Avatar n tn I have been a pediatric dental assistant for over 8 years. we sedate 3-4 patients a day in our office(between 3 doctors). We use two medications to sedate our little ones. Chloral Hydrate and Vistaril is what we use. Age 1 to 10 years old. These medications are concious sedation meds. They have a very high index of safety because it is done based on a range of weights. Making it hard to over sed. Unless you just don't go by the guidelines.
Avatar n tn Hi doctor. I want to ask you a question about clinic procedures. Because of my severe myopia, usually I make appointments to have my eyes dilated with a retina specialist. But I no longer see him because he moved. So I switched to another clinic. I specifically asked for an appointment with a retina specialist at this place but they sent me to a general opthamalogist. They said that I have to see a general opth first before I can see a retina specialist.
Avatar f tn Every doctor has his own opinion. Official guidelines are what that matter. As per official guidelines 3 months post exposure is when one get conclusive status of HIV. any prior negative results are encouraging but not conclusive.
Avatar n tn We honestly don't know if it all being in the tubby would be safer. Soap can only do so much as in kill what is on the skin surface. Of course being naked and covered in soap suds could be a hell of a lot of fun....he he he So what do you do? Well if you don't know your partner - then it's an implied risk in general don't you think? You either accept it and do what you can to keep it minimal or you don't engage in it.
Avatar m tn The gum clinic doctor i went to today (works in Leicester) (the one that wrote the british HIV Testing guidelines) told me that the subtype issue is only applicable to a viral load test? is he correct?
Avatar f tn But the one common theme was avoid as much of that sort of thing as possible, so I would say avoiding it in general may be wise

148588 tn?1465778809 The Government Accountability Office and rail safety advocates have questioned whether the Federal Railroad Administration is prepared for the inspections and approvals for PTC. Caltrain echoes those concerns. "I think they will be challenged from a resource point of view to get this done, and it seems likely that that is going to be a constraint on all of us," said Karen Antion, a consultant who is directing Caltrain's transition to the system.
Avatar f tn Hi a pain contract is an agreement with your pain management doctor that you will not get pain meds from anyone else or you will be kicked out of the doctors office. There are normally urine tests done and on pharmacy to be picked as well as some people must bring in their bottles for counting purposes any time you are asked. It is very different than having a general practitioner prescribe medications for a short period of time. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn After a month of the affair I took all std test at my doctors office and the day after I took a rna test(both this week, still waiting on the results).. How accurate will the test be after a month because I have really really bad anxiety going on and freaking out...
Avatar n tn The information I have is as follows and possibly PCI is contra-indicated and there are no guidelines by cardiac associations.. ______________________________________ My understanding treatment of patients suffering from atrial fibrillation pose problems when percutaneous coronary intervention with stent implantation is performed.
1470816 tn?1286731609 There has not been sufficient clinical experience to establish the safety of pyrantel pamoate in general during pregnancy. Animal studies show no evidence of harm to the fetus among rats or rabbits. According to The World Health Organization (WHO), pregnant women with pinworm infestation are considered to be a high-risk group.
Avatar n tn In general, yes. There were several studies done in rats that showed that this drug crosses placenta, but doesn't cause any harm to the embryo/fetus. In many ways rats are similar to us, humans-that is why scientists often use them as study subjects. But you definitely should discuss this with the doctor that prescribed you the drug. Only the doctor knows your complete history and can make the right decision about risks/benefits of the drug to you.
1330108 tn?1333677304 Often the packaging of these covers states that the product meets all federal car seat safety guidelines. However, there are no federal guidelines governing after-market car seat accessories. These extra car seat covers and buntings could interfere with the function of the car seat harness, and many car seat manufacturers will void your car seat warranty if after-market accessories are used.
Avatar f tn Usually hospitals offer tons of classes for new moms, labor and delivery and even classes for new dads! Call your hospital or go on their website and see if you can find anything (: as far as safety guidelines, I'm not sure of a website but as long as it's being sold in a store as a NEW product it had to pass the regulations otherwise that company would have a lot of legal issues on their hand lol.
Avatar f tn It's actually 39, guidelines changed about a year ago for ACOG and March of Dimes standards of care. 37-38 weeks is "early term" and 39-41 is "full term" and much safer. Your doctor must not be up to date on the latest research and safety recommendations. I'd wonder what else your ob hasn't learned...yikes.
Avatar n tn This could also be a sign that you have a urinary tract infection. You can be tested for this at your doctors office or you can purchase test strips at your local drug store. They usually have them at the pharmacy and no prescrition is required. If you do have a urinary tract infection, your doctor will prescribe a 3 day course of antibiotics. I would try drinking more water and cranberry juice and see if this helps. If not, see your doctor.
Avatar n tn Hopefully and almost sure you will be UND at wk 12 but as long as the viral load is under 1000 guidelines say continue on to week 24 at which time you must be UND. If not game over. Do you think your doctor is freaked out about the low platelets and doesn't feel you'll be able to continue? 19 is very low but I've seen people treat with 20's right through 48 weeks and platelets do bounce around.
Avatar n tn I am just now re-entering the dating world after a long term relationship. To be blunt, my goal is to hook up with women. Of course, I want to do this safely. My questions are: 1. Assuming intercourse will take place, what is the most effective way to prevent STDs? And, how effective is that exactly? Everything I read says something to the effect of: Having sex with a condom helps, but still puts you at a significant risk. I really have no idea what that means.
