Avatar m tn Hi. I am taking omeprazole for laryngopharyngeal reflux for the past 2 days. I am supposed to take two pills daily, one before breakfast and one before dinner. Today, i started having this feeling that food is stuck in my chest and back of my throat but I don't have any problems swallowing. It is an uncomfortable feeling in my chest. I did not have this symptom prior to starting the drug. Is this a side effect of the drug?
Avatar m tn At first my wife had urinary infection, few weeks later she started to have fever and stomach problems, the docter told her it was a gastroenteritis. I bought her omeprazole and gave her amoxicilline, that worked. She felt fine, but few weeks later she had urinary infection symptoms again. The doctor gave her antibiotics again, that helped her.
581954 tn?1223391496 I am stopping my omeprazole and planning to get my vitamins naturally through food. Anybody who had similar issue and cured after stopping omeprazole?
Avatar n tn t correct the underlying problem, but it can alleviate a good deal of the pain associated with ulcers by reducing the amount of stomach acid (the actual substance causing the pain). Omeprazole and other PPIs can and do give ulcer patients a better quality of life while they heal.
Avatar f tn Avoid too much of caffeine, tea, smoking, fried food and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic fuzzy ones. Avoid heavy exercises within 4 hours of a heavy meal. Raise the head end of the bed by pillows to 30 degrees. Go to bet at least 2 hours after food. Maybe these tips will help you. You should see a gastroenterologist (a specialist who looks after the diseases of our digestive system) ASAP. Until then consult your PCP. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar f tn Sounds awful momma. I am 34 weeks and I have awful heartburn and the same feeling like food just dont go no where. I am now trying to eat smaller portions trough out the day instead of big meals. Try to contributed fiber in your food that helps me lots with constipation, I drink apple juice too it helps me, and lots lots of water. Hope this helps a bit, its just what works for me but everyone's systems are different.
Avatar f tn Ohh and opinions please on when to take this omeprazole, people say go against night time and have it in the morning.
Avatar f tn Have you looked at the signs and symptoms of GERD or GORD. This is chronic reflux which causes heatburn and gas. Increased stomach acid after eating exacerbates symptoms as does the sleeping position. Usually the GP will prescribe PPI's like Omeprazole. If you aint happy taking meds, try some lifestyle changes. Google GERD and GORD though and you'll get some good info.
Avatar f tn I sure could use some advice. Being at my wits end with these problems and now being on Medicare, the docs don't do much for me. I'm 74 yrs old, male, retired, very active. About 10 pounds overweight, other wise fine. Back problems are degenerative and rheumatoid(I think that's it) Problem: stomach problems. Had ulcers since teenager. Almost died with bleeding ulcers when I was 39.
Avatar n tn I've had a very sore throat for more than 5 weeks now. My tongue is also sore. My throat is frequently making squishing, gurgling and bubbling noises. There is always the sensation that something is stuck in my throat. I feel indigestion and discomfort after meals. I'm very worried that it can be soemthing really serious. I was diagnosed with acid reflux in 2008 when I had a slight sore throat that didn't go away and was prescribed with omeprazole.
Avatar n tn Is it all food or just some food. Have you been tested for food allergies. I have mild food allergies to peanuts, wheat, milk and eggs. When I eat peanuts my mouth burns and feels sore and then I get horrible stomach cramps followed by severe diarrhea, when I eat wheat I get sick with stomach cramps and diarrhea, when I eat eggs my throat feels itchy and swollen, when I eat diary products I have a hard time breathing and can get sick enough to vomit because of all of the mucus production.
Avatar m tn I have the same problem and was just prescribed omeprazole for one month, I cannot swallow or eat, should I take the omeprazole? Is it safe and will it help?
Avatar n tn Now in February 2016, I am having severe heartburns and no appetite at all. I am vomiting even small amounts of food. And my oesophagus feels significantly narrowed. I am taking PPIs (Omeprazole) from last 4 months but they are not helping. I had an endoscopy in early November and it showed everything was normal. Could anyone please help me with my condition?
Avatar n tn Avoid too much of caffeine, tea, smoking, fried food and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic fuzzy ones. Avoid heavy exercises within 4 hours of a heavy meal. Raise the head end of the bed by pillows to 30 degrees. Avoid lying down for least 2 hours after food. Maybe these tips will help you. If these tips do not help, then liver function test, pancreatic enzymes, and HIDA scan for gall bladder should be done.
Avatar n tn I have been taking omeprazole for 4 years and it has worked great for my acid reflux problem. In March of 2013, very quickly I developed severe itchy skin. Here it is January 2014 and I am pretty sure I have one of the possible side affects of taking omeprazole, severe itchy skin. Twice in the last month I stopped taking it for a few days and believe I even had a withdrawal side affect. This was when I was just falling to sleep it felt like I could not breath.
Avatar m tn I told my doctor and he recommended to try omeprazole (40 mg) for 30 days. I do not think that I have acid reflux, because my throat or esophagus does not hurt and there is no heart burn. All the pain is in the lower stomach. By stretching, or taking off elastic from undergarment, I can get relief from the pain. I thought the omeprazole was working, until recently when I had Taco Bell and my stomach hurt again. Doctor also said I could be lactose intolerant, but it is not set off by milk...
Avatar n tn I had an EGD for my acid reflux and after fasting all night, I still had food in my stomach. My doctor ordered a "stomach emptying" test that lasted 4 hours. After 4 hours, I still had food in my stomach, but I don't know how much. I'm waiting for my doctor to call. I don't have the usual symptoms (nausea, vomiting, weight loss). In fact I have no symptoms at all. I take Omeprazole for acid reflux/hiatal hernia, and I take Synthroid for hypothyroidism.
Avatar f tn The other reason could be due to esophageal reflux, where the food in your stomach is thrown up into your food pipe or esophagus. This also causes burning sensation or discomfort/pain in the chest area. Cough or heart problems too cause discomfort/pain in chest area. I would strongly recommend you see a physician about this. Another possibility is costochondritis (inflammation of the joint between rib and sternum. All the enumerated possibilities cause pain on and off.
Avatar f tn I'm a 42 year old guy, dealing with globus sensation for something like six months. The past 3 of them, taking omeprazole. Which is somewhat helping, a little. I guess. My main question is: Is it meaningful for globus to be worst when eating and drinking? Because every description of it I read says "the sensation goes away when eating or drinking, then comes back later." For me it's the opposite.
1363343 tn?1287161630 Take an OTC lactobacillus preparation and yoghurt with your meals. Drink plenty of fluids. Take over the counter antacid, omeprazole and antiemetic (this SOS for vomiting). Watch out for a day or two with this treatment. If this does not help, consult a doctor. Take care!
Avatar m tn Keep a journal as we all have different foods that are our triggers....this will better help you with what food you can eat and what you can not.... I was able to get my reflux calmed down to the point if I want to eat something that typically is a trigger I take my reflux meds an hour b4 I eat...this allows me to have some of the things I stay away from on a regular basis....and I do not require meds on a daily basis. Keep in mind during a flare water could cause issues....
1278638 tn?1271155367 She did an endoscopy and told me I had gastritis. She put me on Omeprazole and told me to not eat caffeine, alcohol, spicy food, etc. It is now April 2010. I have been on the acid reducers for seven months and for a while they were working and I was able to eat and I felt good. I went back to the stomach doctor for a check up and she told me to stop taking the omeprazole and take something less strong like zantac.
Avatar n tn I wonder whether I can just take Sulfasalazine and avoid Naproxen (pain killer) and Omeprazole (acid reducer) if pain is within my endurance level. I really dont want to upset my stomach by flooding with drugs. By the way, can the disease damage any joints in the later years even though drugs are being taken to control it. What are the percentage of recovery or is there any case of having full recovery.
Avatar f tn Also if nothing is found then food challenge test to detect food intolerance should be done. If Omeprazole and antacids do not help, go to a walk in clinic and consult a doctor there. Take care!
Avatar f tn It started when i went on a trip to a theme park and just started being sick about a minute after eating half of a sandwich. ( as it occurs when im nervous and also in the mornings quite a bit) but i just left that as food poisoning then about a 2 months later i go to another small theme park (i didn't eat as i felt sick, but smelt a lot of food smells) but i threw up again this time some gassy substance, i took some gaviscon to calm it (i threw it up).
Avatar n tn I am currently being treated for dyspepsia and gastritis and began taking omeprazole. In addition, I was constipated for a few days however had a BM yesterday. HOwever, there were black specks in my BM. BM was normal in color and texture however, black specks in stool and on toilet tissue? Is this the IBS adn result of constipation and omeprazole?
