Avatar n tn If your insulin was a lot higher than normal but your blood glucose was in the normal range, it means that your pancreas is having to produce large amounts of insulin to keep your blood sugar down. So, yes, your are insulin resistant, even though you are technically not a diabetic. Insulin resistance suggests that you are developing Type 2 diabetes, even though your blood sugar levels are within the normal range. The experts are not sure what causes insuli reistance.
Avatar f tn I had to go to the emergency room again last month and again, they did blood work. My glucose level was only 88. I am just wondering if I should be looking into this. Could I be diabetic? They never said anything about the high level. I found out when I went to pick up my medical records from the hospital. Also, both visits were in the morning so I hadn't eaten anything since the night before. Thanks for any help you can give me.
Avatar f tn How much does the prednisone raise or lower the glucose level? Sometimes I feel lightheaded and my glucose reading is low, like around 65, and sometimes I am shaky and the reading is high, around 215. How do I know where my "normal" is and when I should be concerned? Diabetes runs in my family - my brother and mother have it. I am so confused and can not get a straight answer from my doctors. Help me to understand this please.
Avatar n tn The real health of the individual is whether the body produces enough insulin to lower a number that goes slightly above normal or whether the blood glucose stays high.
Avatar f tn I have a fasting blood glucose level of 101 and 102 for several years now and have been taking diovan hct and excedrin. I know these drugs have the ability to raise blood sugar readings. Should I be concerned about these readings? If I get off these drugs will my levels return to normal?
910435 tn?1296748610 People with this type tend to rise in the morning with higher than normal blood glucose levels, and after eating may have a drop in blood glucose levels. I call it a reverse spin cycle [no pun intended]. A lot of doctors have not been made aware or just do not know how to treat LADA. Frequent testing before meals and after meals to see how foods affect your blood glucose is a must. Bad carbs and starches are bad guys so pay strict attention to the intake. Do you have a home glucose meter?
1276121 tn?1420860600 Well as some of you know i had my first appointment 7/27 and by ultrasound i measured 5w2d. Today my lab work came back and my hcg was 28,059, is that normal? Also did a glucose and they wanted that to be between 90-130 and mine came back at 131 so they want me to do the 3 hour. I hope all goes well tuesday when i do the 3 hour.
Avatar m tn What can be the normal glucose level after 3-4 hours lunch or dinner time.(mine is lower after 4 hours) If i make daily activity is it normal to have lower values? If i make exercise , can this lower my glucose level. I learned that during exercise insulin is generated and that can lower my gluce level rapidly. Now i bougt a glucose meter, maybe it is better to make my own test at home while i am sitting.
Avatar n tn ve been having troubles lately before I knew my blood sugar was high, after I would eat I would feel very bad, not knowing I had high blood sugar I was leading a normal diet, even some fast food here and there, I'm sure my blood sugar has been very very high until I started dieting now. Are those numbers normal or should I be worried?
Avatar n tn In the event that you had an arbitrary blood glucose test, an ordinary outcome relies upon when you last ate. More often than not, the blood glucose level will be underneath 125 mg/dL (6.
Avatar m tn If so, that appears to be normal. The likes of cardio level aerobic exercise will cause the release of glucose by the liver and for some people that causes a temporary rise in glucose levels. Also, I wasn't aware of this. Look at the 3rd paragraph on the right that begins with the word Atheletes. http://tinyurl.
Avatar n tn Just got results from annual bloodwork. Glucose level was 270 and this was a fasting blood test. They told me it was high- How bad is it? My dr. was suspicious because I have lost weight and have a few other symptoms. So I am glad they tested, but do not have a follow up appt for another month. Any info is appreciated.
Avatar n tn thanks for that but does not answer question about whether the level will increase or decrease from random(non fasting).
Avatar f tn A 1% change in an A1c result reflects a change of about 30 mg/dL in average blood glucose. For instance, an A1c of 6% corresponds to an average glucose of 135 mg/dL, while an A1c of 9% corresponds to an average glucose of 240 mg/dL. With this information in mind your husbands A1c of 11% indicates an average glucose of 300 mg/dl which is extremely high and can result in damage to several organs in the human body.
468796 tn?1220029445 My doctor ran a two hour glucose test and while my blood sugar numbers were normal (as was yours - glucose of 80 is excellent! Fasting glucose is normal if under 100) my insulin level was 151!!! Ideally fasting insulin should be no higher than 10, but my doctor considers anything under 20 good. Anyway, having high insulin circulating in your body is the first step towards Type 2 diabetes.
Avatar f tn I am sure the doctor will get back to you, but you really have to make sure and show this to your child's doctor. I have learned that the blood sugars he is having are not normal and he needs to be seen tomorrow. He needs the follow up testing asap and needs an A1C test. This shows the average blood sugar over the last few months. It showed my daughter to have a glucose intolerance. Good Luck. Becky This is on the american diabetes association website.
Avatar m tn Hi. So, the exact number for everyone as to fasting glucose level and what they'd see after 3 hours after eating is unique. There is a 'range' of normal. Normal for fasting glucose level range is around 72 to 99 and up to 140 two hours after eating. https://www.medicinenet.com/normal_blood_sugar_levels_in_adults_with_diabetes/article.htm You sound within normal to me. Have you been concerned for any reason? Did you recently get this lab work done? Tell us more!
Avatar f tn Those are encouraging numbers but they seem high compared to what I've been reading. I've been recently diagnosed and am confused about the proper ranges as well. My understanding is is fasting pre meal should be 100mg/dl or below and under 140mg/dl 2 hours after beginning a meal. Today I experimented and had a breakfast with fried potatoes and an English muffin with marmalade slathered on. 2 hours later my level was 179mg/dl.
