Avatar n tn The normal range of testosterone in males is 300 -1,000 ng/dL and in females it is 15 - 70 ng/dL.The normal ranges vary among laboratories. Few labs may use different measurements or test different specimens. It is best to talk to your doctor about the interpretation of test results. Write to me again with more queries. Best wishes and regards!

Avatar n tn Testosterone is very important for females as well as males. Testosterone also converts into estrogen. All three primacy sex hormones all interact with one another and having them in the proper balance at the proper time is very important and complex. Do you have any menstrual cycle irregularities? Can you also tell us your diet and the level of exercise you do? Are you an "extreme" athlete of any sort?
Avatar f tn Levels in the high normal ranges could be too high for you or levels in the low normal ranges could be too low. If you have the exact levels and reference ranges, we'd be happy to take a look at them.
Avatar n tn It's about 90 days I think, that the male dog would still be able to sire pups after neutering. I think it is something to do with residual sperm (though how they live that long is, to me, a mystery) I know a male dog who was neutered about 5 years ago. He is still capable of mating fully, though of course he would not now be fertile. But he can certainly do it! So it seems there is still some testosterone in his system, even though he's 'firing blanks'!
1139187 tn?1355706647 Hi, As per the present knowledge, Tinnitus is caused by some problems with the Auditory nerve connecting the inner ear to the brain, and the sounds are locally generated/appear to be generated, and it is not related to the level of testosterone. Also if testosterone were the reason, all females should have got it. Here is a reference for you: http://www.lycos.com/info/tinnitus--brain.
Avatar n tn It is pretty common in Mediterranean cultures for females to have more hair than females of other cultures. On some days, I can deal with the fact that I have Hirsutism, on other days, I feel really depressed and alone. A few weeks ago I gathered the courage to go to my PCP and tell him about my condition. He automatically sent me to the lab for blood work. He said the tests would be extensive. Yesterday I went to his office and he reviewed the results carefully. Luckily, I do not have PCOS.
Avatar m tn For example genes that encode for proinflammatory T cell and Ig superfamily proteins is higher in males than females. Males have higher expression of heat protein shock genes, suggesting that cellular stress us elevated in males. Investigation of the unique cellular pathways and candidate genes that cause differential in bacterial infections between males and females continues, and may one day lead to a new class of antibiotics.
Avatar n tn Excess hair on face in females is usually due to excess of male hormones called androgens and this is called hirsutism. Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is the most common cause of hirsutism. Adrenal gland problems like adrenal tumors, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, Addison’s disease or Cushing’s syndrome also result in excess hair. At times the hair follicles are very sensitive to androgens in blood. This results in excess hair.
Avatar m tn Because the testicles are left intact during vasectomy, the animalwill still have plenty of testosterone in its body. He will still be inclined towards showing unfavourable male-animal behaviours (roaming, aggression, dominance, territory marking, mounting and copulating with females etc.) and he will still be prone to developing a range of testosterone-mediated health problems. Author's note: vasectomy is not instantaneous.
1139187 tn?1355706647 Apparently, you didn't read the whole thing...... females produce testosterone, as well.... our goal is produce much less than men do, because we don't need to be "big strong, bad people" (lol) but we still need it, or you're going to be "without". "With men, the issue of concern is testosterone deficiency, while with women the concern is excess testosterone production. A total testosterone may be ordered prior to or along with a SHBG test.
Avatar n tn He had his labs drawn testosterone, glucose, thyroid, etc., and all of his labs were normal. He has been with many females and states he feels good about himself. He works out all the time eats normal and is a handsome young man.
Avatar f tn There is no purpose for the male nipple. They have them because they have estrogen as well as testosterone in their body. Nipples are actually the result of the female hormone in there body. Which is normal. Of course.
1346723 tn?1300718741 FSH stands for Follicle Stimulating Hormone and LH stands for Luteinizing Hormone....in females they work together to trigger ovulation. Right before ovulation you should get an LH surge (this is what is detected on ovulation kits). They are probably testing your blood for levels of these hormones to see if they can figure out why you aren't having periods....most likely you aren't ovulating. If this is the case they should be able to give you meds to help prompt ovulation.
689860 tn?1238718032 I found out today mt testosterone was 216. HOLY COW ! I had asled my doctor before the results if cialis will help in getting an erection again and she said let's get blood work. What are my options now? I don't want my marriage to suffer.
Avatar m tn The testosterone values were extremely low (5.9 nmol/L) but all the other ones were normal. By the way, I had a very delayed puberty - started at 18! Also,a CT scan of my pituitary was performed. The results indicated that I have a simetric but abnormally small pituitary gland. Not sure what that means but, currently I'm only being treated as primary hypogonadism with Testosterone Replacement Therapy.

Avatar f tn Other than that there is an increase in LH (leutinizing hormone), total testosterone and free testosterone and maybe an increase in prolactin levels and decrease in estrogen levels. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar m tn I also think all my blood test where TSH came back normal were in the later part of the day. Not sure when my 0.42 blood test was taken. But I was in the hospital because my symptoms were so bad at that time. When I first got to the hospital, they gave me a shot of dexamethasone. I got ridiculously cold for about two hours. Then I actually started to feel pretty decent. Until the next morning when it was really bad again. Doing a google search, looks like dex supresses TSH.
Avatar n tn You already have a normal testosterone level by each of the ways that we measure this. Ther is no place for giving you testostetrone any more than there is to give you insulin with your blood sugar being normal. You need to further discuss the fatigue issue with your physician. You mentioned depression and that can certainly cause you fatigue. Your question about aromatase inhibitors is one to address to an endocrinlogist (try a forum). S.A.Liroff, M.D.
Avatar n tn The normal testosterone levels in males vary between 260 -1080 ng/dl/ 8.8 - 36.7 nmol/l. Though these may slightly lower with age, the average values remain more or less the same. Hope this information is helpful. Take care!
737515 tn?1252552423 I know that all men suffer a decrease in testosterone starting in their 30's, but again that isn't connected to a reaction that starts only when you go on an antidepressant. Having low testosterone, a disease state, is probably not very common overall, but yeah, we do get lower as we age. But for all I now it's more of a nitric oxide problem, which is much more responsible for performance than testosterone is.
5274485 tn?1385860167 Some states take developmental disorders in BOTH girls and boys very seriously. I am thankful to live in one of those states. Despite this I do have to say that my daughter is the only girl her age at the clinic where she receives therapy and the only one in her autism class at school in Kindergarten. There is absolutely something to be said about girls needing more dxs.
