Avatar f tn NIH guideline is based on your prepreg BMI. If your BMI was normal prepreg then 25-35 lbs. If it was underweight then up to 40. If overweight15-25. If obese 11-20. Your doc will definitely let you know if you're gaining too much. In general if your BMI was normal try to stay in the high normal/low overweight range if possible for your height or it could be difficult to lose it post preg. I think what you eat is most important though.

But i see contradicitng theories about bone fusion and height growth in the interent. my height is 168 cms and my wife's heightis 158 cms. ECF - if you just have a bit of a tummy but your weight is normal for your height you shuldn't be dieting but focus on cutting out reducing sweet stuff including fizzy drinks and maybe paying attention to how much white flour based food you're eating and reduce that as it's not good for you anyway and can make your middle look a bit swollen. that includes pasta unless it's wholemeal.

I gained 85lb pounds with 30 days to go and the doctor's love to tell me I have gained excessive weight I'm above the "normal range".. I believe every woman is different so I can't be based off any other woman.. Just a thought any ideas?

(I know I'm personally 5'2 and pre-pregnancy I was 147 and was overweight) If you were a normal healthy weight before pregnancy, you would gain 25-35 pounds. Overweight you would gain 15-20 pounds. Underweight would be 35-40 pounds. You should NOT however skip meals.

Avatar f tn It calculates your body mass index based on your starting weight and height and plots your current weight on a chart which shows what the healthy range is for your body. I find it useful because I don't have to do the math myself. I check it about once every 1 or 2 weeks. It's right on target with what my doctor told me to gain so I trust it. Just keep in mind that your weight gain is not necessarily linear either.

Avatar f tn I'd recommend that you start a food diary -- med help has a great one -- that will calculate how many calories you need/day to maintain your current weight, based on your current height/weight/exercise level. Then you will have to create a calorie deficit - by either eating less or exercising more (it's usually easier to do both) in order to lose weight. It's generally accepted that it's safe to lose 1-2 pounds/week.

Unfortunately, doctors can be real jerks, sometimes. I had a doctor who did the same thing to me....... he told me I only need to "MOVE MORE", when I had a very physically demanding job, plus went to Curves 3 days/week and walked every day on the days I didn't go to Curves.

She eats 4 meals a day plus 3-4 snacks, she also gets 13-18 oz of pediasure a day. She is very active and does not eat many proteins. I offer them but all she likes is peanut butter (my pediatrician OK'd this) and turkey bacon.
