Avatar f tn More about egg quality, egg quantity and fertility problems Day 3 estradiol testing A blood estradiol level on day 3 (we do it on any day between days 2 and 4) of the menstrual cycle is a way to potentially discover some of those women with a normal day 3 FSH that may in fact have decreased egg quantity and quality. What we want on day three is a low FSH level in conjunction with a low estradiol level.
Avatar f tn Because of their extreme intraindividual variability, FSH and estradiol levels are imperfect diagnostic indicators of perimenopause in menstruating women. However, a low FSH in the early follicular phase (days 2–5) of the menstrual cycle is inconsistent with a diagnosis of perimenopause.
Avatar f tn Taken in conjunction with the FSH level, a higher level of E2 on day 3 may be masking the true FSH level. So, if FSH is in the normal range, and E2 is high, the FSH may actually be higher than the number given. My dr said that E2 isn't indicative of anything taken on it's own (unless one is on fertility medications), but must be considered in light of FSH. What was your wife's FSH level?
Avatar n tn My primary care doctor believes in checking hormone levels as a matter of routine. That is, she checked my hormone levels merely as a part of my annual pyshical. All serum levels in my basic chemistry panel, CBC plus differential, thyroid panel, and urine analysis were normal except my estradiol. It was 84 with a lab range with an upper limit of 54. My testosterone was normal at 630 and my DHEA was normal at 265. I am thin and I have no masses on the testicles that can be felt.
1281181 tn?1271688273 Hello, I recommend testing for both Ferritin and Vitamin D Hydroxy 25; deficiencies in both of these can cause hair loss and are common in people w/ Hashi's.
Avatar n tn t see any measurable follies until day 7 or so of that cycle. Ended up with one egg that cycle and estradiol level of 250 something. That was a bust cycle. This cycle (only my second one on Follistim) he started me at 150iu a night and BOY did I respond. I have one bad tube so we were only looking at what the good side was doing anyway :) But my estradiol never went down - in either case. They don't seem to be stimming you well at all.
1081864 tn?1257519948 Another good medication is Spironolactone--this must be used with the birth control pill (it can cause birth defects) and works by blocking the action of testosterone. This combination of medications will get rid of most of your symptoms ( irregular periods, hair growth, acne, ovarian cysts). But obviously are not going to help you get pregnant if you are going for a girl! You might want to see a good endocrinologist in addition to your gynecologist. Good luck!
Avatar f tn ve had estrogen checked again but this time it was taken at the end of my cycle cans back as normal 466 so doctors are not worried anymore and no longer want a ct scan.
216278 tn?1308861082 Hi! Just wondering if anyone has had progesterone levels monitored from day of ovulation??? I am almost 37 years old and doing a hormonal profile this month (b/w every other day, basically!!) I had Estradiol draws pre-o, and now Estradiol and Progesterone draws post-o! On Peak +3, my Estradiol was 70 (went from 104 to 323 to 70) and my progesterone was 5.8. It is only 3DPO, but I am trying to get an idea of whether it's a 'good' number or not - Any help will be appreciated!!!!
Avatar f tn I'm 35 almost 36. The past two years I've been having extreme fatigue, irregular periods, thinning and brittle hair, irritability, and some other symptoms most recently weight gain and hot flashes. I've been to ku endocrinology and had several test done. Low cortisol levels and just below normal T4 levels. I was told I'm not low enough for any meds because I'm only a tenth of a point below normal. HELP PLEASE!
Avatar f tn Peri is a time of a lot of fluctuation in cycles, even for those who have had periods like clockwork in the past. I started to have my first period irregularities in my mid-late 40's, probably around age 45 or so. Were you never regular? If you are still having that level of estradiol it may indeed be too early for HRT. Are you having any other symptoms other than irregular periods?
1386249 tn?1303092096 I need some feedback on my hormone levels since this hormone testing is new to me. I haven't heard from my OB, but this is what my Progesterone and Estradiol levels are according to my family doc: tell me what you think ON CD10 taken February 24 Progesterone level is 0.7 Estradiol level is 1.71 What this means...I have absolutely no clue. I tried reading on it, and it seems as if I should not have tested on CD10. I should have tested on CD 3....is this correct?
Avatar f tn My doctor had my FSH, LH, progesterone, and estradiol levels tested twice. Here are my results: FSH first test: 6.2 second test: 6.8 LH first test: normal apparently, but I didn't see what exactly it was second test: 7.9 Estradiol first test: not sure, but normal apparently second test: 52 I'm a little concerned about the estradiol. A few sources I've checked online have said that an estradiol level of above 50 can mask a high FSH. Is this true?
Avatar n tn Here is a website of what hormones levels should be at certain times of your cycle. http://www.fertilityplus.org/faq/hormonelevels.html For your thyroid you should have FreeT4 and FreeT3 tested instead of totals. Are you having any symptoms of low estrogen i.e. hot flashes, sleep disturbances, moodiness, hair loss, etc.? My reproductive endo says I am low in estrogen (I am 32) so I am contemplating some sort of hormone replacement therapy (Vivelle-dot and prometrium).
Avatar m tn There are some hereditary conditions in which males have elevated estradiol levels. Also some endocrine syndromes. MOST of the time, the excess estrogen is produced in excess adipose tissue. Usually estrogen is converted into testosterone, but in some cases, this fails to happen. This is the type of case in which something like Aromasin might help.
Avatar f tn Can you check these levels yourself or is this something you have to go in and have a doctor do? Only curious because I've been considering going in to seek professional advice too. I'm 29, TTC for 6 months and no signs of ovulation or baby at all. Never been on BC, had a miscarriage or an abortion. I'm curious what my estradiol and FsH levels are. Best wishes to you, sprinkling baby dust your way!
Avatar f tn Hi, everybody. I've been experiencing hot flashes, hair loss, irregular periods, and dry eyes for several months. I had my hormone and thyroid levels tested twice, and, while everything technically came back normal, my estradiol (52 pg/ml) level concerns me. I've read that anything below the 50 pg/ml mark is not a good sign. Is this true? Does this number suggest that I'm in the early stages of premature ovarian failure, or are there other causes of low estradiol?
Avatar n tn Does this mean it could be caused from ovarian cancer or are my labs just out of whack because of estradiol dose being too high??
Avatar f tn Is there something that could be done for low estrogen levels for women my age (pregnancy bearing) Perhaps I should be seeing a endocrinologist. I am so confused.
Avatar n tn If less than 60 years old and taking tamoxifen or toremifene, the blood levels of FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) and estradiol should be in the post-menopausal range. So for your case, you should have your blood levels for FSH and estradiol tested. If the levels are low enough, you could be considered as post-menopausal.
Avatar n tn i have been reading and i believe that estrogen plays a very important role in conceiving! am i wrong? do levels get higher throughout your cycle? has anyone had troubles conceiving with low levels? . can someone take estrogen supplements? we've been ttc for over three years and i have had the fertily workup done back then and there is no blockage in my tubes, or anything.
126702 tn?1240888250 4 pg/ml Sometimes the diseased thyroid gland will start producing very high levels of T3 but still produce normal levels of T4. Therefore measurement of both hormones provides an even more accurate evaluation of thyroid function.
