I'm a ftm and never really heard of wic but now that I'm pregnant... Anyways I'm planning to get wic today. Anyone here has can give me idea what to bring? What should I expect? How does it work? Hmmm I wanna know what else I need to know hehe.
Wic helps you get the nutrition you need by offering you cereal, milk, eggs beans bread, oatmeal, rice, fruit, vegetables, peanut butter, tuna fish, and other stuff for pregnant women. With your infant baby, they have plans you can choose from depending on if you want to breastfeed or not. They offer a breast pump for breading moms. They give formula, baby food, baby cereal, and other things depending on dr orders.
First WIC appointment or follow up?? I have a follow up on the 10th but I may have to reschedule because I wont have a way there and it's a distance away and in a ****** part of town, and I dont feel like being hooted and hollered at 32weeks pregnant while walking.
I have my first appointment at a WIC office tomorrow. I have never been involved with WIc and I don't know anyone else who has. What should I expect? My mom was adamant that I apply but to be honest I'm not sure what WIC is.
Do you know what it is? What do they do? Will I get everything I need tomorrow or is this a process?
Signed up for wic today and got my vouchers today!! So I spoke with a nutritionist and she told me I am gaining too much weight at one time..she kept asking if I was sure I was 14 weeks..I'm like yesssss.. So she told me to try to spread my weight out..as in not gain so much at one time..smh I was 116 now I am 130..and I am 14 weeks... Is that drastic?? I don't even see the weight on me..
One thing about WIC, they are not doctors. I don't even mention what WIC says to my doctor or my kids pediatrician because they are only nutritionist & don't know everything. I've been there a few times when they tried to tell me my breastfeeding baby was having a rash due to an allergic reaction because of the dairy foods I ate.

Does anyone know roughly how long breastfeeding classes take? My WIC office signed me up for them starting next month, but they are at 1130a and I have to be in class by 1230p which I live roughly a half hour to 45 mins from school.

Wic, food stamps, tanf there's even housing for young moms. I was 17 when I had my first born. Because I had a baby it automatically emancipated me and I qualified for food stamps. I got 365 a month in food stamps. Tan is cash assistance.

The WIC nutritionist should have given you tips. Continue taking your prenatal vitamins (the gummies don't have iron). When you eat iron rich foods (meats, Nuts, beans) pair it with something high in Vitamin C (oranges, kiwi, strawberry, mango, Papya, cabbage broccoli, peppers....ect). It'll help increase the absorption of iron. You can also take your prenatal with orange juice. Don't drink too much milk because it can decrease the iron (they use the same pathways to be absorbed).
You can be on Wic while you're pregnant. Im on Wic....well WAS on Wic lol but I know its gonna be hard for the parents who get the formula from Wic because formula at stores are so expensive! Last time this happened it look like 22 days for them to make the decision, I hope that doesnt happen again.

You need to go to your clinic and ask about applying for wic and everything. My friend is approved and her and her fiance plan on getting married. They just don't have good jobs atm and a very small place. Certain situations get first priority in the system but if you make an apointment they can help you out with all the paperwork right there.
I would start looking for jobs even if you don't get one right away you'll have options , and you could start looking into WIC I'm about to sign up myself
So me and my husband both had good jobs, He got lay off and a week later we found out we're expecting. I had really horrible morning sickness that I had to quit because I'm a massage therapists. We apply for Ahcccs and we only got 190 dollars month of food stamps. And its not enough because I live with my parents and since they are letting us live here for free and my mom takes care of my sisters kids they mostly eat the food I buy for me.
So I just need to get something out at how frustrated I am that people wont give me a job just cause I'm pregnant...its illegal and wrong. And then people talk **** because im on wic.
I'm 17 weeks and haveing a lot of touble gaining wait and I can out eat my bf and his stepdad and there both ex military and I've always had trouble gaining wait but never this bad, any advice on what to try to gain wait, I'm already seeing a nutritionist through wic, and 2nd my pulse is racing tonight faster than normal, I don't know why but my whole body is shaking.
