Use all fat dairy products and no low fat foods so he has the calories he needs. Remember to relax at meals and just give him the foods he wants.

I love to eat plain boiled potatoes with sour cream or potatoe salad with a little bit of olive oil, lemon juice, salt and crushed garlic.

There are a lot of other lists available on the internet - just do a search for "low glycemic foods". Most vegetables "qualify" as low glycemic, except things like white potatoes, etc.
Avatar m tn As for potassium, I recommend you increase potassium daily in your diet. Eat orange juice, bananas, milk, fruits, and potatoes. There are potential dangers of self-dosing with potassium supplementation. I do not know your medical history and recommend you speak with your MD about potassium supplements if you are concerned with your levels.
Avatar f tn Fresh vegetables are great, and frozen are fine. All offer a lot of nutrition, and raw and cooked vegetables should be the mainstay of your diet. I think it's fine to use dressing, but just consider the amount of dressing you use if you want to lose weight. The first week you may not feel good, but then you will start picking up. New habits are hard to make, but worthwhile. Start a walking program and get out in the sunshine. You can feel better.
Avatar n tn Hello human corn flakes will not hurt your horse if the amount is with in limits how ever the balance of the cornflakes nutrition value which is designed for small human stomaches will not be high enough to give your horse the full nutrient values he needs and will only offer small amount of fibre as the flake is cooked and will be digested fairly quickly i hope the flakes are being fed with chaff or some hard fibre content which every horse needs to keep a healthy gut and i hope the feed if bei
Avatar f tn Eat controlled amounts of carbs like small amounts of potatoes, but try even to change potatoes often to root vegetables with more nutrition, such as parsnips, beets, turnips. Instead of rice, which has little nutrition, try making quinoa. Whatever food you tend to binge on is probably a food your body turns straight to fat. Change is good. Colorful foods are good. Absolutely no soda, especially not diet. When you crave sweet, don't use artificial sweetners; try agave nectar.
Avatar n tn love potatoes, and have heard of that book. Always good info, especially the part about eating carbs after the protein, helps the digestion process greatly! If you notice, say, you eat a steak and a baked potato together, do you get intestinal problems? I always do and its because you should eat protein and carbs seperately.
1752720 tn?1322231098 Suddenly all I can think about today are potatoes. Scalloped potatoes. Potatoes au gratin. Pommes Anna. I want them ALL! Is anyone else craving anything odd?
1123156 tn?1338863369 My 7mos old gets a huge mess of the runs...with any foods that have a smooth consistency. I'm worried for him.
973741 tn?1342342773 Whoa, loaded question! Is it loaded with vegi's or baked potatoes? There are so many ways to go about nutrition. What do you think is the best way to eat healthfully and manage your weight and health goals? Paleo? Low Carb? Mediterranean? Vegan? Dash? All in or in moderation? Intermittent fasting? Supplements? It is overwhelming to really dig deep so it helps me to hear what works for others.
Avatar f tn The only connection that I can see is the fact that eating an unusual amount of French fries is that this would be a good example of a VERY UNHEALTHY diet. Considering the amount of FAT and SALT I would think that a person would be a better candidate for Heart Disease than Breast Cancer. IF and that's a HUGE IF ... this were even close to being true, why blame French fries ?? OR we better stop eating potatoes AND fried foods all together !!!!
Avatar m tn I was going to mention B-12 Defeciency but it looks like you have this covered. I never tested for this but I suspect I have the same. It's one of the vitamins I add to my daily intake of vitamins.
969163 tn?1281105479 I feed my ten year old husky/chow mix canned pedigree twice a day, with an antiacid. I was wondering whether dogs are able to eat mashed potatoes or cherrios. I don't want do give her something that might upset her stomach, or make her sick. She has cancer and has lost a lot of weight, now that it is getting much colder, I need to bulk her up. But of course money is low and I need to find more alternatives. My idea was to mix the mashed potatoes with the canned pedigree, is this ok??
Avatar f tn Try those fancy baby string beans you can get in the freezer case, or grilled asparagus with a spray of vinegar and sprinkle of salt. If you really, really cannot eat one veggie (not even salads? are you sure?) go for the dark-colored fruits, like blueberries and cherries.
Avatar f tn Yes, we are guilty of eating bologna, hotdogs, mac n cheese, potatoes and cornbread. How can you eat healthy on a very small budget? I have thought about drinking those cans of like generic ensure for diabetics. walmart has them 12 for $7. So that would be 6 cans a day...then we would just have dinner. I really need help!
Avatar n tn Why are you posting and not your father? Can you explain "precautions"? Do you mean prevent his diabetes from progressing? If yes we need to know what he is doing to control and manage his diabetes - foods he eats, exercise program, blood sugar levels and when he tests? "the good diet plan for them...." Changing lifestyle habits can go a long way in controlling type 2 diabetes. India leads the world in diabetes. This is mainly due to poor diet/nutrition.
Avatar m tn Carbs should be few and only use healthy ones such as potatoes, legumes, foods with nutrition instead of cake and cookies with no value. The less pressure on your spine the better, and it will make the surgery and recovery better also. Do it right, not an unhealthy crash diet. Walk for exercise as recommended and as you are able. If surgery is not recommended, get another opinion, but back surgery should only be done when certain criteria are met.
Avatar m tn It appears that yams have a lower Glycemic Load than sweet potatoes, and sweet potatoes have much lower Glycemic Load than white potatoes. That’s good news, I prefer yams and sweet potatoes to white potatoes. Also, supposedly the way in which a potato is cooked affects the Glycemic Load. A baked potato has almost twice the Glycemic Load of a boiled potato. Regarding pasta, it looks like this is a case where the “browns” are better than the “whites”.
Avatar m tn It has no nutrition value and they taste like mud.
649848 tn?1534633700 Med Help has just launched a new Nutrition Application, which will help make it easier to find the nutritional value/calories of the foods you are eating - this should make it easier to keep up with the food tracker; it looks like you can link right to your food diary and exercise/weight trackers. There's an area where you can "ask an expert", as well as a lot of other valuable information.
172023 tn?1334672284 These fiber filled and nutrient packed vegetables are picked at their peak of freshness, and flash frozen to maintain most of their nutrition. They keep a long time in the freezer, unlike the fresh veggies that I know many of us have rotting in our produce keeper in the fridge. Add them to soups and stews, cook and chop up and add to lasanga. 2. Canned Salmon. ---Canned salmon is lower in mercury levels than its canned friend, tuna.
