Diuretics? I have been on Benicar (olmesartan) for many years, works very nicely. Amlodipinealso said to work nicely but may diminish your taste reception.

white male in generally good health, maybe 5 or 10 lbs overweight, with well-controlled hypertension, no family history of bad diseases. Ordinarily, I take benicar (medoximil olmesartan) 20 mg to control my BP, which is normally in the range of 110--130 / 70--80. I measure my BP at home using an Omron Intellisense meter. I do a brisk 2.5 mile walk several times a week, and I also go to the gym, usually 1x or 2x/week.

Is there any reasons to prefer or take losartan above olmesartan or the olmesartan above losartan. Person taking these is african, 57 years, female and oh, my mother.

I'm on Benicar HCT, have been for many years. Benicar is in a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. Benicar keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow. Benicar HCT has a diuretic included as well. I have been fortunate, Benicar has worked from the first day I took it and works well still today. My 90 day average BP is 108/67 down from 135/85 when I started. I have had no side effects as well, the best of both worlds!

Thought we finally found one that worked. The doctor gave me Benicar 20mg and it helped (so did losing 20 pounds) but my BP was still borderline. Then he increased the Benicar to 40 mg. I am having some strange issues that I think are from the Benicar. When I awake from sleeping I have trouble opening my left eyelid. Once I am up this goes away. Now all of a sudden I cannot put the milk gallon in the refrigerator without using two hands.

I'm on Toprol XL, Cardizem, Benicar along with Lasix for HTN. I have a BUN of 32 (up from 24 a month ago) with a creatinine of 1.2. Can it be medication related? I am not overweight nor do I overuse salt, but am concerned about kidney failture.

I recently had open heart surgery, 4 bypasses. I was on Benicar 20mg. a day before the surgery along with Zocor to control cholesterol. I am now on Plavix, Toprol XL, Zocor and Benicar. My blood pressure has been low, in the range of 90/60 since the surgery but the cardiologist wants me to continue the Benicar. He said it's "good for the heart". Has anyone ever heard of this before? My understanding was that Benicar is for high BP.

I've recently been having terrible anxiety and one of the changes in my life is that I've started taking Benicar 40mg for high blood pressure. I saw on a post somewhere that benicar can cause this. Has anyone else heard of this?

About a year ago I was put on high blood pressure medication, Benicar 20mg a day. I have never had any types of heart issue and in the last year have developed or started to notice regular PVC's. I have had them checked out and they are PVC's and they drive me nuts because they make me feel real uncomfortable. Could the PVC's be caused by the benicar?

Dear Doctor, I am a healthy 36 year old male. In the last year I was put on Benicar 20 mg for high blood pressure. In that year I have began to notice PVC's that started occassionally and now are happening everyday all day. They drive me crazy. My blood pressure is under control and I exercise regularly. Could the Benicar cause the PVC's? I have had them checked out with my doctor and they tell me that they are okay and that they are PVC's. They drive insane.

Initially was put on temisartan 40mg by Doc, used it for 3-4 months and later dosage was reduced to 20mg but later switched to another medicine, olmesartan medoxomil hydrochlorothiazide (20+12.5) and since then using the same tablet till recently My readings were pretty normal and infact my doc was convinced and wanted to reduce my dosage to only olmesartan medoxomil. Of late i have developed severe anxiety disorder and panic attacks, so started using Inderal 20 on the advice of Psychiatrist.

I have being training for several running races for 5 months. Before going into a preparation for a half marathon training, I went to the cardiologist to do a check up, as I know my BP always was borderline to be considered high. I did Echo, Stress tests and 24h BP measurements. Just curious, I was started on Benicar HCT 40/12.5 about 3 or 4 years ago at a time when I was at my peak weight, well over 300 pounds, not taking very good care of myself and not exercising. My blood pressure was running around 140/85 at the time. I underwent some cardiac work ups due to some chest pain over that time period including a couple of Nuclear Stress Tests and Echos along with all the blood work that is usually done, all tests were always normal.

The chest pain has returned and the diastolic pressure is 53.I am currently on benicar hct 40/25 and my bp has been 126/53. Should I stop taking the benicar? Not sure what to make of the chest pain.I am a 48 yr. old female other wise in good health.

I believe I used this function years ago and got a list of doctors. My doctor who I have now uses Benicar, however does not follow all aspects of the protocol. She says the Benicar helps the antibiotics work better which I guess is the theory behind the Marshall Protocol. You can also try to google "marshall protocol doctors" and see what comes up.

I am going in for gallbladder removal in 4 days and no one has told me to stop taking Benicar HCT beforehand. I'm on a 20/12.5 dose once daily, so it's pretty low, but won't it possibly cause problems with the anaesthesia/barbituates or if they have to give me morphine afterwards (not likely, but possible)?

He changed my meds and prescribed 40mg olmesartan while waiting for the results to ease the symptoms. After 3 days, chest pain and shortness of breath was significantly reduced however I became dizzy when standing from sitting or lying down position. Doctor said orthostatic hypotension but was probably just dehydrated. Tried to cut the dose to 20mg and dizziness went away but the chest pain came back. So went back to 40mg. Tests came back. ECG normal. Echocardiogram, normal ventricles.

Someone suggested that I consider inner imaging screening (EBT Hart scan). I am on Lipitor and Vytorin, I was taken off of Benicar two months ago because of the back pain and an elevated CPK 200's. I experience variuos fluctuations even using Benicar. My blood pressure had some for some reason risen to 170/101 two months ago and my primary doctor prescribed Benicar. Well, it reduce my blood pressure to the normal range, but it fluctuates to as low as 86/54 and up to 136/86.
