden pies and cakes and cookies, and my face broke out, I was irritable, and felt sluggish...connection? I think so!!
Avatar n tn For the last 6 months I have been getting tearing (look like paper cuts) in my vaginal area (1/4 to 1/2 inch long). I get the tears at least once or twice a week and they last from 2-4 days, go away for a few days and then come back. They continue to occur in the same locations; 1. Inside the vaginal lips on the sides almost always in the crease (between the labia minora and majora?) 2. Between the anus and vaginal opening (perineum) 3. Above the clitoris in the "hood" area.

Avatar m tn osteoarthritis is a degenerative condition. It is caused by the breakdown of cartilage and is often associated with aging. It can be assisted along the way by injuries. There is no cure for osteoarthritis. Treatments include NSAIDs and pain management, maintaining a normal weight and exercise.
Avatar f tn My rt knee was just diagnosed with osteoarthritis, my back is all sorts of messed up, and my left shoulder pops and my left hand goes numb at times due to my neck being out of whack. All from the left hip. Get the surgery before everything else starts to go. I'm going through this at 25 and I'm dreading every birthday at this point and how the rest of my body is going to just start failing and all I can do is sit back and watch.
1047234 tn?1253547296 I have Fibromyalgia and am RH negative, as well!

She diagnosed me by looking at my records with osteoarthritis , Sjögren's , fybromiagia , and said the RNP didn't mean anything nether did the pattern .. 522415 tn?1242941355 I also have some food intolerances, that I knew I had previously but hadn't really done anything about them eg. gluten and casein. I don't know if Norah does email correspondence with patients out of the UK. I suspect she does. It is not a hard or weird diet to follow. You simply have to remove some things (which are mostly unhealthy junk food), eat a nutricious snack every 2 hours and, depending on your symptoms she will recommend nutricianal supplements.
Avatar n tn if structural defects and osteoarthritis (and other inflammatory arthritides) are ruled out by your doctor then it could be a torqued sacrum, up slipped sacroiliac joint, inflared or outflared ilium, greater trochanter bursitis, iliopsoas contracture, or even referred pain from your low back. The most common overlooked cause is iliopsoas contracture! This muscle attaches to your low back and comes forward through your abdomen in front of your hip to attach to the top front of your femur.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with low vitamin d, and B 12, and have osteoarthritis....havent had a period for about a year...and suffer from joint pain...I AM CONVINCED GLUTEN IS TOXIC TO MY BODY AND MAKING ME SICK...AM I CRAZY?
Avatar n tn This pain would intensify which would cause me to wince in pain and then release and then repeat all over again every 5-10 seconds for about a minute. This pain did not radiate anywhere but only within a specific point. Then this same stabbing sensation occurred half way up to the first knuckle of my right middle finger about 30 minutes later. Then immediately following this finger pain I felt pain in my right foot at the joint of my middle toe.
219241 tn?1413541365 Went to Sydney, stayed two nights, saw Gordon Ramsay, fell down some stairs, starved to death, and my ears wouldn't pop on the plane...ah such joys of the traveller! I am gluten intolerant and you would think a big city like Sydney would have somewhere I could eat, but nah.....mutter, mutter, mutter...had to tell every chef to make me something basically boring, and many of them accepted that, which was nice. The worst thing though is my knee.....man the pain of my knee!
1626306 tn?1302487106 I have gone off my Lyrica to see if I can control my pain with diet/exercise/massage/IMS and Osteopath. I have gained so much wt and I know it can't be helping with my pain. I can't say for sure if the weight gain is from the Lyrica or one of the other meds I'm on but I have to try something. So this is day 1 with no Lyrica. I didn't sleep last night..was up until 3 am,*****.
Avatar n tn After two births it returned, and it is now blamed to an allergic reaction to Gluten. I ended up in the hospital with the allergic reaction on my face and throat, the muscular pain all over the body specially on the legs after eating pizza. No one else was sick but me. I was dehydrated after drinking more than 2 liters of water a day, my body wasn't retaining nutrients but I was gainning weight. Although it appeared to be hypothyroid, the greater issue was at the intestines.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with psoriasis last year but I think I've had it for years, then a few months later I was told I had osteoarthritis after seeing a rheumy. I take meds for that and use steriod creams as required for my skin. Now I seem to have many more symptoms. I ache all over sometimes, I seem to be sensitive to the sun as I come out in hives and red blotches. I also have sore eyes and one of them is constantly red. I have been getting sores in my mouth and nose which are sometimes painful.
Avatar f tn If you feel better within a couple weeks, then switch to just gluten-free (B). if within a couple weeks, your symptoms return, then go back to the grain and sugar free. (A) is relevant to yeast overgrowth and increased tartaric acid interfering with your Kreb's cycle(metabolic process) (B) is relevant to gluten intolerance/sensitivity/celiacs. Note, you must familiarize yourself with all the foods that contain gluten, should you indeed be gluten intolerant or sensitive.
Avatar n tn some bulging cervical discs, osteoarthritis, and stenosis of the spinal canal - I wass told about all of that 6 years ago (I am now 49, 5' 9", 122 lbs, and in good health for my age - I've had at least 3 BAD falls involving my neck - one on a bike - split vhin open, lost a tooth - another falling down stairs - 3 years ago Symptoms: unrelenting pain - taking Tylenol #3, numbness in right shoulder/arm/hand - pain in shoulder/upper arm, pain along necck in various places - X-rays show: Rev
211940 tn?1267884866 However, he said it could NOT be causing me so much pain. He checked out my arm and noticed a hard soft tissue knot, and suggested removing it through surgery and it "might" relieve my pain. So, 3 weeks ago I had the said surgery and it was removed (a hard soft tissue mass about the size of a marble). No, this was not the cyst inside my humerus bone. Anyways, I still have the pain, and it is extremely terrible at night (on a scale of 1 to 10, a 20 at night).
Avatar n tn I eat grains like quinoa, and i've been gluten free for quite a while now. I avoid alcohol since it makes me sick and get lots of exercise. As a result i look healthy, but inside i struggle with feeling ill. I've been eating like this for years, and I'm not getting better. my breakdown is apx. 75+% raw. 98% whole unprocessed foods. Of that it's 50% protein, 25% friut 25% vege. Bottom line...

Avatar n tn Hi all. New to this. I am a 44 year old woman who is physically fit (gym 5 days a week) and eats pretty well. Approx 5 weeks ago I developed veins showing on both hands. They have not gone away and infact they are bulging most times, and I can "feel them". They have increased and I can see some starting to climb up my forearm now. Before this, my veins barely ever showed.
