How long were you on olanzapine and how long have you been off? Do you have any insomnia? Are you experiencing emotions again? Do you feel motivated?
I am about to switch from olanzapine to seroquel. Is it ok to just stop taking olanzapine and start taking seroquel? I am on a very low dose of olanzapine.
I had also over the past 6 months experienced tingling in the feet and legs which I believe is a side effect of long term use off olanzapine. I have been very concerned over the servere pain in my feet as it is all over the foot and can be painful to walk on. I have had several tests from the doctor and they have come back clear, no arthritis or anything of that nature.
While I have not taken it, I know that a good deal of the antipsychotics out there, including olanzapine, can cause sedation. Antipsychotics can also be activating where they will cause insomnia if you take them before falling asleep. I'm sure there are people here who have taken it and experienced sedation.
Both Olanzapine and Resperidone are atypical antipsychotics. So, basically, you will be taking the same class of antipsychotics. Resperidone is however a very potent antipsychotic. The response to treatment has been found to be more stable with Resperidone, so that’s a plus point with this drug. Both drugs cause similar side effects, but Olanzapine shows fewer motor function side effects than Resperidone in comaparative clinical trials.
They took me to psychiatrist that put me on olanzapine 10mg and kept me in the hospital for 10 days. Traumatic experience. Than after 2-3 months the doctor put me on 7mg, and now I'm on 5 mg olanzapine. It was harder to cope with rest of the world the first few mounts. I didn''t want to do the things I wanted, It was hard to cope with my previous social life, I felt like I have nothing to talk to my friends, like my brain is empty, like I'm brain washed.
I also take bupropion xl and was taking olanzipine. I have stopped the olanzapine, after long term use. Coming off the olanzapine, I have had more anxiety and more emotion, and have not slept very well. After stopping olanzapine, my BP was checked and was now high again at 148/110. The doc has added on amlodipine also. I am still on the bupropion xl but now am titrating up on lamotrigine.

I have been diagnosed and treated for psychotic depression, OCD, anxiety for last few years. I was on olanzapine for 1 year (5mg), and it worked like making me sleepy really quickly and knocked me out in within 10 mins. Then I was on and off basis as I was not so glad to taking medications because all next I was sleepy. Recently my condition has worsened and I am taking 2.5 mg as said by doctor (take when required and your condition etc).
ve decided (and sent an email) to talk to the NP at the pain clinic about switching me over to a long-acting medication for my pain. I'm thinking it will give me better relief. Even though I'm on a high dose now (45 mg. every 4 hours of oxycodone,) my pain seems to return after 2 to 3 hours. And I did have a bad flare-up this weekend; most likely due to the fact I ran low on medication due to my script not coming in the mail.
Now it's a question of which medication???
ve had to deal with highs and lows for a long time, with antidepressants either not working or sending me walking with angels and talking to trees....After this I took olanzapine 5mg. I think it worked on the mood but it's hard to tell because they made me so unbelievably anxious, whilst sedating me so that I felt I couldn't participate in conversations because my thinking was so slowed. I also lost a lot of my energy and drive to do anything. I'm now on 2.5mg.
5mg and Buproprion XL 300mg... After a couple months and not much change my doctor adds in Olanzapine 5mg, problem is I've been doing a bit of research online and am now too nervous to take the Olanzapine(Zyprexa) with the Clonazepam(Klonopin). Every thing I've seen has basically said that these two can interact very badly causing shallow breathing, loss of consciousness, etc. It would be much appreciated if I could get some feedback from anyone who has taken the two together.
Last night I took my first olanzapine pill(5mg), for panic attacks and apparently I did some weird
things in my sleep. My girlfriend said my legs were twitching, and sounded like I was choking when I was
snoring. It only happened last night, and not this morning when I was sleeping. I feel normal today,
just a little dizzy(I slept 15 hours).
Is this normal?? Thanks

BT pain is not a new concept.
Of course, I've had pharmacists ask (when reading my Rx), "What is BT pain?"
Chronic pain is not taught in medical schools, except as a side. Perhaps we need a new word -- when people see "chronic pain" they probably believe its like the pain of a broken bone, only it lasts longer.
I have no idea what kind of education a pharmacy PhD grad receives on the disease state known as chronic pain.
While many doctors do prescribe a short acting med along with the long acting med, the short acting meds are typically written to be taking AS NEEDED for breakthrough pain (of course, also giving a time frame such as every 6 hours) - the breakthrough meds are not typically written to be taken EVERY day. In fact, the goal of a long acting med is to reduce the need for breakthrough meds. therefore, you may or may not need to take any more narcotic than what is in your long acting med.
1/4 of 20 fluoxetine and 5mg olanzapine combo and 3/4 lorazepam is high or low.
