Avatar f tn We visited a child Neurologist last week and he immediatly said that our son did not have lyme disease since lyme disease was not in the state of GA. He also looked at our sons MRI results and said that he did not see any of the white spots that the 2 radiologists had seen. The office performed an EEG test on our son that day and we are suppoed to find the results out next Monday.
Avatar f tn -- Biaxin (clartihromycin) and Omnicef (cefdinir) for Lyme. However, I have seen references in various places online to Flagyl being used against babesia. If you search "babesiosis flagyl" you'll find what I did. Take care!
Avatar f tn I had it for about a week and they were looking for everything but Lyme in the ER. The Lyme panel even came back negative (as early cases often do). The next day after about 12 hours of head scratching at negative tests for respiratory issues in the ER. With a fever that would spike and drop. The infection disease doctor found the bite right behind my right knee where the soft tissue fold is.
Avatar f tn I never had any problems with anger or depression prior to getting Lyme disease, but that is who I am now. I fly off the handle over the stupidest things that seem like life or death to me at the time. There is that irrational thought. I am a 38 year old grown woman with a license to practice registered nursing and I drove my car down a walking path because I needed to get my daughter out of the rain.
Avatar m tn I was only on two antibiotics at the same time, and didn't have the kind of discomfort you report. Ask your doc what can be done, whether other treatments would be less problematic, etc. Also I would NOT take any herbals or medicinals or anything in that frame of reference UNLESS your Lyme doc okays it as to what meds/supplements you take at what doses for how long. Herbs and pharmaceuticals are all just chemicals, and mixing them without a doc's okay is just asking for trouble.
Avatar f tn Mepron/atovaquone and Zithromax/azithromycin for Babesiosis first, then when that was extinct, Biaxin/clarithromycin and Omnicef/cefidnir for Lyme. Took 15 months, start to finish. Overt symptoms had been few, mainly tiredness but not the crushing fatigue others of us have had. Tests were initially run on the family only at my stubborn insistence, and I was dead-dog sick with the same things, Lyme and Babesiosis. Go figure.
Avatar f tn My sodium level was low and my white blood count and granulocytes were very high and my lymphocytes were low. The Dr. put me on Omnicef for 10 days. I went back to the doctor a few days ago, and everything else turned out normal except now I had high Calcium and High Total Blood Protein. My Total Protein was 10.6. I am worried about the possibility of a Parathyroid Tumor with Cancer or something serious.
Avatar f tn A quick couple of notes on your post, and others can add on: You say: "Since I last posted, I've gotten a negative Lyme, rocky mountain spotted fever, and erlichiosis ELISA test. I still believe that my symptoms were Lyme related. I saw a PA at my primary care doc's office who refused to order the tests for co-infections with a negative Lyme test." A Lyme specialist would, I suspect, order a PCR test rather than the ELISA/Western blot combo.
280418 tn?1306325910 I was tested for coinfections by Quest - negative. Igenex - CDC positive for Lyme IgM. But, my LLMD assumes you have coinfections and treats for them. So, my treatment has been Doxy, oral, 400mg/day from May - Dec. Then, since Dec. - azythromycin, Omnicef and rifampin every M, W, F and Flagyl on Th, F. This is pulsing, I believe, that my LLMD has me on. Also, supplements (lots) and gluten free diet (that I've slacked on lately).
Avatar f tn others, their results from their Western Blot(s) and ELISA. I have had 4 negative Lyme Serology, 1 IND for a co-infection and then 4 positive bands on my western blot. I am curious to see how many people have had negative tests for the ELISA and how many bands came back positive on the WB and which bands were positive.
Avatar m tn Avelox and Omnicef are usually for for respiratory infections, and might cure ngu or chlamydia, but probably not gonorrhea. Have you been seen for your discharge and burning?
Avatar f tn Two out of three urine samples were positive for the Lyme bacteria. My doc prescribed omnicef about two weeks ago and as of yesterday, I started feeling awful again. He thinks its a herx. I've been on multiple abx for about 9 months. Anyway, he also started me on Flagyl today along with the omnicef. He said to start the Flagyl once the herx is over. He said if the Flagyl doesn't work then he will start IV abx. I'm a wreck.
Avatar f tn Swollen glands was a huge problem for me with Bartonella. For Barts I used Rifampin. I did ABX for two years and I am now on an herbal protocol. A common rash with Barts is when it looks like stretch marks.
Avatar n tn Hello my 12 year old was taking omnicef for a ear infection and 10 days into it she got hives all over her body and they come and go and really ichy do you think it's from the Omnicef?
Avatar m tn Hi guys, I have been taking doxy and omnicef for about 3 months. After about a month I developed a bad sore throat that continued to worsen until I could barely talk. I had constant post nasal drip, the feeling of a lump in my throat and a constructing feeling. I fear I have developed bad GERD/LPR. I think my stomach flora is messed up from the antibiotics. I started taking a better probiotic after my throat worsened but it continued to worsen.
Avatar f tn Please help me as I'm supposed to start a new regimen of meds for lyme. Currently on biaxin, omnicef and about to add plaquenil. I've read good things about it but also bad side effects. Can anyone please help me with this. I don't want to take anything that has really bad side effects. I'm doing well with my progress and back to work and the four week flares are starting to get better but still there.
147426 tn?1317265632 Does this mean there is no DNA for Lyme, but you still carry the spirockete that causes Lyme disease and you will never get rig off it? I was tested for lyme twice having these results: Lyme Western Blot Results for first one =0.67; for second one= 0.15 (Negative results) Do you have any idea why the number went down? I have many symptoms, and I asked my infectious disease doctor why he does not prescribe me antibiotic, if there is a probability of infection.
Avatar f tn clarithromycin) and Omnicef (gen: cefdinir), and then switched to Zithromax (gen: azithromycin) and Flagyl (gen: metronidazole). As I recall, the switch in meds was because I was having a bad reaction to treatment, but it may have been that the doc didn't realize my problem was the probiotic I was taking and not the antibiotics. I don't know. So ..
Avatar f tn My father has seizures and they cannot figure out why. He has a lot of other symptoms too, but his doctor ordered a lyme disease test for him, which came back negative, but I'm guessing that lyme disease may cause seizures. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I have been suffering from almost every symptom listed for Lyme Disease since being diagosed in 2007. Most recently I have had seizures and cognitive problems causing problems at work. Does anyone have any information regarding preferred treatment other than antibiotics and pills for the symptoms. I rarely have a day withont pain. Help!
Avatar m tn Hi All, My husband wrote the previous post regarding myself with possible lyme's disease. Here are all my symptoms: headaches, joint aches, swollen lymph nodes in neck, ear pain in and behind ear, jaw pain with some tooth pain, fatigue, dizziness (almost like a brain fog), some word-finding difficulties (could be related to fatigue), and some occasional tingling/numbness in arms, hands, and left side of face. All these symptoms are intermittent. What are your thoughts?
Avatar n tn What is/are the urine test(s) definitive for the diagnosis of untreated Lyme Disease?
Avatar f tn Some who are officially diagnosed with MS, ALS, Parkinson etc. really have Lyme disease. For years I was blown off by infectious disease doctors and told I had a false-positive Lyme test. The years I lost in dealing with the havoc the disease was wreaking inside my body due to nondiagnosis will likely result in permanent disability and premature death. It has already reached my kidneys. If you are undiagnosed and not getting anywhere, don't lose any more time.
