omega-3

1762978 tn?1313614515 Krill oil is high in EPA and DHA, two forms of omega 3 fatty acids which can lower cholesterol and some believe it can lower blood pressure as well by helping control LDL, reducing the amount of plaques in your arteries and thinning your blood. None of this has been proven. There are a couple things to remember before you start using krill oil. First, it is a supplement and as such is not controlled by the FDA.
Avatar n tn I am 35 years old and never thought I had HIgh Blood pressure until recently. As I am into my higher studies, when visiting the doctor for a fall, they told me I had high pressure readings of 160/110. My pulse was also high, ( I was diagnosed with tachycardia some years ago which was again put down to stress.) They put it down to anxiety and stress, and gave me atenenol 25 mg. Since then I have developed a fear, and my pulse raises whenever the doctor checks my pressure, and my pressure is high.
Avatar f tn Please take a diet rich in multivitamins, multiminerals and Omega 3. Omega 3 fatty acids help in reducing the blood pressure. You need to exercise regularly. Even a brisk walk for 30 min. helps to bring down the blood pressure. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!

Avatar f tn I'm taking pregnancy multivitamins and I'm also on iron tablets 3 times a day but someone gave me omega 3 tablets and I'm unsure if to take them because it says it can lower blood pressure but I've been told mines quite low already and I'm not sure if they will interfere with my iron tabs...
Avatar m tn Today I am at 110/69. I am losing weight and eating better than I did 3 months ago. 3 months ago I was at 230lbs, and I would always get these pains in my chest and my heart would beat fast. Current weight 207lbs. Cardiologist said I have too many extra beats and put me on Atenolol on Tuesday. But he doesn't know about my history of HBP from my family doctor. My BP had always been high since last year.
Avatar n tn Too much of this fatty acid will do serious harm. So try to keep your omega 3s high and your omega 6s low. It’s pretty easy to do with a little effort and well worth it. Just make sure you avoid the worst foods. These include: Grain-fed beef, Grain-fed chicken, Processed foods, Fried foods, Vegetable oils Try to get more saturated fats into your diet. These can really help to reduce inflammation.
122065 tn?1241385329 Yes, I do take ******* Omega Guard which is a full spectrum of seven Omega-3's including DHA and EPA. I understand that there have been many studies on the benefits of Omega Fish oil on the eyes and body as a whole, so I started using it sometime ago. I'll continue with that and give the Restasis a good try. I have no risk factors such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes or obesity, so I think your suggestion of 2 a day is fine.
Avatar f tn You should be taking omega 3 in any case. Statins, by lowering cholesterol, also interfere with the absorption of fat soluble nutrients, which of course includes omega 3. The most important for the heart is EFA, which is found in largest amounts in fish oil, but flax and hemp oil are also very high in omega 3 oils. But omega 3 oils don't do the same thing as statins. Statins lower LDL cholesterol, the bad kind, whereas omega 3 oils provide the good kind of cholesterol, HDL.
Avatar f tn Taking a supplement is fine. Plenty of foods besides fish have omegas. And omega 6 and 9 are also important.
Avatar f tn I've purchased galic and parsley tablets as well as Omega 3-6-9 tablets in the hope of getting my colesterol levels to a normal numbering. But today I read that Omega 6 isn't that good as it could counter the effect of Omega 3 and induce inflammation. Now I"m wondering if I just spent 30$ for nothing. What do you think?
1324852 tn?1274769339 Alright, so I have another question about high blood pressure and heart disease. I just turned 18 about a couple of months ago and found that my blood pressure was a bit high. I've posted before my BP was 140/80, than checked it a couple of times and it was around 138/72 and 142/64. I've tried a lot of things, eating less, working out, and even cutting on the salt a bit, but it only seems as if my blood pressure is getting dramatically higher.
Avatar n tn I am not sure of your question. Are you asking where omega 3 and omega 6 foods come from? Omegas 3 / 6 are polyunsaturated oils that help lower cholesterol and help prevent blood platelets from clotting blood vessel walls. The best source is fish especially mackerel, tuna, salmon, and lake trout. Fish should be eaten 2-3 times a week. Omega 3 are found in whole nuts, soy nuts / oil, and canola oil. Recommend 1-2 teaspoons of nuts daily. Hope this answered your question.
Avatar m tn My Triglycerides however, have gone from 195 in 2009 to 325 in July 2012. I have added Omega-3 Fish Oil vitamin in the morning, and changed my diet somewhat. I am not eating as much fat, added Fiber, fruits, and some daily veggies (Spinach, Carrots, Cucumber, Peppers) into my diet as a salad every night. I am not using fatty dressing but Balsamic Vinegar and fresh lemon as dressing. Also changed to whole wheat carbs (bread, pasta, etc.). I never have been big on sweets.
Avatar n tn high dosages of omega 3 and lift weights, power through that and you will be better
Avatar m tn s based on clean protein intake(chicken,fish,0%fat cheese, beef, eggs etc) around 150g of protein a day 200-500g of complex carbs (white/brown rice, potatoes and outmeal) and 50-100g of omega 3 fats coming from Olive oil, lot's of nuts. And lots of veggies. And my salt intake is rly low, under 5g a day.
603543 tn?1255294450 m not trying to be a spoiler, but I did the Omega 3 thing for 6 months at high dosages. The Omega 3 suppliment I was using was top grade from a health store. It cost twice as much as other formulas because of it higher quality. 6 full months of this Omega 3 experiment produced absolutly no improvement in my Severe depression. Perhaps my condition is more severe than your and that's why I failed to respond to it.
Avatar f tn before I started treating my Dr, had me taking omega 3-6-9 and vit D omega 1000 three times a day and D once. Finished treatment in march and still take the omega and d, didnt want me to stop. See him again in september for 6 month eot. I do see a hepatologist at a transplant ctr.
Avatar n tn Good foods to eat are fresh vegetables, salmon with omega 3 (omega 3 is great for the heart), brown rice. Avoid fast food and processed meats.
Avatar f tn My husband used IV chelation to remove plaque. Before the chelation he had high blood pressure. After it, he didn't. Traditional medicine does not support chelation. But then, there are a lot of tried and true treatments that they don't support.
