zofran

Avatar f tn Ive been prescribed metoclopramide hydrochloride to take for my nausea. Im 17 years old on 9 weeks 3 days pregnant. Obviously my first and wanting to know if anyone had any problems taking this medication?? My mum and I are abit iffy as my cousin was born with a hole in her heart from my aunty taking a nausea medication (many many years ago though). What are your thoughts on medication? I am sick 24/7 and throw up almost everything I eat.
Avatar f tn They found nothing and said that it was acid reflux. They put me on 3 differny types of meds; ondansetron for nausea, ranitidine for stomach problems and metoclopramide to take 4 times a day 30 mins before I eat. The first two fine with but if you look up the symptoms for the last one reading them scares me. It came with it's own print out for symptoms.
Avatar n tn I understand the anemia but what is causing the extreme nausea that I experience My doctor just put me on Ondansetron and it seems to be helping, so far. Doctor, can you explain in layman terms, please, what's with the nausea? Is it just the body's reaction to sooooo much medication? Or is my body trying to tell me something else? Thank you, Ms.
Avatar f tn My doctor put me on two different nausea pills and they have worked like a charm. Ask your doctor about ondansetron or metoclopramide.
Avatar f tn Ondansetron is Zofran hun. Its just the generic name for zofran. Even though theres a lawsuit, id say its more of a money maker. I took it both pregnancies and my babies came out fine. Youve got to look at whether the benefits outweigh the risk with ANY medication. If youre miserable and need to eat for baby, take it. My advice is try to only take it when u really need it, not on a regular basis. Stop as soon as symptoms ease up. Lots of water too.
Avatar f tn Ondansetron is the generic for Zofran. Why would you refuse it? It's safe to take or your Dr wouldn't prescribe it to you. There's other meds out there if you don't want to take it. My Dr gave me Diclegis. It helped take the edge off the nausea.

Avatar f tn The main one I'm on its metoclopramide. I'm not 100% sure of the others names and I don't have them too hand at this moment. But they're definitely not called zofran. The ones I've been taken were prescribed by the doctors in the woman's hospital and I was told they wouldn't harm the baby.
Avatar f tn Ladies if your doctor has proscribed u a medication called ondansetron I wouldn't take it. That medication is an off brand name for Zofran. I just saw a commercial that it has side effects on pregnancies and can cause miscarriages. I was taking it until now and I'm 33 weeks pregnant. Mine was only 4 mg but I took about 10 or 11 pills so that's 40-44mg. I don't trust this medication even tho it's for morning sickness and nausea.
Avatar f tn Ondansetron has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Animal studies failed to reveal evidence of fetal damage. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Case reports have described two women who have received ondansetron during pregnancy for life-threatening hyperemesis gravidarum. No abnormalities were noted in the offspring of these two women. Ondansetron is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
Avatar f tn Zofran/Ondansetron is also used in pregnancy. I felt safe using this during pregnancy as I have known more women who have used it without any problems. it's a newer drug and works very well without the sedating side effects that promethazine can have. Here is the FDA information too. Ondansetron has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Animal studies failed to reveal evidence of fetal damage. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy.
1442059 tn?1340240952 If you develop this from metoclopramide then it is usually permanent even if you stop the drug. I believe you are living in Canada, and you might want to talk to your doctor about taking domperidone instead of metoclopramide because domperidone is safe for long term use.
Avatar n tn My grandchild received too much Reglan (aka metoclopramide) by mistake, Does this cause seizures?
Avatar f tn I went to the er and got ondansetron (generic for zofran) but the doc prescribed it bc I literally kept nothing but one icee a day down. I got a script for 12 and thats it. All I know is they do not prescribe it to one indivodual in large quantities and that bc it can affect and stay in your blood for so long they have to monitor how much an individual gets.
Avatar f tn I was put on 50 mg of zoloft a month ago and have had nausea ever since. It seems like it's been getting worse over the last couple of weeks. Yesterday I was prescribed Ondansetron ODT 4mg. It doesn't seem to help. Will the nausea go away?
1916673 tn?1420233270 Hi Tony, I personally used the following about a year ago, as prescribed by a Doctor. Found that it was RAPID and LONG LASTING and 100% effective. Avatar f tn I just looked up that information. The website says that another name of this drug is Metoclopramide. I was following the live chat earlier today and the GI doc said that Metoclopramide is dangerous.

Avatar m tn We have been giving Ricky, who vomits often, twice daily doses of Metoclopramide 1/2 hour before feeding. He vomits so often that he has dropped weight- his ribs are showing. Also about 3 months ago we had an issue with ALL the dogs' stools- greasy grey. Per the vet they got two rounds of Giardia treatments plus Giardia vaccinations. Their stools were fine for a week, then all got greasy looking again.
