Hello my 12 year old was taking omnicef for a ear infection and 10 days into it she got hives all over her body and they come and go and really ichy do you think it's from the Omnicef?

My child was 1 1/2 months old when she developed a "cold" that consisted of a stuffy nose for about 1 1/2 months. After 2 bouts with antibiotics(amoxicillin & omnicef) it seemed that we were in the clear. Then about 3-4 weeks later she came down with a terrible cold that doesn't seem to want to go away and the doctors said there was nothing they could do for it.

I was told to continue Omnicef for 6 more days and doxycycline for another 3 weeks and then they will see. I will definitely print out your comments and see if I can have some of the test done.

I am having trouble finding out what is a safe maximum dosage of Diamox for psuedotumor cerebri. When I had asked my daughters neurologist this question, she said there is no maximum dosage which I found hard to believe that there wouldn't be a max dose on any medication. Omnicef has not been studied for treating sTDs. If enough is taken it is likely to cure gonorrhea but it would not be expected to be effective for chlamydia or NGU.

The allergist got a sinus x-ray and it showed a pretty yucky sinus infection. Once again, a round of Omnicef for 14 days made him better, but when I took him back for recheck and repeat x-ray, it showed he still had a mild sinus infection on the left side...So what is happening is the antibiotics have been getting him better, but not all the way, so it just comes right back, even if we keep him on antibiotics for 2-3 weeks at a time. He is set up to start allergy injections next week.

I was only on two antibiotics at the same time, and didn't have the kind of discomfort you report. Ask your doc what can be done, whether other treatments would be less problematic, etc. Also I would NOT take any herbals or medicinals or anything in that frame of reference UNLESS your Lyme doc okays it as to what meds/supplements you take at what doses for how long. Herbs and pharmaceuticals are all just chemicals, and mixing them without a doc's okay is just asking for trouble.
