Nexium cost per pill

Common Questions and Answers about Nexium cost per pill

nexium

Avatar n tn Without Nexium my ulcerated esophagus would never have healed. In fact, I was taking 2 40 mg doses per day and Nexium is not ordinary omniprazole it is a derivitized/substitutes omniprazole and it does function differently. Nexium does spend a lot of money advertizing it as an "alternative." Then they back it up by giving you a card on their site and regardless of insurance coverage, if you use the card, no matter how much the doctor prescribes you, your cost is $18.
148588 tn?1465778809 For example, Gilead’s own Stribild, a costly new four-in-one combo treatment for HIV/AIDS, is $80 per pill. At $1,000 per pill, Sovaldi costs 1,100% more than Stribild, the most-expensive AIDS combo drug on the market. In addition, Gilead is charging a higher price for this drug even though the cost to produce it is small. According to industry reports, Gilead produces Sovaldi for approximately $1.00 per gram (with only 10 to 30 grams needed to successfully treat patients with Hepatitis C).
Avatar n tn My company is changing insurance and the nexium is going to rise considerably in cost when we swich to cigna. I need a cost effective alternative to discuss with my doctor. The Nexium has been very effective for me. I wish I didn't have to change.
Avatar f tn Is anyone out there taking Teva's version of Nexium? I'm to the point now where I can't get the brand. I was astonished to see that this generic version's co-pay through my insurance is so high! $80 for 90 days. I could understand this price for the brand, but for generic? Anyway, I had tried this version as I had to with my last insurance, it and I didn't do as well on it. I tried it for a week. I an wondering if it was just my imagination.
Avatar f tn Has anyone else experienced only nexium working? I have used all other medicines and they don't seem to work, but now my insurance company wont pay for it.
Avatar m tn how do i get lower doses of nexium of I'm trying to wean off
Avatar m tn I know some people begin with 1 Nexium per day, and then if they become immune to that, they then move on to 2 Nexium a day (usually one pill 30 min. before Breakfast and Dinner respectively). How often is this the case? If this is the case, then why don't we just start out with 2 Nexium a day? My acid is at it's worst when I wake up in the morning. If I take 1 pill before Breakfast as my Gastro.
612551 tn?1450022175 My reason is driven mainly by the fact the Tartrate is about 1/6th the cost of the Suc (ER). That said, I wonder if I will not in fact have a more "level" medication concentration taking the 25 mg twice rather than the 50 mg ER once a day. I think there is a good possibility that I'll have a more uniform medication concentration (on average) taking the Tartrate twice a day. Or, I have my doubts about how well a ER holds up over 24 hours.
Avatar m tn I have Barrett's Esophagus. I am currently taking Nexium 40mg. I am looking for ways to reduce the cost. Do you think Prilosec will work the same? However, I don't want to take any chances with the Barrett's Esophagus. Thank you!!
679466 tn?1247006054 Dr. Kini, thank you for the informative response. The problem with your last sentence "it is better to use PPI when you have symptoms (on demand) rather than continuous therapy" is that i personally experience discomfort if i miss 1 day of taking a pill. The discomfort is borderline pain/heartburn, etc., so my goal is to not get to the point where i experience this.....my goal is to avoid the discomfort....thus, the preventative method of taking 1 pill per day.....
Avatar m tn I saw this yesterday, printed it out and have read it several times. And I'll probably have to read it several more before I can completely wrap my head around it. The good news, as I see it, is the clarity it brings to the subject of actual cost of new medications to payers. "The $1000 dollar pill" or the "$1125 pill" has gotten so much play in the media. (Doctors aren't immune to this nor are many who work in the insurance industry.
Avatar f tn 5mg) here and there (very seldom) to additionally help me get through a night of sleep-generally I only take 3/4 of that pill. My doctor does a battery of blood tests once per year to make sure my body is handling everything ok. During my last visit, I was told that my white blood cell count was slightly low (followed by "nothing to worry about) and that my liver was 2 points above normal, but that what they look for is more like 40 to 80 points over normal as being a problem.
Avatar f tn Sorry I don't have Kaiser health insurance, maybe someone else here does, but those prices sound about right. Those are your "co-pay costs", the "actual cost" is thousands of dollars per month as you have heard. I had Blue Cross of California during treatment and my co-pay cost were similar to the prices you quoted.
Avatar f tn Everything is relative-- but yes, that is a large dose. Consider that Percocet tablets-- medications used to treat surgical pain in dose ranges of 1-2 every 4 hours-- contain 5-10 mg of oxycodone. You are taking the equivalent of 70 of the 5 mg tabs every day, when the dose after major surgery would be on the order of 5-10 tablets per day. The largest dose I've seen in a patient addicted to oxycodone is about 700 mg per day.
Avatar n tn ve had acid reflux for about 10 years - started taking aciphex, then switched to prilosec, and now have been taking Nexium for 5 years or so. By taking one of those magical pills each morning, i'm able to eat anything and feel great. But if i forget to take a pill, i'll feel it (usually about 35 hours without taking a pill). I recently met with my primary care doctor, and he said it was dangerous to be taking Nexium long-term, every day. Is this true?
Business woman2 im on nexium 40 mg caps, once a day, my question is, can you still have symptoms even though you are taking the med's i have been on nexium 2 years, starting to have a little reflux even though i took my pill
Avatar m tn Hi...many of the meds for GERD/acid reflux deplete our system of the vitamins and minerals we need....they can also make it difficult to absorb them in a natural way or by supplementation..... But, u should be looking to ur PCP to do blood labs to make sure all levels r where they need to be. Magnesium and vit D go hand in hand and many times the drs will say vit d is low but not too many will say u also need the magnesium.... So ask what dose might be good for u to add....
Avatar f tn I'll answer my own question just in case someone else has the same problem ... yes, Nexium can turn stools dark. I went down from 2 N to 1 N a day last night laand stools are fine again.
Avatar f tn I am a 37 year old female with a normal weight BMI. I have been on 40 mg Nexium since 5/2017 for GERD and LPR. I started slowly cutting down November 2017. I am currently on 30 mg Nexium and really struggling. I don’t have heartburn or voice issues again, but I have a dull ache between my shoulder blades. It has gotten worse and worse the more I cut down on the Nexium. Sometimes it is almost debillitating and I feel scared of esophagus issues.
Avatar f tn I am currently ONLY on Nexium 40mg a day and I take the pill in the morning, and no matter how much I manage to drink, by 2am the next morning I wake up because my tongue and mouth are BONE dry! I can't find any answers other than this being a side effect. Hopefully it's not damaging my liver or sucking water out of my system!
Avatar f tn One word - YES. Nexium is also called the purple pill of misery. High and low stomach acid both cause acid reflux but insufficient stomach acid is the most common cause. For 25 years my mother was on acid blocking drugs (she was told she had high acid) and almost died from the side effects. She is now free of GERD, LPR and is 95% improved with gastritis.
