Niacin urine color

Common Questions and Answers about Niacin urine color

niaspan

Avatar n tn Niacin is a B vitamin and is used in reducing cholesterol. A common side effect of Niacin is flushing. The flushing makes your skin red in color and sometimes warm to the touch. Sometimes, taking an aspirin before taking the niacin can prevent the flushing. Don't do this without discussing it with your doctor. Drinking hot drinks or alcohol can also increase the flushing, so it is best to avoid these when taking the niacin. Also, niacin should not be taken with certain drugs.
Avatar f tn I agree that you've gotten good answers here. Color of urine whether dark or light or clear does not give any clue to whether you are pregnant or not but is rather a sign of your state of hydration. You've already taken pregnancy tests and they are negative. You may just be late. Wait another week and see if your period shows up and if not, then retry testing for pregnancy.

2147300 tn?1369689688 Prior to dx I had noticed a change in the color of my urine. It was of a darker tone and had a particular odor about it. I had recognized this prior to my first dx and tx back in 2003. I sensed something wrong and kept track of changes in diet and habits but could not put my finger on it. I suspected elevated alt and ast as the color would be dead liver cells my body was ridding.

Avatar f tn After reading the Wiki article about Pellagra it also says Niacin treats it. The photo on the Wiki article is way more extreme than what my sons skin looks like. There is no itching pain or peeling. Do you think adding Niacin in his diet would somehow help. He gets plenty of Trytophan, turkey sandwiches are usually his after dinner snack.
Avatar f tn Are you taking any medications, either prescription or OTC that contain niacin? Niacin can cause flushing which happens when our blood vessels expand (which niacin is used for) and the blood rises closer to our skin which can cause really intense sensations of heat, extreme itching and a deep red "flush" of color to our skin which is usually limited to the upper portion of our bodies...........chest, neck, arms and head. I'm afraid that pretty much sums up my guesses.

Avatar n tn The presence of protein changes the surface tension of the water in the urine, and result in bubbles or foamy urine. You may want to check to see is the protein loss is significant and 'means' anything. Sometimes it does, other times it may not. A quick check with a urine dipstick can help assess for significant protein loss in the urine.

If there is a chance then if everything else is negative, then lupus may need to be tested for. Take care!

In some cases slight oxygen deficiency causes lactic acid build-up because of anaerobic metabolism, which causes the pain.
Avatar f tn Yes :)) urine that is a yellowish color or a dark yellow color is not good that normally means you are dehydrated or you have some sort of infection. Yellowish colored urine is how I always knew I was dehydrated, sick or had an infection (uti) which if I'm not mistaken are also common in pregnancy.
