Orapred for croup

Common Questions and Answers about Orapred for croup

orapred

Avatar n tn My son started doing a similar eye rolling back in Feb. I swear it started after a few doses of Orapred for Croup. Been to pediatrician, neurologist had EEG all came back good. When he rolls his eyes they either go up real quick or up to a side just for a second. I am torn if its a voluntary or involuntary action, sometimes I think he is doing it voluntarily and if thats the case I am not worried, but other times he looks like its involuntary.
Avatar f tn During our last ER visit for allergic reaction (severe stridor), the doc wasn't thrilled we gave Orapred along with the Benadryl .. he said in her case iI should have used the Epi Pen and called 911 ... but he tolerated that I gave the Orapred with high end Benadryl dosing and then, of course, had to tell me I gave too little Orapred (with a stern look on his face), so they administered more in the hospital ... ok ok .... the bottle was over a year old & the dose was too little ....
Avatar f tn The next morning at 5am he was gasping for air. When I called the ped. she told that he had croup and to put him under a steam shower for 20 minutes. After about 10-15 minutes the breathing was better. When we went to the docter, he had an ear infection in each ear and sinusitus. She gave him antibiotics. After he took the med. for the 10 days,he still had a bad cough for a long time that wouldn't go away, and he was having coughing fits. When he was rechecked he had bronchitis.

Avatar n tn Hi, My son has just come out of Intensive Care for the second time and has severe croup. I too am looking for answers. He has seen an ENT, cardiologist, respiratory specialist all with no answers. I can't sleep at night for fear of an attack. He is on pulmicort nebs twice a day, Intal forte, nasonex and maybe singulair if decided by drs this week. Any advice would be so welcomed.
Avatar f tn I had croup when I was 15. At the time I had undiagnosed autoimmune pernicious anaemia (vitamin B12 is essential for a healthy immune system). "Teens who have not developed antibodies to the viruses that cause croup and those whose immune systems are compromised can develop viral croup." - Livestrong - Croup in teens.
Avatar n tn My now 16yr old had her first round of croup at 8 weeks old and turned blue in her crib and her first diagnosed asthma at age 18mos ... so you have come to the right place for "Mom" experience with croup. She had croup no less than 6-8X a year and now looking back at her history (she is documented asthmatic) she was probably having RAD or asthma going on which was misdiagnosed as croup or was croup along with the asthma. She was on nebulizerr, etc.
Avatar n tn Nobody can explain why she gets it so much. She has never had any other illness or infection besides the croup. Never even rotovirus, only croup. A couple (2-3) times it has turned into pneumonia. The pediatric ENT did a bronchoscopy on her and it was perfectly normal. Now I have appointments with a pediatric pulmonologist and an immunologist. She has had allergy testing and is no allergies to anything.
Avatar n tn Her symptoms are swollen tonsils, puss pockets at times on the tonsils, skin tenderness, puffy face. She has been on Orapred for the inflammation and that seems to help. Just wanted to know if these were any symptoms of that disease.
Avatar f tn My 3 yr.old woke up this morning with croup! :/ I'm not afraid of catching a cold or anything that's a part of life but I'm 22 weeks pregnant and haven't ever dealt with croup let alone while pregnant. What are the chances of catching it myself and how will that affect my unborn baby???
Avatar n tn We went to the ER 2 weeks ago and followed up with his md who gave him prednisone for 4 days to help with the inflamed airways for his croup, but it also lowers the immune system which is why we had to wait another week to get his vaccinations. He had an elevated body temperature last night, but it was 100.9 rectally so I wasn't too concerned. Last night and tonight he seems fussier than normal and just looks like he isn't feeling well.
Avatar f tn He went to school that day for the 2.5 hrs hes in prek. Wednesday he woke up coughing like crazy. Again i brought him and she said it was the start of CROUP. His lungs were clear and she said to give him 15mg of Prednosolone 2 tiems a day. ...it seems to get the coughing to ease up. Today i put him in the shower w me to clean him up a bit and he began to get hives on his face like crazy. scratching he was so upset. I quickly gave him Benadryl and he was ok after a while. My question is this...

Avatar f tn My little princess is 3 months old now and this morning i took her to the doc because she had a terrible cough. Come to find out she has croup which then let to bronchitis. She has been put on steroids to help her but i feel so bad for her. Other than steam or taking her outside when she has a coughing fit there's nothing i can do for her. Breaks my heart. She is my fourth and none of my boys had it. So sad for her.
Avatar f tn When I was little I would get croup every winter. What would help me is my mom putting me in the bathroom with the shower running on hot and having me sit in the steam, or wrapping me in a blanket and sitting on the porch in the cold. It would help break up the mucus and she would pat my back so I would cough it up. It might be worth trying if this every happens to your daughter again.
568659 tn?1256139982 Noah got croup over the weekend and I cant remember if that is something that he needs to go to the doctor for or if it should clear up on it's own. I have been doing the hot shower thing and taking him out in the cold air. I also have a humidifier in his room and I have been giving him chamomile tea with honey but he seems to be getting worse. What do you ladies think?
Avatar n tn Hello. The cysts can be benign, or harmless. You will probably need to monitor your nephew's growth and development closely. And also watch for any symptoms. The cysts are pockets of fluid collection. These form during the early development stages. What problems did your nephew had with the throat ?
Avatar n tn so it is only becuase I always insist on the blood test that she is diagnosed. She gets croup, asthma general cold symptoms and one time she got hives all over her body for a week until we worked out it was again mycoplasma. It is so frustrating because at first she was treated extensively for asthma but of course she didn't get better until we treated the mycoplasma. The good news is that the drugs specific for mycoplasma always clear it up pretty quickly.
Avatar f tn She has been suffering for 7 months now. We have seen 2 allergists and had skin testing done. It was determined that she is allergic to dust mites only. She was placed on Zyrtec 1mL/mg, 5 mL q daily. This helped but did not completly get rid of the urticaria. About a month ago she developed an itchy rash on her knees, elbows and anterior wrists. At the time they were just sporadic bumps. The bumps soon merged and formed plaques in these areas.
Avatar f tn I also have a hiatus hernia. Do these two things go hand in hand? I have had both for about 10 years. Is it likely that I'll have to live with getting Croupe for the rest of my life? This is stopping me from working and being social.
Avatar f tn Yes honey my son had croup and it made his cough calm down so much. He only had the croup cough for 3 days which usually last more like a week.
Avatar n tn with asthma, everytime she gets a cold she gets very sick, and needs breathing treatments with the neb. This time she has had a fever for over a week and at night wakes up and cant, breath at all she starts frailing around, and when she finally gets air in she starts screeming, The treatments now only seem to take the edge off. Could there be somthing other than asthma wrong with her? Im worried she is going to suffercate in her sleep.
Avatar f tn My son currently has croup for the first time (he is four, goes to kindy, so picked it up from there), took him to the doctors and my son given some antibiotics and some other stuff and within a day he sounds so much better.
Avatar n tn I have an ENT surgeon, a pediatrician, a speech pathologist, audiologist, pulmologist, respirologist, occupational therapist, and another speech pathologist for swallowing. the problem lies with too many doctors and too many ideas. She was born with an extra broncial (hope that is spelled right) tube that doesn't fully attach to her lungs. so, when she was born, her airway was obstructed by 90%...and this was drained.
