222234 tn?1216343635 my daughter was born 8lbs and 2oz. the doctor said that shes above average with her weight and height . he said that for a whole year. noone else believed that he said that. she looked very normal. if anything, she needed to gain weight everyone thought. she was just tall. now, i have a three year old who is lean and tall like shes always been. i didnt care what the pediatrican said about her weight. i fed her what i believed she needed. she turned out perfect and fine.
172023 tn?1334675884 Doctors typically define overweight as a body mass index (BMI) of between 25 and 30 and obesity as a BMI of 30 and above. BMI is based on weight and height; for example, a 5-foot-6-inch tall woman weighing between 115 and 154 pounds would have a BMI in the normal range. But children born to overweight or obese moms face a rise in risk for preterm birth or being larger than normal at delivery, with extra fat, Catalano noted.
596218 tn?1219742538 If you have been going to this doctor, why have they not said anything about her weight and height to you before? A child’s weight and height are monitored from birth. As long as a child is steadily growing, no matter how slow, they are fine. Some children are genetically small so they may fall below the growth charts. If the child is not growing then, they normally suspect a medical condition or in some cases abuse stopping growth so numerous tests need to be done.
Avatar n tn One of the reasons I went on this medication for my aniexty was my weight, and now my weight issues have come back. I do however, feel so much better mentally. I told myself last year, during the hardest time of my life, that I didn't care how fat I got, just as long as I was mentally sound. But of course now I am upset about my weight. I do want to go off the medication, but reading what others have posted I am wondering what is the most healthy choice.
688845 tn?1325185836 You have me on FB (or here, but these MH galleries can be confusing to flip through) so if you want, msg me and I'll link you to my album from my pregnancy with Grey and you can see how massively huge my belly was near the end (my fundal height was off the charts) and he turned out normal...with Kahlan my fundal height was always behind (I think I was 34wks on my fundal height when I delivered with her at 40wks) but she turned out 7lbs 6 oz and 19.5 inches so not small at all, lol.
Avatar n tn with the pregnancy and can not lose the weight. I have been a member of weight watchers for 7 years, and know how to eat right. I've faithfully counted pts., and have exercised, but the scaled won't budge.
285896 tn?1237214827 I'm 5 foot 4 inches, and his Daddy is 6 foot, so I don't know why he's so short! He's below the 1st percentile for both weight and height. I fret and worry about his growth constantly, because he simply does NOT grow like the other kids, but the doctors all say he's fine. They keep telling me he'll surprise me with a growth spurt, but they've been telling me that for 2 years!
171768 tn?1324233699 He is chunking up nicely now and apart form being a little picky with food choices is the height, weight and has the same diet as most other 5 year olds.
6710217 tn?1386114492 Your question was referring to what a baby's 2 month check up at their pediatrician entails. They get vaccines, check for normal growth of brain, length/height, weight. The usual stuff. They'll ask if you're currently breastfeeding, formula feeding, supplementing and bottle feeding. How well your baby sleeps at night, if they're co-sleeping or in their own crib. They'll just wanna know the simple stuff.
Avatar n tn New parents (like me) have so many questions and can't always get our pediatricians to respond them. My daughter is 4 months old. She is normal weight and height, but her sleeping habits seem a bit odd in comparison to my friends children. My daughter doesn't awaken until 9AM most days and then will remain awake until 10PM. She is happy and active, but will not take a nap during the day. I've tried rocking her for an hour in the afternoon, hoping she'll fall asleep.
Avatar n tn It sounds like your baby is sleeping a little under 12 hours per night. You also indicate that she is happy and alert and normal for her weight and height. Every baby, and person as we grow, establishes their own unique sleep pattern. As long as your infant is healthy and happy and has a productive night sleep which supports her growth there is no need for concern. One final important note is that there is increasing information that the best position to sleep an infant if on their back.
377493 tn?1356505749 It's really hard to believe that this healthy strong little guy was only 4lbs 14oz and had to stay in NICU for 5 days after his birth. He is so chubby, smiley and happy and I just love every second of being his mommy. Every day is something new and exciting.
748543 tn?1463449675 For the past few weeks I have been throwing around ideas as to the best way to respond to this matter. You see a recent article ( Feb.3 , 2009 NY times) titled "Best treatment for TMJ May be Nothing" nearly made me clench my jaw to pieces. While well written, I found that the author, Ms. Brody, relied heavily on out dated and narrow perspective supplied to her by a small group of dentists.
Avatar n tn I was on for 2 years and gained 15 pounds (but of course, I didn't care since I was on a drug) Now, I've been off for SIX MONTHS and I can not lose the weight. I know I ate more and drank (like a fish) more on Lexapro, but I also kept going to the gym. I am hoping that it re-calibrates, but I'm 48 years old, so I'm worried. I feel like a dumpy old lady. Right now, I'm taking 5HTP for depression, and it's not as powerful as a drug but it does work. And it helps with food cravings.
1528695 tn?1360585920 We just had our shower and most of the diapers and big boxes of newborn and size 1. Wondering if i should take them back for other sizes.

280369 tn?1316705641 LoL Anyway, I'd bet Jeremiah's in the top/99th percentile for height and weight, but i wouldn't be too concerned. They go thru a period from around 2-3 when they gain very little, so it'll all balance out.
280369 tn?1316705641 Elijah is 56% for weight, 92.4% for height, and 36.7% for weight to length. So he's just above average for weight, definitely above average for height, and below average for his weight to other babies of his height. I look at those numbers and don't worry at all, he eats healthy, doesn't snack on anything bad, drinks water, milk and once in a while juice...he's just fine.
Avatar f tn Two222, 30 pounds for a 6 month old is a bit on the large side. My daughter is a year old and weighs 26 pounds and she is in the 97th percentile for weight and at 30 inches she is in the 95 percentile for height. 30 pounds at 6 months is ridiculously above average. I just didn't want this woman to think that her 8 month old grandchild should be anywhere near 30 pounds. I will pray for you.
Avatar n tn i am going to try to exercise from tmrw... and stick with it... i weight 190lbs and my height is 5ft4' my ideal weight would be 140... i really need to lose this weight... Gosh i really need to get into it... i will keep you all posted.... good luck all...
Avatar n tn She did have weight to lose before getting pregnant but she is big. I am 7 weeks now and normal weight and except for a beer gut I don't think I even look pregnant. I guess this is normal? Everyone is different?
325477 tn?1250554909 its on the pelvic bone and for me its on the right side. Also sometimes the pain travels to my right buttocks and thighs. OB said it must be the Sciatic nerve. It might get better over time or might get worse too. Yes I haven't experienced BH till now, or may be I did and didn't know about about it. What exactly is the feeling? I do not have any experience with midwife. My grand mom used to be a midwife in her days. I heard that its a routing to do a ultrasound in 34th week.
921323 tn?1268679412 If we had done the same for cholesterol medications or diabetes medications, or even smoking patches and pills, we’d be paying for it in countless ways. So is there something unique about developing medications for obesity? Obesity is considered by many to be purely a “lifestyle” disease, and some are biased against the obese as a result.
Avatar n tn My son passed the newborn screening and I had the carrier test and it was negative. He is about 25% for weight and 39 % for height. He started out at about 50% for weight and height but has been at steady growth on 25% since 10 mos old. He does have issues with dairy so he doesnt get any so I always thought that was why is is on the smaller side. He has never had an issue with being sick even have Influenza A with no complications.
Avatar n tn She is a big baby, 98th percentile height and weight, breastfeed and just started solids, I (the mom) am on synthroid 25 mcg. Because of my thyroid condition and her weight gaining her thryroid has been tested and it came back normal (when she was 6 months old). I am really concerned that this is serious. Will the hair just fall off eventually or she will need special treatment and screenings? I made an appointment with her pediatrician, but I would like to educate myself first.
Avatar n tn Some long-term studies indicate that children prenatally exposed to heroin suffer from below-average weight and length, adjustment problems, and psycholinguistic and other ability deficits through six years of age (and, in Olofsson et al. [1983] through age 10) (Deren 1986; Olofsson et al. 1983; Wilson et al. 1979). Studies of prenatal methadone exposure report some association with initial developmental deficits.

325477 tn?1250554909 I have to wait 6 months b/c of the molar pregnancy....5 months left and counting. Good luck to you and I'm sorry for your loss.
Avatar n tn He is 16 lbs 12 oz (98 percentile for weight and 73% for height) When he is awake, he does not seem lethargic and is smiling, cooing, and seems to be meeting milestones. Should I take a stronger course of action and get a 2nd opinion or wait the month for the results. Also, his newborn screen was a bit off in the thyroid area. Usually just a Free T4 is drawn, but if it comes back higher greater than 90% of normal then a TSH is drawn.
