Avatar f tn My daughter has been coughing for a month now, it's not all the time. During this month she has had pink eye and a ear infection. The pink eye went away with meds, the ear infection is now on week 3. She took amoxicillon (the pink one) for 10 days, and now she's starting amoxicillon (the white one) for 10 more days. As for the cough, she has been prescribed 3 different meds for her cough pseudophedrine, prednisone (orapred), albuterol, and now prednisone again.

327369 tn?1326119908 Hi there! I am new to this board....I am not new to asthma. My son and daughter have it. My daughter's has usually been pretty easy to control using our plan. However, my son has always had the kind of asthma that scares me. We have been hospitalized three times since 15 months of age. He is three this month. Every single time he gets a chest cold we end up in the ER and he gets pnuemonia so quick.
Avatar n tn Her symptoms are swollen tonsils, puss pockets at times on the tonsils, skin tenderness, puffy face. She has been on Orapred for the inflammation and that seems to help. Just wanted to know if these were any symptoms of that disease.
Avatar f tn I have arrhythmias and do use albuterol for my asthma. Albuterol is an adrenergic medication. It acts similarly to adrenalin on the body. When using an inhaler, you'll probably have a slightly accelerated heart rate and feel your heart beating (palpitations) for about 10-15 minutes. You mentioned a machine. Are you using a nebulizer at home? Again, albuterol is usually used in the nebulizer and it takes about 15 minutes to finish the breathing treatment.
Avatar m tn My husband who is 61 has AFIB. He takes albuterol and advair when needed. Are any of these drugs dangers with his AFIB?
Avatar n tn hi, my question is can we mix albuterol, ipratropium, pulmacort together and the order is give these medication together by nebulizer.
Avatar n tn I have moderate COPD and am doing well on Duoneb (an nebulizing combination that contains albuterol) and an antihistamine. As for anything else I depend on natural supplements - vitamin B5, mullein extract, and MSM. I breathe more easily now than I have in two years. (Also Advair resulted in adrenal fatigue which I am now recovering from.
Avatar f tn I purchased the Omron Portable Ultrasonic Nebulizer and am using the vials of Albuterol and Ipratropium. I can only use 1/2 vial because more than that speeds my heart up too much. Can I save the last 1/2 of the vial for later use? Does anybody know of a more affordable way to get the medicine I need? I am paying out of pocket and this economy gets harder every day it seems like.
Avatar n tn im 15 weeks and on albuterol inhaler and when my doctor brough up my asthma to me at my last appointment she told me not being able to breath is more of a risk to my baby than taking my albuterol. id assume the same is true for you. if they dont think that inhaler is safe for you or baby anymore, maybe they can switch you to something to use during the pregnancy that will help you breathe.
Avatar f tn I decided to take her to a different allgerist for a second opinion. At this point she was placed on Zyrtec 5mg BID, Orapred 15 mg q daily x 5 days and Triamcinolone cream BID. The plaques were beginning to get better and I have seen some encouraging results regarding them. However, 2 days after finishing the Orapred, she has developed an extremely itchy rash from her neck almost to her knees. The rash is slightly raised and red.
Avatar n tn Flovent and albuterol are both medications used to help prevent, and lessen the severity, of asthma attacks. Both are dispensed in an aerosol inhaler that you breathe in See all 179 questions about Asthma mouth. Flovent is the brand name for fluticasone and it is a corticosteroid. Its main purpose is to lessen the chest pain, difficulty breathing, and wheezing associated with asthma.
Avatar m tn The cells do become used to the albuterol medication and don't respond as readily. Try taking a simple magnesium glycinate supplement, 500 mg a day (the magnesium helps to dilate the airway passageways) and discuss with your physician about prescribing Foradil, an unhaled beta agonist, that is taking twice a day (it lasts for twelve hours). Some people have problems with Foradil, but for others it is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Avatar f tn Anyone thar take proventil and her pregnacy and how often u use
Avatar f tn Just wondering if anyone here uses an albuterol inhaler and are they safe to use during pregnancy? I use one every now and then but not on a daily basis. I'm only 5 weeks along. I used mine tonight because I felt like I absolutely had to.

Avatar f tn Over the weekend I had very bad chest tightness and could barely breathe. Trip to urgent care had me on my 3rd round of antibiotics and a 6 day tapered medrol pack. I am on day 3 of the medrol pack and yesterday was actually the only day I felt great - breathing normally, more energy than usual. Today while I am not as tired as I have been since I have been sick, the chest tightness reoccurred briefly in the afternoon. Using my albuterol inhaler helped, then the coughing returned.
Avatar n tn I have an 8 year old son that takes pulmicort, and just finished Orapred when I noticed a little bump in the back of his head. He scratches it alot, and I was told by the doctor to put cortizone on it. Because he had asthma, he more than likely had eczema. About a week later, his little bump turned into a big knot, and you can see it if he turns to the side. It itches more now that it has gotten bigger. I don't think it is eczema, but who am I? I am not a doctor.
587778 tn?1261397118 3 weeks ago my 16 year old daughter had a bad reaction to the fumes that her art supplies produced. She was treated for asthma in the ER and sent home with an albuterol inhaler and prednisone. Within a few days, she was hospitalized due to a severe reaction to the prednisone and albuterol. She will never be able to take any medication with a steroid. Since then, she has had exercise and cold induced attacks.
Avatar n tn My 6 year old woke up one morning a month ago with a constant dry hacking half cough. He has been on Zithromax, pro air inhaler, qvar inhaler, and orapred. Nothing has helped. His lungs are clear so they have ruled out asthma. Now they are referring him to an allergy doctor. How can it be an allergy when he does not have any allergy symptoms? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
1754037 tn?1327886811 I have used my albuterol and flovent inhalers in all but ONE of my pregnancies and my kids are fine. I did not take any oral medications though.
Avatar n tn I am on Xopenex after my doc switched me from albuterol due to my heart arrhythmias (albuterol made them much worse) and it has been much better for me as long as I dont take it more than 3 times a day. Also, Atrovent (Ipatropium bromide) can cause a rapid heart rate too. TAlk to your doc about your symptoms, there should be something he or she can do to help minimize your symptoms (even change them...sometimes it takes a bit of tweaking to get the right mix) I hope this helps...
Avatar n tn Thus, when an asthmatic attack is precipatated after the albuterol, you are in a 911 situation and the time between an attack and death from respiratory arrest and death can sometimes be measured in minutes. "More albuterol" won't work. Your son will need intravenous medications and likly endotracheal intubation. There are alternative medications that still alow for the albuterol to be "held in reserve".
