While I have not taken it, I know that a good deal of the antipsychotics out there, including olanzapine, can cause sedation. Antipsychotics can also be activating where they will cause insomnia if you take them before falling asleep. I'm sure there are people here who have taken it and experienced sedation.

Hi I have started to tapper off olanzapine because of the weight gain, I have noticed that after just a week on the reduced amount I have started to have sleep problems, I am finding it harder and harder to get to sleep, then when I do get to sleep I am waking through the night, could this be the reduction in the med and what should I do if anything, im not due to see me pdoc until 1 june when I would be fully off this med.

I am about to switch from olanzapine to seroquel. Is it ok to just stop taking olanzapine and start taking seroquel? I am on a very low dose of olanzapine.

I was put on olanzapine an anti phycotic on top of my fluvoxamine meleate 200mg for deap depression after and home invasion. While the olanzaoine was helpful with my depression i think it was also causing leg pain. the longer I took it for the worse the pain got and more pain meds I needed to take to get threw my day to just walk. Once I was strong enough to come off olanzapine I weaned my self off and the leg pain started to get better over time.

Will Olanzapine help with withdrawals from Oxycodone. I am down to 10mg of Oxy and it has been a fight for me.. I did wean myself off Hydrocodone which made me happy but then I got on oxy 30 mg and have reduced my dosage. Will this medicine help me.

Hi im desperatly in need to know of a good bipolar medication that doesnt make me gain weight, I was on olanzapine and I gained loads, then they put me on abilifyand I got 13 of the uncommon side effects, then they put me on sulpiride but they are similar to olanzapine,and all the time ive been on lamotrigine, but they dont seem to work as well on their own. At the mo ive stopped taking my meds and finding it hard, can anyone help please?

Both Olanzapine and Resperidone are atypical antipsychotics. So, basically, you will be taking the same class of antipsychotics. Resperidone is however a very potent antipsychotic. The response to treatment has been found to be more stable with Resperidone, so that’s a plus point with this drug. Both drugs cause similar side effects, but Olanzapine shows fewer motor function side effects than Resperidone in comaparative clinical trials.

They took me to psychiatrist that put me on olanzapine 10mg and kept me in the hospital for 10 days. Traumatic experience. Than after 2-3 months the doctor put me on 7mg, and now I'm on 5 mg olanzapine. It was harder to cope with rest of the world the first few mounts. I didn''t want to do the things I wanted, It was hard to cope with my previous social life, I felt like I have nothing to talk to my friends, like my brain is empty, like I'm brain washed.

I need to get back on seroquel as its the only thing that helps me sleep, but now im too afraid. I hsvent slept at all after my shift tonight im laying in bed and my leg is jerking all over the place. Along with my fingers.

5mg and Buproprion XL 300mg... After a couple months and not much change my doctor adds in Olanzapine 5mg, problem is I've been doing a bit of research online and am now too nervous to take the Olanzapine(Zyprexa) with the Clonazepam(Klonopin). Every thing I've seen has basically said that these two can interact very badly causing shallow breathing, loss of consciousness, etc. It would be much appreciated if I could get some feedback from anyone who has taken the two together.

i have been taking upto 1000mg a day..im hoping now that im on the Olanzapine it should help me cut down the DHC..if anyone has any advice i would love to hear from you.

Anyways ive tried various antipsychotics through my psychiatrist. The most recent one i tried was olanzapine. The thing is, i only took 2 doses and right away i got muscle spasms and tics through my entire body. I came off it. Its been one week and the spasms havent stopped. They happen every few seconds in my toes legs, my fingers also completely jerk and move on their own. My fingers are the worst. There are movements in my face eyes and lips too but they are minor compared to my body.

I have been on olanzapine for 15 years and has helped me greatly with anxiety, and other mental health conditions. I am 35 years old and have over the past 7 weeks experienced extreme pain in my feet and ankles. I had also over the past 6 months experienced tingling in the feet and legs which I believe is a side effect of long term use off olanzapine. I have been very concerned over the servere pain in my feet as it is all over the foot and can be painful to walk on.

Last night I took my first olanzapine pill(5mg), for panic attacks and apparently I did some weird things in my sleep. My girlfriend said my legs were twitching, and sounded like I was choking when I was snoring. It only happened last night, and not this morning when I was sleeping. Hello, I have been diagnosed and treated for psychotic depression, OCD, anxiety for last few years. I was on olanzapine for 1 year (5mg), and it worked like making me sleepy really quickly and knocked me out in within 10 mins. Then I was on and off basis as I was not so glad to taking medications because all next I was sleepy. Recently my condition has worsened and I am taking 2.5 mg as said by doctor (take when required and your condition etc).

Hi there So I'm not officially bipolar but I've had to deal with highs and lows for a long time, with antidepressants either not working or sending me walking with angels and talking to trees....After this I took olanzapine 5mg. I think it worked on the mood but it's hard to tell because they made me so unbelievably anxious, whilst sedating me so that I felt I couldn't participate in conversations because my thinking was so slowed.

m used to taking at least 4mgs at least...as offten as possable. I read up on Symbyax and it containes IM-Olanzapine, and that there has been 29 deaths since September 30th 2005 due to mixing the IM-Olanxapine and xanax...so My question more less is...Is there anybody familiar with this that can tell me if they have personally mixed the two before and what was the outcome, or if anybody has any information about the two had being mixed?

Thank you for your kind words, im doing everything else im supposed to do like exercise, going to bed on time, reduced the caffine but I cant seem to shake this cloud that has come over me, im trying really hard but when I smile its just fake, I hate feeling like this.

I also take bupropion xl and was taking olanzipine. I have stopped the olanzapine, after long term use. Coming off the olanzapine, I have had more anxiety and more emotion, and have not slept very well. After stopping olanzapine, my BP was checked and was now high again at 148/110. The doc has added on amlodipine also. I am still on the bupropion xl but now am titrating up on lamotrigine.

I saw a psychologist who gave me olanzapine to take and suggested I may be bipolar but I have refused to go back as I do not respect their opinion as they assumsed to think I was either bipolar or normal and did not take into consideration any other disorders. In the last 2 1/2 years I have also dealt with confusion about my sexuality which I have now mainly resolved (I'm straight).

t be the medication tho I was taking NOTHING else but me and my GP saw those twitches and tremors alright! ) ..swapped to 1 x 5mg olanzapine for three weeks and now okay enough to Research, tremors decreased by 90% but packing on the weight despite regular exercise.With sedation I get my situation under control and my fears scuttle off far enough away for me to live outside of four walls...

dear nicc, Ive been on sodium valproate for about six years, previously i was on olanzapine. I think that everyone 's reaction to medications is fairly unique as I dont find memory loss or fogginess a problem with the valproate . what i can say is what your describing sounds very familiar to how i felt as a teenager on olanzapine, i remember my emotions were dulled down and i didnt feel i had a personality .so i think it is very likely that ur medication is giving you these responses.
