He does not know his viral load count though as for some reason he was never tested for that(he is from a developing country and they never offered that test, he only knows his CD4 count). I am assuming his viral load is very low after a couple of years of meds?
Also I really do not know how I could get pep here, neither he or I speak Spanish and English is not spoken here at all except in hotels.

I read a paper that showed a group of 70 HIV sufferers with one or more skin infection, yet the average(mean) CD4 count was around 650! How is it that HIV sufferers are getting these opportunistic infections even though their CD4 is pretty much normal? I thought that it was purely CD4 levels that dictated the health of someone with HIV, not the fact that they have the virus itself. It doesn't make sense to me.
My hiv test is negative , but my dr has advised me to test after 5 months for a true result.So far my full blood count is normal however my cd4 count is 449 and cd8 count is 276 -i am worried that this may be on the lower end of the scale because because cd4 can be as high as 1900 and cd8 up to 800.
On the form given to me by the dr / lab a cd4 count of 350 warrants Anti retroviral treatment, and my count is not very far from that.

I cant believe you being a doctor can post a question like this. Your CD4 count has nothing to do with HIV, that count can go down for numerous reason, I am sure you know the reasons if you are a real doctor. If you speculate an HIV risk, you need an HIV test and not a CD4 count. And, you do mention that you have already tested negative on an ELISA preceeding the window period. That conclusively proves that you are negative. Please find the real cause, HIV is not your problem.

However my cd4 count has gone down from 857 to 454 in the last one month. However, the percentage change is minimal from 43.2% to 42.7%.

My other concern is that I want to have a baby. When is it safe for me to fall pregnant ? Will I fall pregnant still taking ARV"s?
