I think estrogen can drop enough to stop menstruation but we still have it and then it drops more over time. I have no proof of that but that is my guess. Hot flashes over a year since my last period?

I had a period on May 26, then had my right ovary and tube removed on June 13. Still have my left ovary and tube and uterus. Still no periods, and I'm having hot flashes plus a lot of emotional angst. How long is normal? I'm in my late 40's and when I asked my Dr. about when to expect my next period he said something about my being perimenopausal - no surprise there, but my periods have been reasonably regular up until the surgery.

Hello All, I'm a 52 year old woman who is just about to start menopause. I've had 3 irregular periods this year but no bleeding in the last 2 months. In the last 3 weeks I've had hot flashes approximately every 1/2 hour night and day. Is this normal? My doctors just seem to turn a deaf ear to any mention of hot flashes. I was wondering if they could be a side effect of Nexium which I started recently, but I stopped taking it for 3 days now and still getting the flashes.

My breast are tender and I am getting hot flashes it seems. I think I could be pregnant because I have NEVER had spotting like this before and I have been light headed. I was having mild menopausal symptoms of hot flashes about twice a week, prior to removal of my right ovary due to a large endometrioma 10cm. If you have any other symptoms, get checked for any virus or other sickness, but just hot flashes is usually normal. I have them, mostly at night, and our bedroom is in the basement where it's nice and freezing. Just stay hydrated and hopefully they let up. They should go away post pregnancy. Good luck!

Sharing a bed with my husband makes it even worse! During the day I get a few hot flashes Nd for that Dr told me I need to drink more water. But no help for the night body temp.

hot flashes once or twice during the day...but severe hot flashes at night...several times....about once a month I have a period of time where they are the worse...and combined with moments of forgetting my pin number of my ATM card, not being able to quickly calculate things...forgetfulness...just for a few minutes.... exhaustion.... bloating at times.. I drink a lot of water. I do smoke...I need to quit... I think it sometimes makes it worse... I hate menopause right now...

I had my thyroid removed 2 yrs ago and am taking 137 mcg Synthroid Mon-Thur and half dose Fri-Sun. In the last month I have been dealing with almost constant hot flashes. Could there be a connection to the non thyroid condition or might something else be happening? I am 68 and way past the hot flash stage.

I will feel my heart go out of rhythm and then a horrible hot flash. Most of the hot flashes I get make me extrememly nauseous and like I'm going to pass out. I also sweat profusely. Sometimes I get the flash without feeling my heart, but the symptoms are the same. It feels like 'm having a panic attack. My scariest heart episodes have woken me from my sleep. I can't say for sure if hormones affect the heart, but from my experience I would say yes.
