zyprexa

Avatar f tn While I have not taken it, I know that a good deal of the antipsychotics out there, including olanzapine, can cause sedation. Antipsychotics can also be activating where they will cause insomnia if you take them before falling asleep. I'm sure there are people here who have taken it and experienced sedation.
603015 tn?1329862973 Hi I have started to tapper off olanzapine because of the weight gain, I have noticed that after just a week on the reduced amount I have started to have sleep problems, I am finding it harder and harder to get to sleep, then when I do get to sleep I am waking through the night, could this be the reduction in the med and what should I do if anything, im not due to see me pdoc until 1 june when I would be fully off this med.
Avatar f tn I was put on olanzapine an anti phycotic on top of my fluvoxamine meleate 200mg for deap depression after and home invasion. While the olanzaoine was helpful with my depression i think it was also causing leg pain. the longer I took it for the worse the pain got and more pain meds I needed to take to get threw my day to just walk. Once I was strong enough to come off olanzapine I weaned my self off and the leg pain started to get better over time.

Avatar f tn did zypreza cause my insomnia ? it all started around janurary 22 2008 i was having some bad times me and my boyfriend broke up after 8 years and someone sent a message to my myspace display page saying that i was being tested on the new LSD yeah i know any way before i saw that message i was very depress and sad and was getting sleep but waking up on and off in the middle of the night. before that i was able to sleep 6 hours without waking up.
Avatar f tn In order to wean off of the lorazepam, you will have to decrease the dose very slowly. If you are currently taking one 1mg tablet at bedtime, you can decrease that to 0.5mg (half a tablet) at bedtime for a week or so. If that doesn’t work, you can try to cut the tablets into quarters and take 0.75mg. Just monitor how you feel to be sure you are not experiencing withdrawal symptoms. I would also discuss this with your prescribing physician as well.
Avatar f tn Over the last 6 months ive tried every med out there for sleep and nothing has helped. Ive had severe insomnia since i was a child. Anyways ive tried various antipsychotics through my psychiatrist. The most recent one i tried was olanzapine. The thing is, i only took 2 doses and right away i got muscle spasms and tics through my entire body. I came off it. Its been one week and the spasms havent stopped.

8798274 tn?1399988458 Hi, Zyprexa (olanzapine) is used to treat the symptoms of psychotic conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. You should always follow the directions of your doctor regarding medications. Your doctor knows you and is able to take your numerous specific circumstances into consideration when deciding what medication and how much is likely appropriate for you specifically.

Avatar m tn It’s been 90 days since I quit. I had been suffering from chronic insomnia and I visited a doctor on the 7th of this month and he put me on Fluoxetine (Prozac) and Olanzapine. I'd like your input on these drugs. For the first few days I felt pretty good. But again from the last 6 or 7 days I have started feeling weird. I am starting to feel the same thing I was feeling before I consulted this doctor.
Avatar f tn I am about to switch from olanzapine to seroquel. Is it ok to just stop taking olanzapine and start taking seroquel? I am on a very low dose of olanzapine.
1848481 tn?1319676852 I found Zyprexa to be sedating as is generally common although each person responds differently to each medication. Some medications did cause me to have insomnia although this is far less common with Zyprexa. Sometimes I found that some medications when they were started or raised would give me a temporary feeling of euphoria which would then go back to stability. I did speak to my psychiatrist and he said this can happen.
Avatar m tn HI, I was on Lexapro for only three months I never could get to the prescribed dose of 10mgs. I only got up to 5mgs. After only being n it for 3 months getting off of it was brutal. I had severe anxiety for about 6 months after stopping it and yes insomnia. I took about 6 weeks weaning off of it slowly but it didn't much help. Prozac has a much longer half life and I think weaning off of it is easier. You probably shouldn't stop it all at once but rather taper it down slowly anyway.
603015 tn?1329862973 I am coming off olanzapine and I have stopped sleeping properly, I do not want this to trigger and episode. I seem to be finding it harder and harder to get to sleep and then waking up several times, I think im getting about 3-5 hours sleep, I was sleeping 8-9 hours before. I have only had one reduction of the med so far and am about to have the next reduction. Any advise on how I can overcome this problem as sleep deprevation has always been a big trigger for me.
Avatar n tn Both Olanzapine and Resperidone are atypical antipsychotics. So, basically, you will be taking the same class of antipsychotics. Resperidone is however a very potent antipsychotic. The response to treatment has been found to be more stable with Resperidone, so that’s a plus point with this drug. Both drugs cause similar side effects, but Olanzapine shows fewer motor function side effects than Resperidone in comaparative clinical trials.
Avatar f tn They took me to psychiatrist that put me on olanzapine 10mg and kept me in the hospital for 10 days. Traumatic experience. Than after 2-3 months the doctor put me on 7mg, and now I'm on 5 mg olanzapine. It was harder to cope with rest of the world the first few mounts. I didn''t want to do the things I wanted, It was hard to cope with my previous social life, I felt like I have nothing to talk to my friends, like my brain is empty, like I'm brain washed.

Avatar f tn 5mg and Buproprion XL 300mg... After a couple months and not much change my doctor adds in Olanzapine 5mg, problem is I've been doing a bit of research online and am now too nervous to take the Olanzapine(Zyprexa) with the Clonazepam(Klonopin). Every thing I've seen has basically said that these two can interact very badly causing shallow breathing, loss of consciousness, etc. It would be much appreciated if I could get some feedback from anyone who has taken the two together.
Avatar f tn The worst withdrawal effects that I suffer from are extreme apathy and insomnia. I have seen posts from others that suffer from this as well, but untill now it doesn't get better and I get worried. Does anyone know how long the apathy and sleeping disorder will continue? Has anyone had the same for such a long period of time? Can anyone suggest what I should do? I have seen people start taking zyprexa again, but I would rather not take zyprexa again.
603015 tn?1329862973 I have reduced my olanzapine 2 weeks ago and I am wounderring if this is the reason, it seem a little coincidental. Not sure what im asking I just needed to get it out of my head as I cant speak to my husband even though he is supportive he just doesnt get it.
Avatar f tn I have been on olanzapine for 15 years and has helped me greatly with anxiety, and other mental health conditions. I am 35 years old and have over the past 7 weeks experienced extreme pain in my feet and ankles. I had also over the past 6 months experienced tingling in the feet and legs which I believe is a side effect of long term use off olanzapine. I have been very concerned over the servere pain in my feet as it is all over the foot and can be painful to walk on.
Avatar m tn Last night I took my first olanzapine pill(5mg), for panic attacks and apparently I did some weird things in my sleep. My girlfriend said my legs were twitching, and sounded like I was choking when I was snoring. It only happened last night, and not this morning when I was sleeping. I feel normal today, just a little dizzy(I slept 15 hours). Is this normal?? Thanks Also, I can't stop sleeping!
Avatar m tn Hello, I have been diagnosed and treated for psychotic depression, OCD, anxiety for last few years. I was on olanzapine for 1 year (5mg), and it worked like making me sleepy really quickly and knocked me out in within 10 mins. Then I was on and off basis as I was not so glad to taking medications because all next I was sleepy. Recently my condition has worsened and I am taking 2.5 mg as said by doctor (take when required and your condition etc).
