Osteoarthritis and bunions

Common Questions and Answers about Osteoarthritis and bunions

osteoarthritis

Avatar m tn It would be best to get this evaluated by an orthopedician/ rheumatologist, for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. If indeed it turns out to be osteoarthritis, increased movements are best avoided around the joint, especially those that involve rapid repetitive motion (such as in piano playing), while graded smooth movements may help with the stiffness, if any. Still, it would be best to let your doctor answer the question after the evaluation. Hope this was useful. Take care!
Avatar n tn With osteoarthritis, smaller joints in the fingers may have hard bony enlargements, called Heberden's nodes and/or Bouchard's nodes. On the other hand, formation of bunions in the toes may also occur which may become swollen and red. It is best that you have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation. Take care and do keep us posted.
1263295 tn?1269930850 If so, ask your doctor if it could be peripheral neuropathy. Do you have bunions and/or hammertoes? These are often congenital (inherited) and can cause pain, as well. Do you tend to go barefoot or shoeless a lot, or often wear flip-flop type sandals? You might be better off wearing a good, supportive walking shoe. As you can see, foot pain can be caused by a wide variety of issues. A referral to an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in foot issues might be in order.
476246 tn?1418874514 RA is one of the risk factors for the development of bunions. Ha... one culprit found. And .... HCV can be the culprit for RA... So there they are, obviously... laid out on the table... these buggers...
Avatar f tn Where most people get bunions my foot gets painful and red and from the back of my great toe straight back on top of my foor I get a throbbing pain and sometimes I can't even stand the sheet to touch my foot. Now the other one is starting off and on to hurt. I have been diagnosed with high risk osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. I am wondering if I could have fractured the metatarsals(if thats what they are in the foot) or can it be arthritis causing this burning terrible pain.

Avatar f tn I was hypo 30 years without notice of 3 doctors and 5 surgeries. My joints ache, even my bunions, I am so tired I was supposed to go back to work Monday and just do not have the energy. My tailbone hurts to sit, so driving is painful. Am I being a baby with the joint pain? I take a 3 mg Lunesta to get to sleep but it only gives me 5 hours. The question: My endo told me to stop all vitamins, all calcium, everything (except Lunesta) until my blood work and bone density scan on 9/29.
Avatar n tn Also tendinopathy of gluteus medius and minimis I have had in the past and currently difficulty with other joint pain, TMJ, carpal tunnel, bunions/feet stiffness, mild OA of C4,5,6. Have an appt with an orthopedist soon. Pain is not improving. Does the MRI reading mean I have inflammatory arthritis? Is there synovial thickening with OA? How definitive is the MRI result?
Avatar n tn There is also facet joint involement too and I have osteoarthritis in hips, knees wrists etc - think i must have it in feet as well as i have two huge bunions at toes and right ankle and foot feel weird and kind of numb as well.I walk slowly with a heavy limp on right side. 1477978 tn?1289505731 I have had problems with my joints since my early teen years (I'm 36 now, male). Played baseball from little league through the 15yr old Babe Ruth league as a catcher. I was diagnosed with "osteochondritis" of the knees at around age 13. I have bad feet they tell me are collapsing, also with severe "hallux vulgus" (bunions). During my early teen and pre-teen years I sprained my ankles a lot, several times required using crutches.
Avatar n tn If I bent my knee near its maximum extent (such as when kneeling, crouching or climbing into bed), I experienced an incredibly painful tearing/burning sensation in the area of my patellar tendon. I would immediately react and straighten my knee and the pain would completely dissipate within several minutes. Afterward the area would feel about 50% numb, as if injected with a mild local anesthetic that was slowly wearing off, for several hours.

572651 tn?1531002957 Some excruciating pain in the 2nd and 3rd metatarsals with localized swelling and agonizing pain to pressure. Osteoarthritis - already discussed, but I believe the bunions and hammertoes themselves start the process of redistributing the balance and smooth functioning of the enormous numbers of bones, nerves, ligaments, tendons......ad nauseum. Surgery and injuries - both of these can disrupt the micro blood flow and the lymph drainage of the feet.

Avatar n tn I have visited the Bahamas multiple times now and everytime I go down there, my upper back and shoulders break out in absolutely horrible acne. Mostly it contains whiteheads and then a constant redness starting from the lower shoulder blades up to my neck line. It seems to happen a few days after I go swimming in the ocean but it is at least partially possible it could be due to the over sweating from the warm climate.
Avatar n tn It's dryer, so it's better for my osteoarthritis and Fibromyalgia and it's very sunny, so in the winter there is less of a chance of suffering from SAD. Unfortunately, I now live in Milwaukee, WI on the great lakes, so it's humid and overcast much of the time. The winters are cold and the summers are wet. Not good for Fibromyalgia or Arthritis at all!
Avatar n tn I have bulging discs and osteoarthritis and the avascular necrosis. The hip pain has been the worst of what I have experienced. The Dr's tell me having my hips replaced will cure most of the pain. I am now bone on bone , no cartiledge with cysts. I am just worried I have waited too long as now I have lost my muscle tone am not able to exercise at all now, sleeping more than an hour or so at a time is not possible most nights. My legs have a weird feeling now are numb and my feet and tingle.
Avatar f tn I am having the similar problems. I feel dizzy and then my heart starts racing and I feel like I need to have a bowel movement. It is very scary. This discussion is related to VAGUS NERVE and STOMACH or HEART LURCHES (spasms).
