Oily skin bumps

Common Questions and Answers about Oily skin bumps

Avatar m tn Hello, In oily skin, the oil producing sebaceous glands are overactive and produce more oil than is needed. The oil oozes and gives the skin a greasy shine. It can be caused by heredity, diet, hormone levels, pregnancy, birth control pills and hot and humid weather. Oily skin needs special cleansing with plenty of hot water and soap to prevent the pores from being clogged. Avoid harsh products that strip your skin of oil and encourage flakiness.
Avatar n tn I had severe acne, oily skin and cysts till I was 32yrs old. I am now 33 and almost acne free. I still get acne but not enough to panic. I had it really bad. I believe I found a regimen that worked for me. I was in the same boat as you. This is what I did and it finally worked after trying every med and over the counter product there ever was. Here is my regimen, of by the way, I am really light skinned and have oily skin. I stopped drinking milk, I noticed when I drank milk I developed cysts.
Avatar n tn If your body produces more androgens that it needs you will have oily skin. Bacteria on the skin feeds off this excess oil, clogging the pores and resulting in acne. One month is not a very long time to take antibiotics for acne. They may need to be taken for at least 8-12 weeks or longer. Differin is designed to be used every night, unless your skin is particularly sensitive. Cleansing alone will not heal acne, and switching between face washes will not be harmful. Eloise.

Avatar m tn Is this a good face washing schedule for my oily, acne skin? Morning: 1. Face Cleanse (Salicylic Acid). 2. Face Scrub (Exfoliate). 3. Moisturizer. Night: 1. Face Cleanse (Salicylic Acid). 2. Benzoyl Peroxide.
Avatar f tn I have oily hair and sometimes I get build up (usually just small skin bumps) that itch and sometimes hurt...after I wash my hair it is fine but if I switch to a new shampoo it starts up again...is this psoriasis or some type of eczema? Maybe I just have a dry scalp? nothing serious...
Avatar n tn This could make oil glands to become more active and makes oily skin oilier. It would be best to stop these skin care products for the time being. And it is important to keep your face clean and dry all the time. Avoid using any chemicals or masks in the face. Are there other signs or symptoms present? If you have a history of allergies, this could also be the case. Anti histamine medications may be helpful with the itching.
Avatar f tn After doing some research, I believe it is an over production and build up of sebum on the scalp. I have had acne problems, have rosacea, and my skin and hair is very oily. I found balancing shampoos on line that are supposed to prevent sebum build up. Aveda is one of them, but I haven't tried it. Sebum: substance with an oily consistency produced by the sebaceous glands. It lubricates hair, is an antifungal/antibacterial, and imparts waterproofing properties to the skin.
Avatar n tn Recently I've developed tiny, skin colored bumps that are slowly taking over my face. They rarely itch and they don't sting or burn. They're just hard bumps. I've exfoliated to the extreme and have tried to dry them out with benzol peroxide, and it does start to improve, but then the rest of my face suffers. I was just at SkinHealth on Newberry St and the doctor there said I had some infection that was spreading. She said I might have picked it up from a yoga mat.
Avatar n tn It is a skin disorder affecting the scalp, face, and trunk causing scaly, flaky, itchy, red skin. It particularly affects the sebum-gland rich areas of skin. Side effects to inflammation may include temporary hair loss. If severe outbreaks are untreated for extended intervals, permanent hair loss may result, because of damage to hair follicles. http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar n tn I sometimes moisturize the rest of my face, except my forehead when it feels dry. The oiliness is decreasing, I don't wake up with oily shiny skin. However, the bumps/clogged pores on my forehead and post acne marks (hyperpigmentation) aren't really improving. I've been using cleansers/exfoliants with salycylic acid for around 3 weeks now because I researched that it's great for men's tough and thick skin.
Avatar m tn From what I understand is that I should shower more because of my oily skin and hair, but if I do that the bumps get worse and so does the dryness of my scalp. I shower EVERY morning, so it is not a hygiene issue. I get the occasional pimple on my face due to my oily skin, but I have never had sever acne. We live in Wisconsin so we do have the heat running, but this issue occurs all year long. It just seems that no matter what I try there is more pain and itchiness!!
Avatar n tn This doesn't happen all the time but when it does it takes forever for them to go away. Now I am experiencing bumps underneath the skin on my face. It looks like a pimple but never comes up. When I try to squeeze it, there is a waxy substance that comes out. Please tell me how to get rid of these bumps.
Avatar f tn I am on the depo shot to keep my cycle regulated and I was also told that the added hormones could be contributing. I do have oily skin on my face but am very good about trying to keep it clean and dry. I have other health problems as well that I am unsure if its all linked to gether somehow. I wouldn't care much about the bumps(expecially in comparision to my other health issues), but it makes me very self concious to have them on my face where it is so visible.
Avatar m tn This lump no longer swells or fills with any fluid it just never has healed to feel like the skin on my right ear feels. 2. Avatar n tn From time to time, these may secrete a whitish oily substance (somewhat like a pimple). These are normal. In addition, the breast skin is not unlike other skin and is subject to a wide variety of skin abnormalities, most of which are benign. Nonetheless, if you are concerned, please see your doctor and have it evaluated. With respect to the half dollar sized lump under your arm, this could be many things.
Avatar f tn Folliculitis can be caused by scratching of the skin, breaking the skin surface making it vulnerable to infection, or glands that are very oily with the openings of the hair follicle blocked with sebum. Good washing and hygiene techniques usually work well to prevent the process. Let us know if you need any other information nad post us about how you are doing and what your doctor advises. Regards.
Avatar n tn Are these bumps reddish or skin colored? Do they contain pus? Do the bumps involve the hair follicles? Are they itchy? I suggest that your husband stop taking the deodorant if this has been causing the skin condition. The deodorant may be blocking the pores of the skin or he may be developing a reaction to some ingredients in the deodorant. Instead of a roll on deodorant you may opt to get him a deodorant spray instead.
Avatar n tn When I became pregnant my hair became extremely oily, I tried using shampoos for oily hair, but nothing helped. I used everything from the cheap brands to the more expensive salon brands. After I gave birth the problem still persists, my daughter is seventeen months old. I have very sensitive skin so I started using Johnson's Baby Shampoo. I have been using this for about 6-8 months. Now all of a sudden, I have little painful bumps on my head and my scalp burns.

Avatar f tn Hello, These white irritating bumps on scalp can be due to folliculitis and perifolliculitis skin. Perifolliculitis is characterized by small, very itchy pustules within the scalp, often most troublesome on the frontal hairline. The scalp should be washed with a mild normal shampoo as often as desired. Antidandruff shampoos containing antifungal agents such as ketoconazole or ciclopirox are sometimes helpful.

Avatar n tn I sometimes get those great big deep bumps that take forever to clear up, usually every other month, in which almost always seems to leave a small scar. What can I do ? I have pretty oily skin, so I don't use any oil products on my face at all, I don't wear foundation make-up at all. Any suggestions ? This discussion is related to Spider bite, probably.
Avatar n tn Hello, The doctor is right in saying that moisturizers should not be used if you have oily skin or having clogged pores.Reason being oily skin produces so much oil itself that if it not cleaned at regular intervals ,then it may attract dirt and grime and lead to clogging of pores or folliculitis.so I would advise that you cleanse your skin with a mild cleanser at regular intervals and use no moisturizers or minimal amount of non perfumed hypoallergenic moisturizers. Hope it helps.
Avatar n tn I changed my soup to a glycerin bar. Glycerin soup takes all the oily stuff off my skin. Allowing my skin to breath and to be able to take care of its self. Two years now no bleeding bumps at all. I was suprised the cure was so easy. Lather up like 3 times and get all that oily crap off your skin. Rub that glycerin soup on those bumps with a wash rag. Make those bumps bleed.
