Common Questions and Answers about Ocella the same as yasmin

Avatar f tn Well Ocella is the generic for Yasmin. I was taking Yasmin for 2 years, when last month I was given Ocella. Well I wasn;t too thrilled with it, as I had cramps for 5 days plus I started my period 1 day late. They say generic is always the same, but for me I felt a difference. It could be from the pill. Your body needs to adjust being on it. Side affects should lessen by the third month.
Avatar n tn I have PCOS and have been on Yasmin BCP for like 6 years to control my PCOS symptoms. The reproductive endocrinologist told me Yasmin is the gold standard for PCOS patients because the drospirenone works best in mitigating the symptoms of high testosterone like acne and hair growth. Well my gyn nurse practitioner called and I guess there is new evidence out that Yasmin is causing causes more blood clots than other BCPs, and this is a risk that increases as you get older.
Avatar f tn the pill at the first that you start taken it .... it do these things even you get your period twice in a month so no the pill if you are taken it at the same time and you dont miss it it works 100% but off course you have to start taken the pill from the first day that you get you period dont ever forget that if you dont taken it like that it WONT WORK !!!

Avatar f tn I am SO sorry to hear about this terrible family tragedy, and after seeing for myself some information on the issue of this drug ocella (generic for Yasmin), it appears there is a possibility the birth control brought your daughter down, particularly since that was the only thing she was doing differently when all this started. It's a scary thing that medicines can do this to people, I just wonder how well these things are tested and so forth.
Avatar f tn Dear community or any gynecologist as well Hi my name is sami &This is my first time on yasmin well one will my periods be much shorter on yasmin & i was 8 days into my period to of the normal 10 days i have my period for & so it's been almost 3 years since the last time i was on any birth control pills but back then i was on ortho tri cyclen lo but about up to 4 year's on ortho tri cyclen until my obgyn at the time had asked me that if wanted to try ortho tri cylen lo but t
Avatar f tn Gianvi is the same formulation as Yaz, execept in generics fillers are different. Ocella is supposed to be the same as Yasmine, but fillers are diferrent and I reacted differently on ocella. Yaz has 24 pils and Yasmine 21. Yaz is supposed to take care of the PMDD symtoms better. 10. My MIND is a lot cleared on YAZ but the side effects and physical effects are unhealthy and I have not been able to engage in excercise etc because of the symtoms.
Avatar f tn Two weeks after stopping it I had bleeding before my period and three weeks later I was pregnant. I had the same type of symptoms. Is yasmin the bc that was recalled? I would take a test. When is your next expected period? Wait until then to take it. Do you have small bumps on your nipples? That is a sign of pregnancy and it usual goes along with the sore nipples. Is always good to take a test. You don't want to take it too early though.
Avatar n tn The basic hormones are the same in both brands, but not the compounds that make up the pill. The FDA actually made them change their information to reflect the difference in ingredients. I guess I am just more sensitive to these particular pills. Between the issues I am having and all of the negative information out there about Yaz, I am just going to stop taking the pill all together. I have been on it for 15 years. I think my body could use a break!
Avatar n tn which was rather weird because its never happened before and its not like im adjusting to taking the pill as iv been on it for a while. is this normal?
Avatar f tn No they are not the same. Yasmin or Ocella is a lower dose of birth conrtol, while Yaz is prescribed more often to those who suffer from PMDD (Premenstrual dysphoric disorder). Yasmin is one of the best birth control pills out there for those who suffer with PCOS. I've been on it for 2 years, with a break of 6 months. I just started a new pill pack this month again. I too suffer from migraines, but the pill does not give me any.
Avatar f tn I am trully deceptioned. I am thinking on not taking Lybrel anymore, it's not reaching its purpose. I am miserable. The worse part of it is my doctor! When I told her about lybrel she gave me a perplexed look. Mind you, she's a gynecologist! I had to bring her a print out, and this was on my second appointment. In the beginning she prescribed ocella, I stoped because it was making me bleed. She told me that I shouldn't had stoped because it was my body adapting to the pill.
Avatar f tn It has been 3 months and everything was normal with the newer pill but i then went back to the chemist an got my normal one yasmin as it had the days written on it and i felt more comfortable with it knowing which day was which. I am just about to finish my first pack, in 3 days i should have my period.. fingers crossed.

Avatar f tn I have been on generic Yasmin birth control for 6 years. At the end of September I was switched from Syeda to Ocella. I was about two weeks late picking up my prescription. On October 5th I was sexually active and it was during the first week of my pill pack. I ended up starting my withdraw bleed during the third week of my active pills. It was light and spotty, only when I wiped. It lasted 10 days. About three days into the spotting I got sore breasts, which I have never gotten before.
Avatar f tn I saw my PC doctor on tuesday and asked just to be on yasmin for the next few months just b/c of the situation and so I started taking the generic ocella yesterday. I hope it straightens **** out. Anyway, what I want ot know is ,"Can your symptoms of your mentrual period worsen b/c you just detoxed off the stongest pain medicine there is?" I haven't had these those kind of painful cramps since before I started the bc pill when I was 16 and Im 29 now. Hope someone can help.
Avatar f tn It seems like since your body is already so out of balance with hormones, then when you put more hormones into your body it just throws your body off completely, hence why the change in mood. That is my thought on the matter, I could be wrong. But ya as much as anyone can tell me about yasmin, the better. good things, bad.. I wanna hear em guys!! THANKS!
Avatar f tn But now she stopped Aldactone and gave me Birth Control Pill ( Ocella, its generic of Yasmin). But How long can I take this BCP I am not sure. My period are always been so frequent since they started ( in the age of 13). Recently my doc took vaginal and abdominal ultrasound. She found that I have Poly cystic ovaries. But she told me that I don't have PCOS as my periods are very frequent. My doc took all the test. First they took my blood sample, and then gave me a injuction of Cortrosyn.
Avatar f tn I see that the one hormone is the same but the other ethinylestradiol in YAz is 0.02 and in Yasmin is 0.03. What does this mean and is it safe to give her?
Avatar m tn I just wanted to let you know that Yasmin is a very expensive birth control pill and they are not a very good form of it, due to problems Yasmin has encountered. As far as if you are safe I cannot say 100 % you are safe, but I can say that you are taking the right measures to prevent pregnancy ( other than abstinence ).
Avatar f tn In that 8 days you should get your period. On the 8th day you start the new pack of Yasmin. And every time the same. That's the process. When you want to end taking them for good you just stop taking them or consult a doctor if they are prescribed like some kind of therapy. Take care!
Avatar f tn It's very likely is that your body is just trying to adjust. I'm not sure about Yasmin in particular, but from what I've learned the average time for a body to regulate itself after coming of a BC pill is about 6 months. I came off the pill and haven't had a regular cycle since and it's been 2 years now. That's likely just that my natural cycles are irregular though... I hope your issues resolve soon!
Avatar f tn I was still worried so i took 2 Yasmin combination pill on day 5 and 2 Yasmin pills on day 6. I did not take the pill after that. Ever since I have had heart burn and stomach ache, belching and pain between the shoulders. I usually have a 30-32 day cycle. Today, I am day 17 of my cycle and been bleeding for 4 days now. MED HELP Doctors forum opined that it may be due to irregular use of Yasmin in high doses those 2 days.
Avatar n tn I'm at the age when I should not even have this problem, in fact I never did before, but lately I've been experiencing acne on my face. Anyone knows about good birth control pill as far as skin is concerned? I have tried many already, but they don't seem to work... thanks for any suggestions. I did went to dermatologist and don't want to be taking antibiotics for the reas of my life..
Avatar f tn Hi, I was diagnosed with endometriosis two years ago and have since been through two laparoscopies as well as a three month induced menopause. After the last laparoscopy the doctor told me that the endo. was gone and put me on the pill as a prevenative measure. However, the pill really exacerabated my migraines and made me quite depressed so I stopped taking it. Immediately after, the frequency of my migraines lessened but since, the frequency has increased greatly.
Avatar n tn i was having exactly the same problem until my doc put me on yasmin and metformin. it worked wonders. Try to exercise atleast 30min per day, it will be of great help. i took yasmin for nearly one year then stopped(my periods were regular while taking yasmin), got pregnant after 2months of stopping yasmin, but unfortunately it was ectopic and so i lost it. i would advice you to be careful once you stop yasmin. Also i was taking caltrate(vitaminD+calcium) tablets once a day.
Avatar f tn Yasmin should be taken everyday!!! In the way explained in and on the box!!! Dont skip one pill as they really leave you on the rocky side!!
