non stress test during twin pregnancy

Does anyone know what non stress testing is and when it should start in a twin pregnancy? I'm going on 28 weeks and my doctor mentioned it way back at 22 weeks but I have not had any yet....hmm..

I am 40 + 2 as of today. I have a non stress test in the morning and was wondering what exactly do they do and how long does it usually take?

I've had a non-stress test done during my pregnancy. It's really easy and a bit boring. You go in, they hook you up to this machine and monitor baby movements and their heartbeat after.

I had a scan at 5wks 6dys and the doctor said i have 2 sacs, one is collapsed with hemorrhagic material in it and the other is empty. He seems to conclude that it is a non viable twin pregnancy. I am 35 years old and have had 2 plain sailing previous pregnancies. Is there a possibility that the empty sac can somehow develop into a normal foetus? Have another scan scheduled in a weeks time but i'm going mad!!

Just wondering when do they usually do the non stress test I dnt remember how far along I was when I got it with my 1st

I eat b4 I go in and drink during the whole test but it doesnt help like it should. Neither do the pep-talks! Lol anyone have any ideas how I can get these appts. Over with quicker? The hrs at the hospital are killing me. Ive had biophysical profiles done and everything looks great so I know hes fine. Help....

I was so afraid of having my twins early because my mom had me and my twin sister at 32 weeks. My aunt had her twins at 28 weeks. And anyone else i knew had theres early. But im currently 36weeks and 2days with twins (: and have a scheduled c-section for September 30th.

During pregnancy they give you a non stress test and they only do so if they have probably cause that something is wrong with your health our the baby's. Do you have any medical issues like diabetes or something?

I have them because my baby has single umbilical artery. It's 2 belts that monitor if I'm having contractions and then my baby's heartbeat and movements.

In a low risk pregnancy a non stress test or stress test would only be warranted if their was a concern. However diabetics (both gestational and non) have a higher rate of stillborn babies (still rare, but better to be safe) so its common practice to keep a closer eye as the pregnancy nears the end.

Anyone have to do these twice a week during last 7 weeks of pregnancy?? How do they go? What should I expect? I start mine tomorrow... not sure what to expect?? Input??

There is a non stress test AND a stress test.... There are different reasons for both. During a non stress test they hook you up to a monitor and just keep an eye on baby's movements and heart rate... During a stress test they hook you up to a monitor but they induce contractions to see how baby reacts.

Ok so I went for my non stress test today. During it your babies heartbeat is suppose to go up and down... Well my daughters heartbeat was staying at one number which was 132.. And she wasnt moving. The doctors came in freaking me out and making it sound like she was coming today. I am 36 weeks and 2 days pregnant. They did a ultrasound to check her over and the fluid. All of that was great. They checked my cervix I dont know why but it was 2 1/2 cm and 30% effaced.

My doctor has ordered a non stress test for me if I go over my due date. I think they just want to make sure that the baby is doing well because the placenta starts to age at the end of pregnancy so they monitor the baby's heart rate for a bit to make sure the baby is getting enough nutrients and oxygen, I think it's routine.

Hello All, I had my 30 week office visit today. Everything looked real good and the doctor is really pleased with how the pregnancy is progressing. She did state that she wants me to have a non-stress test for the baby in two weeks and then again 2 weeks after that. She said it's just a precaution b/c of my age (39) and my history of m/c's (3 of them). Has anybody else had the non-stress tests done??
