Avatar f tn Hi!!! I'm 20 years old and I had my baby two months ago and I'm not sure what birth control to use... I have thought of two but my husband doesn't want me to get them, one of the birth control that I thought of is the 1 that is like a "t" but my husband doesn't want me to get it because he says that its going to poke his penis when he wants to put it inside n also ppl have told me that hurts when they put it inside of u..
Avatar n tn I started Nuvaring September the 18th of this year and I did not have sex till October 1st but me and my partner didn't use a condom and he came inside me, do I have to use a contraception pill or will I be okay?
1580452 tn?1296439703 I've had absolutely horrible menstrual cramps for the past several years, to the point that my doctor prescribed percocet for me to take for every period (I can't take NSAIDs like Aleve, Motrin, etc.). I got a Mirena IUD to see if that would help (it didn't, but I still have the IUD) and have been using Nuvaring for almost two months.
Avatar n tn Your doctor will tell which day of your menstrual cycle to insert the first vaginal ring you use. During the first 7 days of using your first vaginal ring, you may need to use back-up birth control, such as condoms or a spermicide. Follow your doctor's instructions. The NuvaRing should be left in place for 3 full weeks. Remove the ring after 3 weeks, on the same day of the week it was inserted at about the same time of day. Allow 1 full week to pass before inserting the new ring.
Avatar f tn Hello, It can be due to friction rub or chafing with the nuva ring or due to allergic reaction to the Nuvaring or the vaginal lubricant if you are using any. Use a water based lubricant like KY jelly or indulge in plenty of foreplay so that there are less chances of an allergic reaction. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar n tn Many people have experienced pains and light bleeding while having intercourse and using nuvaring. It seems to affect everyone differently, but it's very likely the nuvaring is the source of your problems. I would suggest trying a different form of birth control, as this one is obviously not for you.

Avatar m tn i started Nuvaring 3 weeks ago yesterday when i was supposed to ive had sex w/o protection quite a few times since. I was supposed to start my period yesterday Im NEVER late early if anything I took a pregnancy test last night and it came back negative. Is it possible that I am pregnant and that its just not showing up positive yet?
Avatar n tn About 5 months after starting to use Nuvaring, things began to change between us. We still love each other very much but he gets a weird feeling like he isn't supposed to be with me. I have been looking into something called Major Histocompatibility Complex or MHC. I think that it is possible that the Nuvaring has altered it. Is there anyway to know if this is the answer to our problems?
889551 tn?1416184483 Hard to say. If you DO choose to use the NuvaRing though, just remember to use additional protection for as long as it specifies to. Usually it's a month you need to use protection while it become effective.
Avatar f tn LEGALLY your mother can't force you to get the shot. IT can make you gain weight, I put 50+ lbs on with it. Personally I'd suggest the Nuvaring if it's an option. I spent 3 months on it and LOVED It! The reason is Nuvaring is low dose, you won't normally put weight on with it, and it's easier than a pill and you don't have to remember it every day the same time.
Avatar m tn t been on the birth control since i took it out on 11/16/10 last night 12/8/10 I went to use the bathroom when I looked down their was brownish looking blood in my panties not when i wipe myself its only been 14 days since my last period my friend said I could be pregnant.
Avatar f tn It is possible, yes. With NuvaRing, you need to use condoms for a month for it to be fully effective. However, you are definitely playing with fire. It makes no difference if you ovulate a few days later, as sperm last 5 days on average in the female body and 7 in perfect conditions. While calenders are helpful, they are by no means exact. It's safer to assume there is no safe time. You need to wait 2 weeks and take a pregnancy test with first morning urine.
Avatar f tn I was thinking the same thing that my body is trying to get use to not being on the NuvaRing. I have not taken a test yet. I was trying to wait it out to see if my cycle comes on by the end of the month.
Avatar f tn So I use nuvaring. My periods are always on schedule according to when I insert the ring, and when I take it out. Well, it's been out for 5 days and I haven't gotten my period. I bought a pregnancy test and it was inconclusive. I bought two more and plan on using them tomorrow morning. My main concern though is that I have bipolar disorder and I am on a TON of strong medication for my illness.
Avatar f tn Ok, but if I failed to use a back up method should I consider emergency contraception?
Avatar f tn your never ever suppose to do that, the hormones will only work for a months use, so you probably will get pregnant!!!!! go to the doctor, get tested!!
Avatar f tn I just started the Nuvaring 3 weeks ago. I'll be taking out my first one tomorrow and inserting a new one right away. I think I've used it correctly so far. I inserted it on the first day of my period, and even waited an additional 7 days just to be sure it had kicked in before having sex without another form of protection. Since starting, I've had alot of nausea, diarrhea, dark brown discharge, some cramping, and extreme mood changes.
Avatar f tn Toward the end of July I took out my Nuvaring and discontinued my use of it because of all the side affects that I have recently become aware of. I am not on any other type of BC at the moment but for the last week or more my nipples have been EXTREMELY sore..so sore that a touch makes me cringe and back away immediately. After removing the Nuvaring, I got my period from July 29th-Aug 1 so I am due to get it again in about a week.
