Niaspan er generic

Common Questions and Answers about Niaspan er generic

niaspan

Avatar n tn I was also told by my pharmicist that Plavix has a generic coming out in July. Ask your pharmicist if there is a generic of Niaspan due out any time soon. And as Flycaster has stated, with the Niacin there is a flushing feeling also. It only bothered me if I didn't take an aspirin just before taking the niacin. My doctor told me about that.
Avatar n tn You can ask him to have you try Lipitor (generic) and there is now a generic Niaspan. I know because my husband is on it. You should try to change your diet to no oil and more plant based less meat or no meat and whole grains. You actually will get enough protein. No cheese because that has loads of fat. That will help with the cholesterol, blood pressure and weight. If you don't want to that is ok. I have a website you can read or a book www.drmcdougall.
Avatar m tn The vertigo disappeared the next day until 4 months later where I’m back in the ER again and again CAT scan showed ok-but ER Dr. said I did a good thing by eliminating the Simvastatin, citing other problems it could cause besides vertigo down the road. So I took Simvastatin for only 1 ½ years-until the symptoms showed up. My Dr.
Avatar m tn I have already had one bad experience with another statin, Advicor, that resulted in me having permanent lymphedema in my ankles and legs. Now I am unsure about Niaspan. I would appreciate any comments on Niaspan please. Thanks.
Avatar n tn I have searched the literature and have not found any articles linking Niaspan with any form of cancer. Niaspan is just niacin, one of the B vitamins, and as far as I can tell, is not cancerous in the dose given in Niaspan. As for your other question whether a five year study can demonstrate a drug-cancer connection, it would depend partly on the study design. The strength of the association between cause (the drug) and effect (cancer) would depend on how the evidence is gathered.
Avatar f tn Wonder if someone can help, have all symptoms of throid storm except fever, went to ER five days ago or so, TSH 137 -DR changed RX from 125 mcg to 25 mcg gave me genric for levoxyl. Went to a MD 2 days ago,s I never had before, throat hurt, pressure behind eyes, dizzy "bad" it was doc I've never been to before.
7052683 tn?1392938795 He was also on Niaspan and only gets the flushing. But he had to go down to every other day on Niaspan. So, you may have to do something like that. If you are on a very high dose of Niaspan then less common side effects can be fever, diarrhea, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, headache and rash. But my husband is on 500mg with no problem. I don't know what they consider a high dose. The Niaspan is only really for lowering your Triglycerides not the cholesterol.
Avatar m tn I'm new here and want to find out what people think about the new research on Niaspan. I can't figure out how to filter my search results by date so that I just get recent results.
Avatar n tn He knows I eat healthy but that I have eliminated temporarily (for last 6 months) exercise due to scare associated possible lung cancer diagnosis (mentally I just do not want to work out - yet). He has recommended Niaspan (500). I can find zero information on the web about reducing CRP with any prescription drug. Do other doctors look to reduce CRP levels w/Niaspan - a drug designed to improve CHOL and Triglyceride levels?
Avatar n tn Well, it depends on what kind of medication you are on. I am taking Niaspan for cholestoral and these are the side effects of it. When your body have enough of these vitamins, it flushes out of body like this. It is advised by proffessionals to take an aspirin half an hour before taking Niaspan to avoid this flush. In my case, I simply stopped taking Niaspan and seek alternative from my doctor. It is always good to see doctor in such cases. I hope this is helpful to you.
Avatar n tn My MD & I have been trying for about 5 years now to raise my HDL (I have family history w/father dying of heart attack at 48) .Niaspan only raised it nominally, & now he wants to try Crestor.....Are statins good for raising HDL?...If one can keep their LDL down low enough say under 80, is HDL still significant?....Except for HDL, my other numbers are good...I'm non-smoker, & ideal weight, & active.....
Avatar m tn My question is what is the best medication for extended relief. The doc has me on 10/325 generic Percocet and 15mg of morphine sulfate. I am still in constant pain and my next appointment is 2 days from now. Is there a possible increase in dosage that might help or should I ask for another med?
Avatar m tn I take Niaspan which is an extended release form of niacin. Niaspan will decrease your LDL and triglycerides and increase your HDL. I would not change your niacin dose w/o talking to your doctor about it. Decreasing the dosage could decrease your HDL. I was taking 1500 mg of Niaspan at one point for about 7 months My HDL was around 42-44 for 3 measurements. It then drop to 32. My cardiologist immediately bumped my Nispan dosage to 2000 mg and my HDL went to 50 a year later.
225237 tn?1333138999 I recently started on metformin Er 500 mg at dinner. I have only taken it for for days.....I've been experiencing nausea, indigestion, frequent bowel movements. Has anyone else experienced this?? I'm so afraid of getting lactic acidosis!!!! The symptoms sound similar so how do you know which it is??!! Any help an advice would be appreciated!
214864 tn?1229715239 I would contact my prescribing doctor immediately if you take this generic form - Metoprolol Succinate ER. ======================================================== Latest News: FDA Finds Fault with Generic Toprol XL -- Problems Reported Earlier by ConsumerLab.com (Date Posted: 8/28/2008) On August 12, 2008, the U.S. FDA sent a letter to Sandoz Inc. warning of violations in its manufacture of Metoprolol Succinate ER tablets and other drug products.
Avatar m tn If you do want to ask your doctor about trying Opana ER you should know that the generic is much less effective than the brand. Both the brand and generic have the same active ingredient, oxymorphone in extended release form; however, the generic uses inferior time release technology that increased my pain levels significantly 6 hours after dosing.
1378325 tn?1285346625 Hi, I get my prescriptions through Express Scripts and they recently contacted my doctor about a generic for Effexor ER called Venlafaxine. The problem is, I now take the extended release Effexor and the supposed generic for this med is $70 more than the brand name Effexor ER. How could a generic subsitute be more expensive than the brand name, just doesn't make any sense to me. If I chose to take the non-extended release generic Venlafaxine, it would be $80 cheaper than the Effexor ER.
Avatar n tn I have been on 20 mg of simvastatin and 3000 mg niaspan now my ck levels have went from 60 to 295 i could hardly walk .will my levels come down if i lower dose. and reverse damage. i have 12 stents .the rest of my blood work is fine.
Avatar f tn Hey everyone....I am weening off of Ultram and My doctor switched me over to MS contin ER. (Morphine Sulfate extended release.) Does anyone know anything about this drug? I've never even heard of it before. I switched over from the Ultam to the MS and I did not get any withdrawals. Now my doc is slowly decreasing my dose of MS. Any info on this med would really, really be appreciated. Thanks!!!
874521 tn?1424116797 Hi, Oxycontin is the brand name for the medication and yes it is extended release. Now the oxycodone ER is the generic version and if that's listed on your bottle then your most likley taking the generic version. Your pharmacist will tell you which generic brand your taking. As far as I know only malikroft is allowed to make the generic form of oxycontin. When you get a generic your RX bottle will list the name brand and the generic name under it.
72351 tn?1281992542 She wrote me a prescription for the Depakote, which now has a generic. Unfortunately the generic Depakote is not like the Er in the fact that I must take it 3 x per day instead of all at once at bedtime. Now I have noticed major hair loss!!! I didn't notice any hair loss before on the Depakote ER but I sure do now! To make matters worse, I already have herriditary hair loss and my hair was already way too thin on top.
Avatar n tn In an effort to increase my HDL, I take Niaspan & Zocor.....Recently my MD upped the Zocor from 5mgl. to 10mgl.... Last couple weeks, have had more trouble sleeping, usually waking up after a dream (not nightmares, but somewhat vivid dreams)...I've checked out few sites, & saw that statins can cause sleep problems....Have others here had sleep problems while taking a statin?........
Avatar f tn I have been DX hypothyroid for over 10 years and take Synthyroid started taking generic brand days before symptoms started. TSH in ER 6.07. Followed up with PCP she changed me back to brand name synthyroid same dose. The chest discomfort dimissed but the fatigue and shakiness in very random one day I will feel good the next day back to the shakiness with scapular discomfort and fatigue. I am wondering if others have felt the randomness in the feeling.
Avatar m tn Don't wait for your cardiologist, if the pains return and they feel the same as when you had your MI only milder, GO TO THE ER. Why would you take a chance, you've been there before and it simply is not worth the risk. Go get help, please. Good luck and let us know how you're doing, I'll be looking for a response............
