Common Questions and Answers about Normal weight vs height table

Avatar n tn a little over two years ago, after numerous cold turkey quits on vicodin- i started taking oxycontin... i am a 37 y.o. male and my normal weight is 260 to 285... after about 8 months of being dependent on oxycontin my weight shot up to 360... at that point i quit cold turkey(which completely sucked and won't do again). needless to say quitting cold turkey did help with weight loss... i was clean for 4-1/2 to 5 months and in that time i dropped sixty pounds, (without dieting or even trying).
Avatar n tn I have digenerative disc disease and my neirologist just prescribed topamax, he said it would help with the pain and tingling but could result in weight loss. I am wondering if prescribing topamax for ddd is common among neurologists? I can't seem to find any other information related to topamax as a pain med, only information I have is that it's a powerful drug with lots of side effects, most not so good. The weight loss aspect is the only plus...
Avatar n tn i wanted to ask you guys because you have had so much success with this... what happens when you get into the normal weight range again? does the doctor take you off of the meds or can you lose a little more weight as long as you stay in the normal range?

Avatar n tn What's your present weight/height? (not that I'm suggesting you increase your height, though that's a thought) Do you know your present body fat percentage? Waistlines are an excellent guide (clothing snugness, belt settings etc.).
1475492 tn?1332887767 I wasn't asked my weight either. I was asked my height. That's it. It was the thoracic that caused the heating. He told me I would not notice it with the brain which is true, I didn't. It was just in my core. It wasn't uncomfortable and I wonder if most people would notice. I just happened to have been cold (breeze from the fans) and noticed I felt flushed rather quickly. I have been nearly symptoms free (comparitively to before) so an increase in symptoms is a red flag now.
Avatar m tn age 51, bp 124/82, resting heart rate 58, height 5'6 weight 148, bmi is 16 not 24 like the table says because high muscle mass vs little fat. no diabetes in family. dr told me 30 mins brisk walking per day i laugh because i do hard workout for 1.5 hrs. not 3 hrs like when i was competeing but 30 mins walking is nothing to me.
Avatar f tn and they had the little finger poke test strips sitting there in the office and never needed that done. Nurse looks at my weight and height, checks her BMI chart and says, 'OH YOU're goood.' So, I was happy about that at least, to not have another problem to deal with. Anyway, dointime, keep in touch! I have normal cholesterol, normal triglycerides. My waist size is within normal limits. This is based on my doctor's assessment, mind you. My thyroid is normal. My blood pressure is normal (in fact on the low side). So, why is it that so many on here are questioning my statement that I am not IR???

Avatar f tn It affects a number of things. As far as weight loss, I am also trying to loose weight as I am 35 years old, 135 pounds and 5'1. I should be about 110 pounds but because I've had more than two kids, most of my weight sticks in the thighs and belly. I do stay active because I take my kids back and forth to daycare, doctor, etc. Currently I am looking to see if there is a pill I can take even by perscription that will help with the weight loss.

Avatar n tn Fast forward to today 1/31, only 6 weeks since surgery. Doc had me put my leg off the edge of the table then proceeded to push down on it little by little until I was literally crying. I'm a 39 year old big guy that doesn't cry. I'm really concerned that this guy is too agressive and he is going to rerupture it. I'm a 350lb guy and I really don't want to have to go this surgery again. Should I start looking for another doc?
Avatar n tn but I immediately went out and walked for half an hr lol and ofcourse came and had to go to the bathroom. Next day weight loss was normal! So weird! P.s. LOVE this blog so informative I had a question though if we did take a break the way Simeons prescribed it and then restarted the diet would I again have to do 23 days of the phase 2 protocol or just the remaining from the previous cycle? As in when would I be able to go to phase 3 after resumption?
Avatar m tn Of Osteopath for some manipulations and see if you can get relief from that please disclose all info to them and with your size look for one who is about equal to you in height and weight. Most people have never heard of D.O.'s only chiropractors who are really dangerous! A M.D. or Doctor of osteopath has all the skill if not more than chiropractor and they're legit M.D.s but they believe more in- less is more and a more holistic approach to medicine.
Avatar m tn I hadn't thought about that so much but if I am already mutated does that risk still carry as much weight? So it's normal to taper TDF with INTF if you want to stop? Because thats certainly not something the doctors said...
Avatar n tn I don't want to od, but I can't deal with this anxiety. I'm not a large person either. I'm normal weight for my height so should'nt the ativan be helping?? I also know that ativan is addicting so I don't want that to be an issue if I take me. I can't see my doc until Monday which I'll get another script for vicodin when I go. I really want to take more vicodin, but I can't or I'll run out befor Monday.
Avatar n tn I feel your pain. I'm now on week 8(6wks non weight bearing and 4 more partial weight bearing). I see my MD on 2 wks but I'm not getting my hopes up.When I began to whine about it all, he told me if I was any heavier( I'm about 120#) I'd be looking at 6more weeks non-weight bearing. That shut me up. the thing that worrys me is the chance for necrosis is this particular bone. I'm trying to be good, but.....well you know. I also have a tooth pick leg. And getting a thick waist Hang in there.
Avatar m tn During the first treatment, you will see. After several treatments, your sinuses will resume their normal function, and you will be able to breathe freely through your nose. MAKING YOUR OWN SALINE SOLUTION WARNING: Do not use tap water, unless it has been boiled first. There is a rare microbe that can get in your brain from some water systems.
147426 tn?1317269232 I'll keep looking, but even my MS Neuro, whom I consider very smart, felt that MS was ruled out by normal MRI's. I need to understand whether the 5% got diagnosed because they presented so classically - maybe with Optic Neuritis, more than one clear attack, a very positive LP, and a tatoo on their forehead that says, "I have MS!
Avatar n tn I know the feeling. I am 51 and have recently lost about 25 pounds, but have consisently exercised and taken buku supplements. I have noticed my tricep skin puckering at different angles as well as my thighs. You feel like "this is the thanks I get for watching my weight and taking so many supplements that my stomach is screaming!" Forgive me, but at least on a forum, I can be a "crybaby" rather than put up the good front that I do throughout my real day.

Avatar f tn ------------------------------------ No, in general, you are not off base, however there are a number of things to factor in such as your genotype, prior tx history if any, the amount of liver damage you have, your race, weight, height, age, doses of riba and peg, pre-tx hemoglobin and hemoglobin response during tx, etc. You might want to include some of all of this in your profile.
