Get to know the cafeteria and when you enter go to the salad bar, so you won't go by the dessert table. limit yourself to one dinner plate at meals. Use the USDA MyPlate graphic as a guide. Fill half your plate with fruits and vegetables, a quarter with whole grains and a quarter with lean protein.

Avatar n tn I snooped around some more and found a nutrition data dot com that had the information. But the serving sizes are not consistent. At least at USDA you can choose your serving size. Anyway: 1 leaf of green leaf lettuce has 8.2 mcg of Vit K 1 cup of radicchio has 102 mcg of Vit K. Trying to guess how much green leaf it takes to make a cup, hmm, looks like they're both pretty close in terms of Vit. K.

Avatar f tn A couple of websites you should check out are thedailyplate.com and calorieking.com You can look up the food values of just about ANY food..just type it in the search box. I just looked up an egg white for you and it says an average large egg white with no fat added is about 17 calories. I also buy liquid egg whites in the containers. I don't eat the yolks either so I find that by buying egg whites in a container, it's less wasteful.

While it's true that a well-balanced diet should give you the nutrition you need, there is data to support the use of supplements in some situations. First, I generally recommend against Vitamin C, Vitamin A, and Vitamin E supplements. I don't think the data supports their use, and as Jaquta suggests, there could be some risks, particularly with A and E. Some supplements that do appear to be beneficial include Vitamin D, Calcium, and Fish Oil.

I simply did not feel like eating, so I listened to my body and I did not eat...I drank water, I did everything else right. As our counselor said...I am no doctor. Vitamins are very hard on your stomach...especially coming off methadone because you lack proper gut function. Nutrition is of equal importance.
