Avatar f tn I am 42 years old, 5' 5, and 205 lbs. I wear size 12/14. 3 years ago I quit my office job after 16 years. I was about 185-190 lbs at that time. I then lost about 10-15 lbs in 1 1/2 months by eating better and drinking more water and using the treadmill (run/walk) 5 (+/-) time a week for about an hour or so (4-5 miles). Just because. I came back to my office job 1 year ago (where a lot of women who like to eat work as well). I was 175 lbs when I came back. Now I weigh 205...
Avatar f tn I quit drinking soda and other drinks and now only drink water, fat free milk, and an occasional gatorade. I eat less then I use too with minimal snacks. I have not lost any weight in a month. WHat am I doing wrong?
Avatar n tn As far as exercise, get some weights and do some weight training, or do some push-ups. Cardio is not necessary for losing weight. In fact, I believe that running too much can be bad for you. That's a whole other topic of conversation. Stick to high-intensity workouts for shorter periods & you'll be healthier. Also, remember that it's not what you do at the gym that makes you look/feel great, it's what you do at home in the kitchen that counts.
Avatar f tn It is possible to lose 3 pounds/week, but that's a bit ambitious. The recommended weight loss is 1-2 pounds/week to be safe. If you can give us a bit more information, maybe we can help you get started. If you implement food and exercise habits that you can stick with, you will be much more likely to keep the weight off.
Avatar f tn HI, Weight gain can cause havoc with hormones and hence losing weight will be a big help. After which you should consider a systematic treatment with clomid and other medicines like gonadotropins for induction. This may need to be combined with IUI for faster results. Consult an infertility expert for an evaluation. Hope this helps. Take care and good luck.

Avatar f tn I gained weight without changing my eating pattern with hypothyroidism. All my labs were in range too. Just not my normal! The weight increase was notably when TSH was in the mid 3's. So low thyroid was one cause of weight gain. The other cause was insulin resistance (my insulin was very high 24/7). Ways to improve insulin sensitivity include no processed sugar, low carb, intermittent fasting, exercise to name a few things.
Dog Hi! Weight gain and loss can be very difficult to explain or understand. It certainly sounds like your calorie intake is less than your calorie outgo--meaning that you should be in negative balance. It may be that your body has entered starvation mode since your calorie restriction is so severe. In starvation mode, your body hangs on to every bit of weight possible. It is also possible that you haven't waited long enough.
Avatar n tn (people are saying maybe the weights are gaining muscle) I lose about 400 calories on the Skiing machine machine (to work both arms and lose weight), it says in about 35 minutes. sometimes I lose 500 in 42 minutes. Why am I not losing any weight? In fact I gained 3 lbs. Do I need to cut out weights completely? Do I need to go to the gym 5 days a week and do more cardio? I ate very few carbs for many years. I have just now started eating a few because evreyone says I should.
Avatar f tn 22 pounds in seven weeks it now a easy task. gaining weight after some weeks are weight loss medication is quite normal so please follow the same, if you leave this method in half way then it may lead to dangerous effects. however consult with your doctor about this.
Avatar n tn Well first let me say im no expert here ...but i see a few things. 1. you're doing wieght training so you're likely adding muscle while burning fat..muscle weighs more than fat so i would suggest you ignore the scale for a bit. 2. you might try doing weigth training only 2 or 3 days a week to stay toned and add a bit to the cardio.. 3.you may not be eating enough ..
Avatar f tn HI, PCOS women often have weight issues and also it is difficult to lose weight. Losing weight will help to a great extent and hormone levels can get moderated. Drugs like metformin may also help with weight loss. PCOS women may sometimes require induction of ovulation which will increase the chances of a pregnancy. Hope this helps. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations. You are requested to consult your Doctor.
1286518 tn?1271857815 I do about 30 minutes of cardio and circuit train in the weight room. I started out using P90x as a boot camp but am doing my own thing now. I live in FL so lately I have been swimming for 20-30 minutes about 2-3 times a week for the cardio, other times I run around 2-3 miles, or eliptical for 30 minutes, or run 1 mile at 85%. Every other week I switch from heavy weight training with smaller sets (8 reps) to lighter weights (12-24 reps).
Avatar f tn Trying to lose weight can be very frustrating especially if you are not seeing results (believe me....I feel your frustration). Have you tried tracking your calories in the food diary so that you can keep track of everything that you eat? If weight watchers (a very low calorie eating plan) worked in the past, chances are, you are currently eating too many calories and need to cut back on the calories and increase your exercise. As much as I hate to hear it and say it.....
Avatar f tn Oh!
470885 tn?1326329037 I would say it's normal to not have much change at this stage. As for losing weight that can be attributed to a lot of things including your walking, one other thing may be that the closer you get to labor the lower the amniotic fluid level gets. I was having biweekly nst/afi's with my oldest son and there was a significant drop in the level of AF several days before I went into labor.
Avatar f tn Make sure you do strength training exercises, as those build muscle (you won't bulk up) and muscle is what burns fat.
4202320 tn?1366272200 Just to clarify - muscle isn't really "heavier" than fat...A pound is a pound, no matter what it's made of.... muscle is denser so a pound of muscle takes up less room than a pound of fat. Compare muscle with a rock and fat, with feathers........ You can have a relatively small rock that weighs a pound because its molecules are packed so densely, but think how big that pound of feathers is going to be because of all the "fluff".
Avatar f tn Yes it's normal to lose weight while pregnant. I lost weight the first trimester and my doctor didn't worry as long as baby is growing. Just eat healthy and stay active! !
Avatar f tn It just feels so far away. I do go in for a thyroid check soon (not for the weight loss). I asked around and my family said it might be from being overweight in the first place (which i wasn't with my son). On a better note I'm pretty sure I felt full blown movement last night :) I am very excited!!
Avatar f tn So sorry to hear you're unwell. You will have good and bad days, as long as you take advantage of the good days (eating well), you should be fine. Try eating dry things like toast/crackers...take small sips of water/juice to keep hydrated. Ensure you do not dehydrate as this is not good for you and baby. If you think something isn't right, you need to get in touch with your doctor so that other methods can be employed.
Avatar f tn Guess it's just oyr bodies hard at work. Weight is back to norm. Dr.
