Avatar f tn My son had trouble with toilet training in a similar way. He would sit on the toilet for an hour and not be able to "go". This problem worsened during the school year, both because he did not like to use the school bathrooms, and because if he had to go at an "inappropriate" time, the teachers would not allow it, insisting that the 20 minute recess and the 40 minute lunch break were adequate opportunities. This contributed to a severe constipation problem.
Avatar f tn It seems to go beyond normal, the part of feigning to be sick to get you to do what she wants. My brother is in his sixties now and still hardly eats anything, and my parents let him get away with it because he had a tremendous temper and it was just easier that way. Kids figure out what they can get away with. But as her way of getting what she wants is getting out of your control, it might be time to pursue some counseling whether professionally or in-family.
Avatar f tn you want to choose 10 exercises to workout with for the workout and keep the reps around 12-15. As for diet, i am not a nutritionist but something you can do is make healthier substitutes for things like cookies. you could just try any diet while you are on this exercise program and will lose around one pound a week. also, instead of drinking juice, have an actual fruit, it will provide you with fiber and will make you feel more full. DON'T DRINK SODA or eat any empty calories.
447130 tn?1225470866 I did get hungry at night and sometimes had a snack but I hired a personal trainer and have been working 4 days a week for a straight hour of cardio style weight lifting (my heart rate maintains at 165 the whole hour) plus I have to do an hour of cardio everyday on top of the training. I have done this for 6 weeks now and have lost 2 pounds. I have lost quite a few inches but no real weight.
Avatar f tn Rowing is a tough one because it's both resistance training and aerobic training. Protein heavy eating is best for the muscle recovery and development, and carbs are great for the quick energy needed for aerobics. But you're also 16, which means you have to be careful about the training -- your body is still developing. But the thing is, at 16 most people are hungry all the time, especially boys.
Avatar n tn The best course of action is to find a nurse-practioner who specializes in diabetes. These nurses are really good at what they do and will spend the time with you necessary to properly control your glucose levels. Physicians don't have the time to spend on such training. Usually they will set you up with a nutritionist to help with your diet.
Avatar m tn This was my first ever experience of weight training exercises and on the first day I tried almost everything I could, on my own, since no instructor was present that day. It was alright until I did a round of "Sit Ups" when I experienced a sudden sharp pain somewhere between my neck and right shoulder. I didn't go to gym on the next day. I applied some "wintergreen oil" balm and the pain subsided. I continued from the third day.
Avatar n tn The milkshake idea is good. I think in general, increasing the amount of fat and protein in your diet (preferably unsaturated fat and lean protein), portion size, and carbohydrates, you will easily put on weight/bulk up. Unless you have some kind of underlying thyroid issue, I don't see why milkshakes and a larger diet wouldn't help you out.

Avatar n tn Hello FlJenn We are volunteers with a lot of experience in Type 1 diabetes. We're not medical professionals, so it's really important that you discuss specifics with your doc so s/he can work out a plan tailored to your needs. When we 'bottom out,' the fact is that we have a mismatch between the insulin on board and the insulin we need.

Avatar f tn Since then, I have been to two endocrinologists, a dermatologist, a nutritionist, and have had two or three thyroid panels. Thyroid problems run in my family, but I have never had positive panels. I have been going to the gym since April five times a week for an hour and a half. Some days are cardio, some are weight training, and most days are mixed about half and half. Always keeping my hear rate between 169 and 182. I pretty much only drink water or tea. I rarely drink soda or sugary drinks.
Avatar f tn So, for the past 3 and a half months I have been doing strength training three days a week and cardio kick-boxing twice a week for a total of 5 days a week, each for an hour. I eat healthy - no junk, no fast food, and lots of water. Only problem is my weight is exactly the same as it was on day one. What the heck?! It is SO discouraging to not see that number going down. What am I doing wrong?!?!?!?!
Avatar f tn Im training as a nutritionist and would rather take that than tablets as they can constipate you badly.
