I am no Dr. but if that's what your doc said to do...it is probably fine. If you don't feel comfortable you can always ask him/her to ween you off of the olazapine slowly.
But, seroquel is a strong drug..so, I think you will be fine.
But, again, I am no dr.
So once you start treatment, your doctor may adjust your prescription to a higher dose if the starting dose is not effective. It is always advisable to start the drug at lower potency and slowly increase its potency as need be. Please also discuss with your thoughts with your doctor.

if i remember olanzapine/zyprexa dose is 5-20mg. so 5 is the least and 20 is max though some take more of course. now because the range is small monitoring the dose is difficult. for example i am on seroquel 150mg which makes me sleepy while 125 is little. so i fix my dose to 125 and each 5 days or so i add 25mg once only and this adjusts my dose. sometimes i take a daily benzo of 1.5mg but not regularly.

I have been diagnosed and treated for psychotic depression, OCD, anxiety for last few years. I was on olanzapine for 1 year (5mg), and it worked like making me sleepy really quickly and knocked me out in within 10 mins. Then I was on and off basis as I was not so glad to taking medications because all next I was sleepy. Recently my condition has worsened and I am taking 2.5 mg as said by doctor (take when required and your condition etc).
my cholesterol is under control and at decent levels My blood pressure was borderline high in the past and I have been taking quinapril for a while now. (max dose). My blood pressure was better at ~ 120/90. I also take bupropion xl and was taking olanzipine. I have stopped the olanzapine, after long term use. Coming off the olanzapine, I have had more anxiety and more emotion, and have not slept very well. After stopping olanzapine, my BP was checked and was now high again at 148/110.
I never had any spasms on it. It was the olanzapine and it took only one dose. Before that i also tried risperidone for a month so who knows.

I was put on olanzapine an anti phycotic on top of my fluvoxamine meleate 200mg for deap depression after and home invasion. While the olanzaoine was helpful with my depression i think it was also causing leg pain. the longer I took it for the worse the pain got and more pain meds I needed to take to get threw my day to just walk. Once I was strong enough to come off olanzapine I weaned my self off and the leg pain started to get better over time.
While I have not taken it, I know that a good deal of the antipsychotics out there, including olanzapine, can cause sedation. Antipsychotics can also be activating where they will cause insomnia if you take them before falling asleep. I'm sure there are people here who have taken it and experienced sedation.
They took me to psychiatrist that put me on olanzapine 10mg and kept me in the hospital for 10 days. Traumatic experience. Than after 2-3 months the doctor put me on 7mg, and now I'm on 5 mg olanzapine. It was harder to cope with rest of the world the first few mounts. I didn''t want to do the things I wanted, It was hard to cope with my previous social life, I felt like I have nothing to talk to my friends, like my brain is empty, like I'm brain washed.

Im actually terrified at this moment. Theres so little info on this disorder but i feel there may be a genetic predisposition to it too. For instance, you and i may take the same amt of seroquel..but i develop TD due to my mom having it.
HI, I was on Lexapro for only three months I never could get to the prescribed dose of 10mgs. I only got up to 5mgs. After only being n it for 3 months getting off of it was brutal. I had severe anxiety for about 6 months after stopping it and yes insomnia. I took about 6 weeks weaning off of it slowly but it didn't much help. Prozac has a much longer half life and I think weaning off of it is easier. You probably shouldn't stop it all at once but rather taper it down slowly anyway.
Okay, I also have a teen son that has had similar struggles. I wonder if he is not neurodiverse. Has this come up before? Autistic, adhd, add, sensory integration disorder. what you describe is similar to things you can see when that is the case. My son had nights/days all backwards. Boy that was hard. He does take an ssri. He takes lexapro. He's had others and in fact we had quite a med journey. He's olanzapine +flourextine along with paxil is an odd combo.
5mg and Buproprion XL 300mg... After a couple months and not much change my doctor adds in Olanzapine 5mg, problem is I've been doing a bit of research online and am now too nervous to take the Olanzapine(Zyprexa) with the Clonazepam(Klonopin). Every thing I've seen has basically said that these two can interact very badly causing shallow breathing, loss of consciousness, etc. It would be much appreciated if I could get some feedback from anyone who has taken the two together.
