Avatar n tn Being a diabetic person should not have any effect on your ability to get pregnant, but it is very important to have those glucose levels under extremely good control while pregnant. Most doctors seem to nowadays want their patients to have extremely good a1c test numbers even before getting pregnant. And to keep those numbers great during the entire pregnancy.
Avatar m tn He is basing his theories on what blood sugar levels are in young children, pregnant women and traveling glucose monitor salesmen, and the ADA according to him is basing it on the number of lawsuits resulting in deaths from hypoglycemia. Where is the actual science though? The meter salesmen all had readings of exactly 83 except one who was 66 and admitted to being a bit low? Can this even be taken seriously?

8485484 tn?1408936473 t a fatal condition if monitored properly. In a woman suffering from high blood glucose levels, the baby produces more insulin to control the increased sugar levels. • This could significantly lead to low sugar levels in the baby, since the body would become accustomed to producing excessive insulin. • A test showing glucose levels during pregnancy can be a sure shot way of monitoring the sugar levels. A low blood sugar level chart will help in diagnosing the condition immediately.
Avatar f tn This was after my previous tests with OBGYN (fasting glucose, fasting insulin, and 2 hr glucose looking at glucose only) all came back normal. He said my case was very borderline but women with insulin resistance have a high rate of mc. He put me on metformin, which has shown to reduce the mc rate of women with insulin resistance from 60-80% to less than 10%. btw, I was really surprised to find out I am insulin resistant bc I am not overweight, exercise regularly, and eat a very healthy diet.
Avatar f tn I have had Juenile diabetes for about 13 years now and lead as I would describe a normal life. It was difficult at first to regulate my glucose and other effects but evenutally I was able to control the disease- my glucose levels, eating on time and medicine intake. However, I was diagnosed with hypertension recently and on medication for it. As I got older, my symptoms changed as well, whether it was signs of low or high gluscose, energy levels etc. I plan on discussing this with my doctor.

Avatar n tn have you tested your glucose levels when these symptoms hit you? You may find that your glucose levels have dropped too low, for these are some of the symptoms of low blood sugar. Many people do mention tingling in hands when glucose levels drop too low. I would heartily recommend that the next time this happens, you do an immediate glucose test, and then perhaps test again about 45 minutes later.
415867 tn?1323365503 I think they are affiliated in that when your glucose levels are high you are susceptible to insulin resistance which is why many women who have PCOS are at risk of getting diabetes. It is the insulin resistance that I think has an affect on the other hormone levels.
Avatar n tn I have recently stared fertility testing and my fasting glucose level was 96. My doctor said it needs to be below 90. All the information I have read said that anything below 110 is normal . I am now on a diabetic diet for gestational diabetes. Why is it important to be 90 or below before getting pregnant? Could this cause infertility? Since I've been on the diet my fasting glucose ranges from 91 to 97.
Avatar n tn As other causes such as stress ,exercises and a recent meal intake may cause increase levels of glucose in the urine. This may be true in isolated cases. An initial work up may be necessary just to check blood glucose levels. Your BUN and Creatinine levels may also be checked to get a baseline evaluation of renal function.
Avatar n tn A number of studies have shown that menstruation can be restored in many women with PCOS. Avatar n tn The main thing for you to focus on is testing often and trying to keep your sugar levels as normal as possible all throughout the pregnancy. Most doctors want pregnant type 1 diabetic women to keep their glucose levels as low as possible without risking hypoglycemia. And the way to do this is to test more often than usual and adjust often. More insulin if levels go high, juice if levels drop low. If you test often, you can catch both problems and normalize them.
1209036 tn?1299178657 The oral glucose tolerance test involves quickly drinking a sweetened liquid (called Glucola), which contains 50 g of glucose. The body absorbs this glucose rapidly, causing blood glucose levels to rise within 30 to 60 minutes. A blood sample will be taken from a vein in your arm about 60 minutes after drinking the solution. The blood test measures how the glucose solution was metabolized (processed by the body).
Avatar n tn I am a very tightly controlled diabetic, and because I keep my baseline glucose levels low, I often have slight drops in glucose or mild hypoglycemia. Sometimes when this happens, I have the same symptoms you describe. Like you, my heart has been checked out by a cardiologist and is healthy. This, in my case, is just a reaction to the drop in glucose levels. I don't always have these symptoms, but it can happen.
Avatar n tn Hormones control the menstrual cycle in a woman. Higher hormon levels generally will effect blood glucose levels. Some women find their blood glucose rises considerably, while others do not notice a difference. In some women, blood glucose levels are lower before and during their periods. Each woman needs to discover her own pattern. I think she needs to figure out how her body works. She is young and is just learning how her body reacts to this. I hope this was helpful.
