Avatar n tn My hairdresser told me that dandruff shampoo was making my flakes much worse. I switched to Neutrogena moisturizing shampoo and conditioner and my scalp has been salvaged as well as my hair. I still occasionally have flakes but they are few an far between.
Avatar m tn Also i used a scalp shampoo for some symptoms like psoriasis etc, and it made my hair feel sticky and i don't think i have those symptoms.
Avatar f tn Hello, From the symptoms this problem of dry itchy scalp can be due to dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis. You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium. Avatar n tn after using any anti dandruff shampoo like clinic plus, head & shoulder my head ache starts. why? i use other shampoo also but only anti dandruff starts my head ache. i want to know which chemical affecting me?
Avatar n tn Hi, The best way to treat dandruff is to use a dandruff shampoo. Look for shampoos with ingredients such as zinc pyrithone, salicyclic acid, coal tar, selenium silfide, or ketoconazole. All of these ingredients have been shown to work on dandruff; to use the shampoo, apply it to your scalp and hair, rub vigorously, and allow it to sit for five minutes so that the ingredients can work before rinsing it out.
Avatar n tn With regards to your dandruff, daily washing with an antidandruff shampoo may help decrease oil and cell buildup. There are plenty of dandruff shampoo available in the market today. Not all dandruff shampoos are alike, so you may need to experiment with them to find the one that works best for you. When shampooing, it is important to rinse well. If it still persists, stronger prescription shampoos may be indicated. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar f tn ve heard awful things about head and shoulders brand so i choose not to use it. I just use a good moisturizing shampoo because dandruff is caused from your scalp being dry.
Avatar n tn Hello, I've been having this dandruff problem for few years now. I thought shampooing could resolve this issue, especially by using Head&Shoul*** shampoo or Cle** shampoo. Do you have tips on how to get rid of them? Natural and the cheapest way if possible, coz some of my dandruff sometimes results in minor wound like patches.
Avatar f tn She prescribed me 4 different types of shampoos/treatments. One was just like a tar shampoo like Neutrogena T-Gel. One was a see-thru red shampoo. One smelled similar to the T-gel but was prescription strength and was a tan/pinkish color. The last one was a squirt bottle type thing to put directly on my scalp at night. Basically I alternated these treatments every week or two and it usually got better within a week and completely cleared up a month later.
Avatar m tn i am suffering from dandruff from las two months and due this only there is hair loss too. i am using NIZOLE shampoo.but it is not working.
Avatar n tn I would try using Neutrogena shampoo alternating with a dandruff shampoo. Avoid conditioner if possible. After washing hair, rinse in a basin of cool water with about a tablespoon of vinegar. Do one more rinse after that. If your city puts both chlorine and ammonia in your water system, consider getting a water filter that filters out both.
Avatar n tn Hello, It can be due to dandruff, eczema or fungal infection. Dandruff can cause either an overly dry scalp with itchy white flakes that may be waxy or greasy, or it can manifest as an oily scalp with scales. Eat a healthy diet. You can also take vit B6 and vit A and E which are good for hair and skin. Try medicated shampoos for dandruff. There are a number of over-the-counter shampoos available that can help.
Avatar f tn I am on week 11 of treatment, interferon and riba, about 2 weeks ago, my scalp started to get very itchy, I have used a variety of different shampoos for dandruff, none seem to work on helping the itch. It seems to be worse in the evening when I'm finally relaxing. Is this common and does anyone have any suggestions?

During this time I also had dandruff. This itchyness and dandruff persisted for about another 3 months, that's when I jumped on Nizoral 1%. It stopped the dandruff and the itching, but till this day I'm shedding and its very noticable. My hairloss started at the crown and has worked its way up to my hairline.

Avatar n tn The spots are not scaly. Whenever he applies a dandruff shampoo to it, it eases and goes away. He has been told that it is the dandruff that has run down to his face.Others say that it is his high alcohol consumption which is in correlation to some liver disorder. The spots tend to look like ring worm but not exactly. When the weather becomes cool, it also surfaces. What do you think this condition sounds like?
Avatar m tn I myself have had the same sort of thing lucky you had no burning it does sound like seborrhiec dermatitis using an anti dandruff shampoo such as nizorelle (costs about £5.00) contains ketocozanle which acts as an anti fungal ingredient and can also be used as a body wash (so my doc informs me) in the dry hair only formulation it uses collagen to nourish and repair the hair shaft as well as improving overall condition.
Avatar n tn What does dandruff shampoo do for the flaky dermatitis on the eyelid? Are you saying by strictly using a dandruff shampoo that will help the flaky dry skin go away on your eyelid? Or do you use the shampoo and also rub it on your eyelid during the process? Hmmm, confused.
