Avatar m tn Nurse advised me to take ZIDOLAM-N as PEP for 28 days. After continuing for 3 days i visited a doctor and he told me that Nevirapine should not be used for PEP but since i already started the PEP, he advised me to continue the same medication and asked to monitor closely the side effects of the drug. Now today Friday i am experiencing some pain in the upper abdomen. Is there any possibility that i can change the PEP drug to avoid nevirapine, please Suggest?
Avatar f tn All he has to do is put his arm around me and I cringe. I know it has something to do with hypersensitivity. The one thing that is strange is that, when I take a shower or a bath or wash dishes, I need the hottest water I can stand. Any ideas? Btw, it isn't pain, just creepy crawly. I take mirapex due to the fact that all the other restless legs meds I've tried don't seem to work.
Avatar m tn I am going to the US in 2 days, if I cannot find a way to get pep here, could I take his ARVs just until then as a temporary measure? He says he takes nevirapine and tenofivir/lamivudine blend. Any advice really appreciated! If my risk is very low I would prefer not to take pep but I suspect I may be best advised to do so. If it makes a difference, I am prone to have a tiny amount of blood(I think from tears) on toilet paper when I use the bathroom so that may make it more risky? Thanks!
Avatar f tn In patients with documented hypersensitivity reactions after DES implantation, the reaction could be due either to medical therapy associated with stent implantation or to the DES itself. Several components of the DES could be responsible for the hypersensitivity reaction. These include the polymer coating, the drug (rapamycin for CYPHER and paclitaxel for TAXUS), or the stent itself.
779627 tn?1235845890 I have been diagnosed with hypersensitivity pneumonitis. In 2004, I drove the length of US 95 from Maine to North Carolina. In southern Virginia, I stayed with friends in a cabin near the Great Dismal Swamp. Two days later, in Manhattan, we ate a late lunch near the WTC site. I ate my calamari. Both hands started to itch. Soon, both hands were covered with blood blisters. I had developed a fever. I was admitted to the Norwalk, CT hospital with a high fever.
Avatar f tn All we seem to know is that I seem to have some sort of hypersensitivity in that part of my throat. Codein tablets (30mg) will temporarily give some relief - but they lose their effectiveness after too much use? It is possibly a genetic weakness - given that my mother had the same cough. She died of cancer 30 years ago but it had nothing to do with her cough. I'm so sick of coughing and am desperate for a cure.
Avatar n tn Group I (n = 12) with no hypersensitivity to mercury and Group II (n = 27) with hypersensitivity to mercury. Amalgam fillings were removed from the oral cavities of 15 patients with hypersensitivity to mercury (Group IIA) and left in place in the remaining 12 patients (Group IIB). The laboratory markers of AT, anti-TPO and anti-Tg autoantibodies, were determined in all groups at the beginning of the study and six months later.
17020225 tn?1455749597 t help by my next checkup in a few weeks that we would probably need to do a test for hypersensitivity. What kind of test is done to check for this visceral hypersensitivity?
Avatar n tn It is a Type III Hypersensitivity reaction to proteins derived from an animal source,as a result of reaction to anti-bodies inoculated serum, given to prevent infection as a form of vaccination. So if you had recent vaccination done or undergone any antibiotic treatment or severe sunburn in the past, may actually help you to eliminate the cause for your symptoms. Its not really good to make you anxious mentioning the name Serum Sickness which may not be the cause in your case.
Avatar n tn I am still suffering from several teeth aching, hypersensitivity to hot and cold, and can only chew soft foods. Oh, and yes, I am still having hypersensitivity to touching and sound of certain materials such as, cotton, carpeting, and styrofoam.
Avatar n tn For at least two years, I have experienced periodic hypersensitivity in my ankles. Simply moving the hair on the area feels very painful as if the hair is being pulled out. It started on my right ankle and a year later started happening on my left as well. Presently, it has now started happening on my left thigh. There isnt much hair on my thigh, so it isn't painful, but instead just extremely sensitive.
Avatar n tn It is possible that the nerves may be severed during the excision biopsy procedure. It is also possible that the hypersensitivity in your nipple area that you are experiencing could be secondary to fibrosis and wound healing. It will resolve over time. If it persists or worsens, you should go back to your doctor for evaluation. Take care.
Avatar f tn I am not sure if the issue that brings me here has anything to do with above mentioned illnesses, but I had to mention them. I have, for a long time, had hypersensitivity issues, which have worsened as I have aged (I am only 28 though.) I notice it with sounds, and loud voices, they seem to hurt my head, and make me flinch. I heard that can go along with Fibro though, so I figured that was it. The worst part I have never even shared with my docs because I was worried about sounding nuts.
Avatar m tn I have not heard of that one myself unless one is having an adrenal crisis - then headaches, really bad headaches can happen. Perhaps you are also having migraines as well?
Avatar f tn My son who is 27 also is a constant eye rubber would be very interested to hear anybody’s thoughts on this please. I find it hard to explain why this occurs.
Avatar m tn Patients with chronic or recurrent idiopathic urticaria and those with atopic disease represent groups at increased risk of nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug hypersensitivity. Mild hypersensitivity reactions to acetaminophen and/or ibuprofen may precede subsequent, more-severe adverse reactions. Risks and benefits of continued use of nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs in these children should be carefully considered.

Avatar n tn Hi beelady, Atopy is due to hypersensitivity and not due to immunodeficiency. Likewise UC is due to inflammatory process and immune activation and not immunodeficiency. Atopy is due to Type I hypersensitivity and UC does not come under this group. So atopy and UC are not related. ================================================================ The information provided is for patients’ education only and is not a medical advice.
