So my husband has been on a progressive pain pill diet for about 6 + years for his back (degenerative disc disease with nerve damage) He has been on Norco 10-325 for at least one year taking 4-6 a day occasionally more but usually sticking to 4. His doctor switched him to Opana ER 10MG and gave him Opana IR 5MG incase of break through pain.

when i could not find oxycontin i would take opana er 40mg. opana(oxymorphone) is about twice as potent as oxycodone. they are rather new i believe they came out in 2002?

Has anyone had issues with withdrawal symptoms coming on suddenly? I know the Opana ER doesn't last 12 hours (even my doc warned me this was the case) but this latest batch of opana seems to poop out & give me old sweats about 4 hours after taking it. I've been on Opana ER, 20 mg 2x/day for a couple of months. It's my 2nd experience with long-acting opioids (1st was Oxycontin MS, quit after 10 days due to gluten issues).

Hi I take 1 20mg opana er per day I'm prescribed 3 a day but never take 3, maybe 2 if I'm having a really bad pain day but that is usually 1 or 2 days per month. I would like to come totally off it to see if I can manage my pain in more natural ways. Being that I that so little will WD be bad, should I just go cold turkey or wean by putting more space between doses?

I am a 49yr old female with several health issues. I've been on Opana 20mgs er and 10 mg Opana 4times a day for months, before was on 100 mgs of Morphine and the Opana 10mgs 4times per day.

It's good to hear you're doing fairly well. I've been on Opiates for a spinal injury for many years. Currently i'm on Opana ER 40mg (x2/day) plus Opana IR 10mg (3x/day) and it's barely taking the pain level down anymore. The most I cold detoxed was 48 hours, and I can't explain how awful it was at that last hour before I took a pill.

Ive been taking oxycontin 80, (6 day) & dilaudid 8 (8 day) for 15 years due to many health issues ... I was just put on opana 40 ER (4 day)& Opana 10 (4 day). Since i've been on the new meds i think i have been blacking out; l be doing something and i open my eyes and i dont know where i am, or what just happened, Are these seizures??? Or Withdrawals ??? Opana ER has been a LIVESAVING drug for me, non sedating, i can hold my huge babies and have no side effects, I highly recommended the ER, you take it only 2 x a day, I ran out one day before my pain doctor appt and am in excruciating pain in back and hips. Had no idea how well it was working until I am having to go 2 days without and about to DIE.

So later in the week last week, I called my doctor and told him all of this and stated that I was going back to the original dose of 30 mg in the morning AND at night. At this point, I was about to toss the Opana ER and go back to the Morphine ER BUT before I did that, I researched more about Opana ER and discovered that it takes 3-4 days to reach a steady state level in the bloodstream so I decided to stick with it awhile longer.

Okay...so you're still on Opana and can get some Norco for withdrawal and take some klonopin. You're off Methadone. Is that right? This makes no sense to me so i guess I don't understand you...can you tell us a little clearer?Are you trying to avoid withdrawal from the OPANA by wanting to take Norco?? Help us here...

The oxy at a lower dose does better than Opana. At one point I was taking at least 60mg ER and more than that IR, usually snorted because it simply didn't control my pain. I also for a time was RX'D 120 10mg Norco a month too. That's a lot of drugs. If you would like to talk more about Opana, just hit me up. You probably won't find anyone else here that's used it. I also had very little luck with OTC remedies, yet I continue to take them.

Now, converting that to Opana ER. Opana ER is 3x stronger than morphine; hence, 120 mg of morphine = 120/3 mg of Opana ER per day (i.e., 40 mg). Therefore I should be taking 20 mg of Opana ER every 12 hours NOT 30 mg of Opan ER every 12 hours. The 40 mg Opana ER includes all of the breakthrough percocet I take per day and the total in morphine sulfate ER I take per day. With this lower dose, I still should not need breakthrough meds.

I am moving to Knoxville from Michigan and I am addicted to Opana ER. There is only one doctor in Knoxville who prescribes narcotics and Opana isn't helping with my chronic pain, anyway (I have had five back surgeries). I tried detoxing by switching to Dilaudid, taking smaller and smaller doses... Then, an injury in Physical Therapy put me back on my full Opana dosage. I've tried using Kratom for the pain and it keeps me awake. Can the fast-acting Oxymorphone be cut in half?

My doctor told me that my last drug screening came up positive for Opana ER. I have never taken Opana. How in the world could this have happened? I know many people won't believe me, but it's the truth. I'm just trying to figure out how this could happen. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

My question is with I have the terrible withdrawal symptoms that are always mentioned in our forums (believe me I have suffered enough in the long 3 month taper from Opana ER to this dose of short-acting Opana). I would LOVE to hear from anyone that has done a long taper to 0 and not jumped at another dose. I don't know whether I will be okay or whether I will have the myriad of withdrawal symptoms. Some of your experience, strength and hope is appreciated.

I am going through serious withdrawal. I suffer chronic back and hip pain and my doctor can't seem to find the source of the pain. So I started to medicate myself. I started off with oxy 30s. then I started dating a guy who also is in chronic pain and when I would start getting "sick" from not being able to get the 30s he gave he some of his oxymorphone, opana, and I don't want to continue taking his meds anymore.

ve read, cutting the ER version of opana does NOT bypass the time release. Opana was made to try to deter people from abusing the oxycontin inside. The old pills marked OC had just a time release layer around the outside that could be taken off and the drug could then be abused. As a work around they made the time release process different, so cutting the pill or "dissolving" the time release layer wont work anymore.

Hi, Iknow it has been a few years since your post, i was wondering how you are doing on the Opana ER. I am switching from Opana 30 mg ER to Morphine 60 mg ER.The Opana gave me side effects, dizziness, being in withdrawl if I missed a dose, and it did not help my chronic pain.. I have tried many ER drugs and I am having a hard time finding many of them. Plus my breakthrough meds are also hard to find.

Anyone taken Opana ER? My doctor wants to switch me from Oxy to Opana ER and I am very nervous about it. Any advice is helpful.

I am not sure from your post if you are on opana or opana ER, and how many times a day you are taking it. Would you clarify that, so I have an idea of where you are at. When we read these post, especially the rare few about Opana and/or Opana ER, it can be so frightening. This has caused so much fear in me, but I have tapered down a great deal. I find the hard thing about Opana ER is that it cannot be cut, so the drop is really significant.

Hi! I really need help. I am on 30 mg Opana ER 3 times a day. I have had major surgery, but think I am hyper analgesic, and being this dependent on pills is scaring me (after 1 1/2 years)! I have been told I need to change to another short-acting medication prior to detoxing. One doctor told me he would change me to the Fentanyl Patch, then I could go through his detox program.

I had back surgery 2 weeks ago and went back on 15mg Oxycodone IR's x 10 a day. I've been on them at this dose for most of about the last two weeks. What I want to know is how bad the wd's will be.
