My 16 year old daughter was diagnosed with Strep on Saturday and given Omnicef which gave her diarrhea. She went back to doctor then on Tuesday to receive a dose of LAbicillin which is supposed to cure her in 12 hours. 48 hours ago and we are still not better. SHe has white spots the size of an eraser on each side of her throat and her throat is almost swollen closed. I took her back today and they gave her clindomycein and prednisone which she had last year for mono.
Never having dealt with strep I assumed the smell was from the bacteria of strep. The Amoxicillan they gave her did not work so we went back for Omnicef and after 2 doses of meds the smell was gone. Two weeks after meds the smell came back... back to the Dr. no strep... no answers.... Ive tried everything from no juice to flossing with no luck. Is this an indication of a bigger problem?

I went back to the doctor a few days ago, and everything else turned out normal except now I had high Calcium and High Total Blood Protein. My Total Protein was 10.6. I am worried about the possibility of Cancer or something serious.

i saw a doctor and was diagnosed with sinusitis/ bronchitis, with a negative strep culture from the oropharynx. was placed on omnicef. I returned to the doctor with worsening of the arthralgia and fatigue. I have a slightly elevated ESR and CRP. My ANA is still pending. What am i possibly looking at?
Hello my 12 year old was taking omnicef for a ear infection and 10 days into it she got hives all over her body and they come and go and really ichy do you think it's from the Omnicef?
He was put on amoxil and had an allergic reaction so he has been taking omnicef. The Dr told us this week that the omnicef has not done anything and that he was going to give him a round of antibiotic shots. So far my son has had 2 of the 3 shots. My first question is how quickly do these shots work? My other question is: Is there some underlying problem that is causing these ear infections, something more serious? He has not had any other type of infection i.e.
He is on zoloft for anxiety, abilify for the moods and attention and tics. Omnicef for the strep reaction. How do I know if the meds are working if he is still having these bad flair ups?.He is so sensitive and cries so easily. I notice him overreacting to things. He is in OT for the fine, gross, and visual motor delays and sensory issues, I feel now he is being treated in pieces.
and she was diagnosed with Strep Throat (She normally gets strep at least 3 times/winter).She was given omnicef for an antibiotic (she is allergic to Zithromax) About a week and a half later she was diagnosed with Pnemonia, and given anther omnicef perscription. One week later the pnemonia was getting worse, and she was hopsitalized for 2 days with IV antibiotics. We left with an additional 5 days of omnicef. Through out this time, she continues to run fevers any where from 99.5-105.
He doesnt get Strep or Tonsilitis. Because he is allergic to Penicillan and Zithromax isnt very effective for any infection he gets (including ear or respiratory which he very rarely gets) the doc usually gives him Omnicef which works but wreaks havoc on his tummy. (unfortunately he cant tolerate Ceftbutin or Cefzil at all, which causes him to vomit) I dont understand why he keeps getting these infections.
So I've been on depo for 9.months now and got my renewal shot and antibiotics for 10 days on the same day, how long should I wait before having unprotected sex? How will they effect eachother????
I have taken 10 days of Omnicef and most recently(this week) i just finished 250mg Zpack but I still have the discharge. Back in November I notice the gland behind my right ear was swollen. For the past week, my neck is tight under my ears and jaw and under my armpits. Today I noticed the gland in my right groin is rock hard and the size of a large pea. I cannot feel the left groin gland. It does not hurt to touch but it makes it uncomfortable to sit and have some minor testicular pain.
Hi all, wondering if you have come across information indicating that flagyl can treat babesia at the same time it's treating Lyme. I understand it's also a antiparasitic, so not sure if that counts. If anyone knows or has heard their LLMD mention this please let me know. I just took my first dose of Flagyl, keeping my fingers crossed that I see some fantastic results!
Then to add insult to injury when I took her for her 4 month check(one week later) up they discovered she had an ear infection and was wheezing a bit when she breathed. So now she is back on the antibiotic omnicef AND breathing treatments(which don't seem to be working in my opinion) and still as stuffy in the nose as can been. This has been just a nightmare to me as I just want her to be healthy.

I have posted on the STD forum, as that was my originial concern. I have now come to post here, as it looks like that is not what I have going on. 2 weeks ago, I was diagnosed with Impetigo and Folliculitis, most likely caused by the same bacteria living on my body. The doctor diagnosed the Impetigo by looking at it, and he prescribed me Doxycycline and Muporocin (SP?) After a few days, the Impetigo began to clear up. It was in the left corner of my lip.
I am on everything except the Cefidinir(Omnicef) bc she is adding that after we add the Septra and sees if it is well tolerated.
Mepron/atovaquone and Zithromax/azithromycin for Babesiosis first, then when that was extinct, Biaxin/clarithromycin and Omnicef/cefidnir for Lyme. Took 15 months, start to finish. Overt symptoms had been few, mainly tiredness but not the crushing fatigue others of us have had. Tests were initially run on the family only at my stubborn insistence, and I was dead-dog sick with the same things, Lyme and Babesiosis. Go figure.
My 4 yr.old son had an allergic reaction to Omnicef. Hives all over and swollen hands, arms and feet. It's been 18 days and still gets a slight case of the hives . Within the last week( 3 times) he's had leg pain(muscel pain) joint pain. He has a hard time walking, usually the next day he can, it lasts anywhere from 12-24 hours. The 3 times he's had the leg pain he's either been swimming or riding a bike, took him to the hospital, blood work, x-rays and urine all came back fine.
This is a nasty sickness and she to took a round of omnicef for a bladder infection. We were unfortunate in our home town to get a diagnosis quickly, we took our daughter to a hospital 100 miles from our home for a doctor in an emergency room there to finally listen and admit her into the hospital for treatment. very lucky to have had such a wonderful group of drs. to assist in a time of need unlike the ones in our home town...
I have been freaking out ever since and I found 7 Cipro 500mg and started taking it 2 times per day. I did this for 3 and a half days and symptoms seemed to go away completely. This is probably all in my head because I feel guilty for receiving the oral sex while in a relationship but is it possible I could have an STD from receiving unprotected oral sex, and if so would I have had symptoms that soon?
My LLMD is changing my antibiotic treatment to Omnicef and Biaxin for 3 more months. Mainly because he believes Flagyl was responsible for my hormone imbalance and I wasn't able to keep it down since I got the flu. Has anyone been treated with this combination? It's the first time I have hear about it, but I have taken these before for other infections and did just fine. I am hopeful since my CD57 has gone up from 23 to 56. However, my IgM results show more Lyme.
