new diagnosis - prostatitis. Doc gave me cipro and doxy 8 days with no result. Bactrim for 10 days, no result. As I live in Africa, I went to Portugal to get a second opinion, and the doctor gave me levo for 20 days; no result. Afterwards tried another uru, and he told it was all about the food I was I taking, had a huge diet lost 7 kilos, no result.
I have been prescribed nitrofurantoin (macrobid) for a UTI. I have a hard time swallowing pills. Can these be broken up?
It also says that the colony count of the bacteris is 1,00,000 cfu/ml. Hence, doctor prescribed some medicines like Uribid with nitrofurantoin in it, Prothiaden M, Montemac FX for allergy and Hifenac-P for fever and also Cital syrup for UTI. My mother continued the course for one week, now fever and tiredness have decreased, but the burning sensation continues. Is this mixture of tablets fine, or any other suggestion or recommendations for treating this urinary tract infection of K.Oxytoca.
PS -- I neglected to say that Macrodantin is the brand name of generic nitrofurantoin, which is the name used in the information above.
A couple of weeks later I developed a urinary tract infection. Urologist prescribed nitrofurantoin for the infection. Immediatedly after starting the antibiotic my ears gradually starting feeling clogged. Now, two weeks later, they are both very clogged (no wax buildup) and I can barely hear. Logic tells me the ear clogging is somehow connected to the nitrofurantoin. Has anyone ever experienced this or heard of this happening? Will this clogging go away by itself?

I know this was a long time ago, but I feel like I'm experiencing the neurological side effects of nitrofurantoin. It's not just a tingling in my hands, my muscles spasm and tremor in the night time. I am jolted awake sometimes. There's a fuzziness in my head that comes and goes and makes me feel like I'm going to convulse. I'm terrified that this is irreversible.
I have recently been feeling unwell and have recurring UTI’s and been on Nitrofurantoin. I also take levothyroxine for an under active thyroid.
I recently had a LFT and my ALT was 934. My GGT was 140 and bilirubin 37.
I am having an urgent scan tomorrow but the drs seem at a loss as to what is causing this? Any advice or help?
I have visited the doctor 3times and the last tested I did. He told I had almost nothing in terms of UTI and in my partner there was an indication that she had UTI, and we were both put on medication, but after the medication, I still feel the pain. We have not been meeting with my partner. And from day one, from the time I started having these pains my partner has never complained of any pains showing of any symptoms related to the infection. How can I go about this, I also did a scrotum scan.
Hi I had sex a few weeks ago and within 24 hours I had erection problems and testes shrunk . I did a gonorrea and chlamedia test both were negative . I had blood in my urine +3 not seen by the naked eye.
The doctor could see no infection so she made me do a kidney function blood test. The kidney blood test was fine . So I read online that blood can give me a Uti.
Since taking the Nitrofurantoin, my back pain comes and goes, jumps in severity, sometimes subtle, sometimes severe, my penis seems a little sore (mainly urethra) and testicle area too. Very mild though. I also get sweats (like a hot flush), shakes, random sharp itches and mild tingling in my hands. Perhaps these are side effects of the medication? I’ve read a few are possible.
As I say, urine samples all appeared normal. All blood tests also show no concern to any bodily functions.
Hello, I’ve had pain in my penis for months. It’s almost always when I’m sitting down and not as much when standing (rarely) unless I’ve sat for a while. A lot of times it hurts after peeing, but never during and not really burning just a little pain. I’ve had no lesions or any scars. No discharge or anything like that. It was severe back in early August and then calmed down a little but still painful for 2 months now.

ve also got a case of epididymitis (nuts on fire). Current antibiotic is Nitrofurantoin Macro. Urologist told me to come back in 3 months while my health and quality of life *****!!! What are some other options for treatment? Original culture was Coagulese negative Staph.
