The right side of my tongue is numb. I feel some tingling and burning sensation at the tip of my tongue and bottom also. My tongue on the right side feels very sensitive to hot or spicy food. I also had pain running down my chin to the ear until 2 weeks ago if I had to do lot of speaking continuously. Now that pain seems to be better. But the tongue is still numb. The dentist has asked me to wait and take some B complex vitamins. Anyone who has recovered from this problem?
Later, I noticed that the tip of tongue was numb. I thought it would resolve itself but 4 days later, but 4 days later it remains numb (just the tip). Also, I recently started taking liquid vitamins and monavie red. Blood pressure is under control with intake of lisinopril. If the cause was from eating hot food, how long will the symptoms persist. It does not hurt, just numb. Any thoughts?

I just had a partial thyroidectomy (Right lobe romoved due to a nodule that they needed to biopsy) on April 16th.Ever since my surgery my left side of my tongue has been numb. I have been getting hot flashes and lightheadedness/dizzyness. I was wondering if this is normal or not. I called my Dr. and the nurse said that this has nothing to do with the surgery. It feels like I have cotton in my throat and I feel like I am choaking. It is worse when I lay down.
For all of you out there searching the web for answers..... I had my wisdom teeth removed 3 years ago. About 3 days after the surgery I knew something wasn't right. My entire mouth was dead numb. I couldn't talk right or chew food without my tongue getting in the way.
Welcome to the Forum. I’ll try to address your concerns. The symptoms you describe do not suggest oral herpes to me. While oral HSV can cause sores within the mouth, there are typically sores on the lips and outside of the mouth at the same time as well. In addition, initial HSV would typically last longer than five days.
Posted a question with no replies on 12/22/14 in this community that two fingers on my right hand are cold and painful and blue. Went to a young cardio MD recently and he did an EKG and echocardiogram and pronounce me healthy and suggested more exercise (would be impossible for me to get more---athletic and walk miles every day), a glass of soy milk every day, a glass or red wine every day, oatmeal---raw or cooked every day, and a baby aspirin every day.

I have a numb tongue tip with a burning throat which comes and goes. My tastebuds at the tip of my tongue are inflamed and give this numb feeling which is made worse by antibacterial mouthwash such as Listerine. Looking closely there seems to be tiny white dots which to my untrained eye and web research resemble tiny hpv warts or the start of them.
2 days giving birth.. woke up in the middle night with skin burning, tongue numb.. well I went home the next day and I had skin burning, fast heart rate, numb tongue, numbness in hands and feet etc. Well after a coulple weeks it went away and had burning legs for a couple months. A year later I started taking dizzy spells every night in the middle of the night when getting up . my head and neck would get so tight that I couldn't catch my breath, my tongue would go numb.

No, I'm not any of the mentioned. I've checked my meds on Web MD for interactions also. Just a little confused but thank you.
It has been there for about four days now, and it is very painful to the touch. I read on Web MD and it said it could be a canker sore. About two days after I noticed the white spot I found a sort of pimple like lump on the left side of my tongue. I read on some forum someone else had the same thing happen when they had a canker sore, and they said it went away in a few days.

Have lingual nerve damage and right side of tongue is numb, burning/tingling...day 13 here...got given Tergretol today. Dentist said could help with burning but have to get levels right, have blood test, keep going in to be monitored re: levels and it has some nasty side effects,,,suicidal ideation and being sleepy which is out of the question with me at work. I don't sleep we'll but will get sleep tabs if need be over these side effects. So is it worth it taking this ?
In januar 2014 a had a contact with a male. after two days my groin lymph nodes got tender. As well as an ulcer on my tongue that resolved in a week. I am pretty confident i somehow woke up the bacteria, since i am so scared of life and eveything that i rarely get into sexual situation.. I trusted this guy whom i let to touch and kiss me. And we did oral.
In last half a year i've done tests 3-4 times...but i am still perplexed. All the time VDRL/RPR and 19S-FTA ABS IgM are negative.
I have otherwise been ok but very very stressed. I have been using mouthwash but that seems to increase the numb feeling at the tip of my tongue.
The doctor at the STD clinic looked at my mouth and I told him the story, he seemed to think could be thrush or stress possibly herpes but didn't think so( A diagnosis which concurred with my own doctor who urged I visit the STD clinic)
I am worried it could be an oral infection of either Chla or Gon or Herpes.
Poss ON in R eye more test tomorrow, a couple of days after eye pain R side of tongue numb and deviating to the R when I stuck out my tongue. Lasted about 9-10 days. Some difficultly moving food around in my mouth. Googled it sounds like it could be related to MS. After test tomorrow I am going to put a call into Neuro. Out of town when all this happened so could not go see MD.
