Nexium and ulcer

Common Questions and Answers about Nexium and ulcer

nexium

Avatar n tn If you've been on the nexium and you've changed your diet to a GERD-friendly one and the symptoms continue, have you been scoped yet? If not, it's time to ask your doc for more testing. Ask to be tested for H. pylori and have an upper endoscopy done to get an idea of what your esophagus, stomach and duodenum look like. All PPIs have side-effects that can be more serious than weight gain.
Avatar m tn I know anxiety is a common symptom with an ulcer and having upper abdominal pain both front and back would suggest a perforated ulcer or pancreatitis. And since you're already taking nexium, decent chance it could be h.ploryi since nexium doesn't cure an h.ploryi ulcer (which requires antibiotics to fix) Are your stools dark? That would also suggest ulcer, sometimes also causes insomnia..perforated would explain the upper back pain as it's worked deep into your stomach layer..
Avatar f tn Well, yeah, but the remedies for an ulcer are different than the remedies for other gastric problems. It's hard to believe your mother about this, though, because as you probably know, an ulcer if not treated can eventually become a bleeding ulcer, which isn't wonderful -- I had one many years ago. I thought I had one like you and saw my doctor, who said I was too young to have one and let me go.
Avatar n tn Stomach acid is essential for digestion, absorption of nutrients, and killing off bacteria, fungus, parasites. My mother was on nexium for almost 6 years and almost died from the serious side effects. Today she takes betaine HCL with pepsin supplements to increase stomach acid and digestive enzymes to help with with digestion and is free from severe GERD and severe LPR. Digestive enzymes are helpful for both high and low stomach acid.
Avatar n tn When it happened again after few years they put me on Nexium permanently and then even on Nexium I started getting pains for the past 8-9months and they did a series of tests again and couldn't find anything. Then we went to another GI specialist and he stopped my Nexium and then I had GI bleeding again. It is very rare to have a recurrent bleeding episode without any apparent cause except excessive acid. Do you have any explanation and remedy for this condition?
Avatar n tn i had an endo and found hiatal hernia ,small ulcer, moderate gastritis, stricture which was dilated and mucosa chroic imflamation of esohagus. im on nexium 40 mg 2xd which am suppose to lesten but when i do it pain comes back in upper stomach .on this for 4 mo now .i get diahrea now with it.
Avatar m tn put me on a high dosage of antibiotics a month later and I am on Nexium 40mg once a day. It has been 6 months and I still have some hunger type pains and nausea after I eat. A bit better but not any worse. No vomiting / high temps / blood in stool. I do have yellow stools which I assume are caused by all the tums and nexium I am taking. I have GI appointment at the end of the month. Is it possible to have a stomach ulcer for 6 months?
Avatar m tn I infrequently have stomach pain, pop a nexium, and its like a magic bullet. Not only cures the pain, but I have the best dreams and generally well being feeling. I was thinking that the stress of life leads to acid production and that the nexium fixes (tricks) the brain into thinking more positive thoughts or whatever, thereby stopping the cycle of stress and acid production. Anyway, it really works well for me.
Avatar f tn I'd double check because nexium can cause nausea and stomach pains ! I know what your going through though, i'm 19 and had acid reflux all of my life. I was switched from medication to medication and to me i just felt that the medicines would work for a while then id just get stupid side effects so i just stopped taking them and watch what i eat and i've actually been doing a lot better. Best of luck to you ! I would also get your gallbladder checked as a precaution!
Avatar n tn Hi, I was also diagnosed with the same thing and my Dr gave me Kapidex which is similar to Nexium. After 2 days on the pill, I starting having side effects of diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting for almost 3 days. They then switched me to Protonix which I am glad to say is working very well. So like CalGal said, it works differently with different people. Your daughter just needs to find one that works best for her. Good Luck!
Avatar n tn I am having another episode and am extremely nauseous, have slowed bowel movements, acid reflux and pain above the belly button. My doctor suspects an ulcer flaring up and has given me nexium to treat. I will see her in a week. Nexium is not having much effect. What is a differential diagnosis and what test can I have to deny or confirm ulcers? Is it possible to have multiple ulcers? I also suffer from tremors and am not on any medication except for nexium.
Avatar f tn He experimented with different proton pump inhibitors and finally we hit on Protonix at bedtime, Zantac 150 AM and PM. Good luck and God bless. Keep me posted. Also, my Zollingers is well controlled now, The only time it gets bad is when I don't take my meds....bad!
Avatar f tn So Prilosec and Nexium fall into the class of proton pump inhibitors. Do not self prescribe and I would suggest you to follow up with a gastroenterologist for a proper diagnosis and for titration of the dosage for you. Take care!
560753 tn?1216052052 After that he prescribed me with Nexium, Prilosec and that was it. I was ok for a month or so and then I developed constipation. So I was switching from diarrea to constipation on and off. The burping continue and it seems to happend before I get my period. Is 5:41 am and I got up because of gas in my stomach and diarrea. I haven't being able to have a deasent night of sleep for the past 4 days. That happens every month. And I just don't know what to do.
Avatar f tn I HAVE HAD LUPUS SINCE THE AGE OF 15 AND I AM NOW 25- MY LUPUS HAS BEEN IN REMISSION FOR ALMOST 4 YEARS NOW, BUT I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING PERSISTENT VOMITING AND DIARRHEA FOR THE PAST 2 MNTHS. i HAVE BROUGHT IT UP TO MY DR AND HE STATES THAT MANY PEOPLE WITH LUPUS CAN DEVELOP STOMACH ULCERS, ESPECIALLY IN MY CASE, SINCE I HAVE TAKEN PREDNISONE FOR 10 YEARS+.
1201626 tn?1265421975 I have a stomach ulcer with H-Pylori and i want to know what i can and cannot eat? everything i try seems to irritate my stomach. Recently for the past few days i've been getting stronger pains and been really dizzy. I dont drink or smoke, i try my best to eat none acidic foods, such as no- fruit, no juices no tomatoes or paste, no lemons so yea basically nothing with high acidity. and im on nexium. any idea what i can do to help my stomach from hurting?
Avatar n tn The usual meds (Tagamet and Nexium) did nothing for me. The docs suspected a stomach ulcer (which is usually treated with antacid meds and a combination of antibiotics, but also takes time to heal) or a reflux disorder. I still don't have a diagnosis, but the endoscopy did tell the docs that it wasn't an ulcer, hernia, abscess or other infection.
Avatar f tn He reckons my stomach lining is inflamed due to much acid and put me on nexium 40 for 2 weeks and then on nexium 20. As I got pain I took a 40 instead of 20 yesterday and expierienced side affects pretty civir: nausea, digestion 3 times worse then before, gas, headaches. I was relieved after going to toilet. Today I didn't take any and got a different brand of 20mg anti acid over the counter as my doctor is on holidays till next week, which I took now. I am seeing a specialist next week.
Avatar f tn All these foods have a habit of irritating the stomach. try to avoid them and see if that helps. If not, go to the pharmacy and pick up some nexium and see if that helps.
Avatar m tn pylori causes gastritis and gastric/duodenal ulcer and can cause, stomach burning, bloating, burping and heartburn. H. pylori doesn't affect lymph nodes. If Pariet causes some many side effects you should consider to change it. There's a lot of acid-blocking drugs available. You should soleve this swelling issue also.
Avatar f tn I had a scope done and it showed severe gastritis with a small ulcer. I was put on nexium results for H. Pylori were negative. Symptoms improved but only for a couple of weeks. Once again I am vomiting and no appetite. I have lost over 30lbs without trying. 6 months after the first scope I just had another one done. This showed that in less then 6 months I now have 6 large ulcers, but none in the duodenum. Biopsies were negative once again for H. pylori and celiac disease.
20830596 tn?1554933789 Hello, has anyone ever taken PPIs or acid blockers (such as Prilosec, Prevaid, Nexium, Protonix, Zantac, Pepcid, etc) & had an increase or randomly started having OCD or anxiety? I had peptic ulcer a while back (not caused by h. pylori), & all of these meds seem to make my OCD almost intolerable. I thought the issue could have been that they were making my medications not absorb properly, but it looks like these meds actually cause temporary changes in the brain for some people?
Avatar n tn last year I had chest pain, flushed face and felt agitated, I was checked out I have early Barrets and a ulcer with HP, I completed a course of antibiotics and was put on Nexium, 6 months later I was feeling the return of chest pain , flushed face and felt agitated went back to the Dr and again had HP back I completed a 2 week course of antibiotics with Pepto bismal also Nexium.
Avatar m tn well since then my stomach has been out of whack, the last yr i have lost 50 plus lbs i have chronic gas and pain when i eat i get these pains in my chest about 1 to 2 hrs after i eat there are sharp and suddle, i am on a bland diet i exercise reguarly also i ahve a problem with severe constipation at times unable to go for 5 -6 days at a time i ahve been told i have a ulcer and been put on nexium no antibiotics at all i get pains under my ribs on the right and left side i have no h-pylori and
Avatar f tn I did not supplement my Ibuprofen ingestion with an acid reducer (Pepcid, Nexium) and after 4 months developed one peptic, esophageal ulcer and several erosions (ulcer precursors) in my upper GI. My GI doctor prescribed Nexium twice a day and is confident the GERD is NSAID induced and that my lesions will be healed in 12 weeks.
