neurontin

Avatar f tn Has anyone had an experience with neurontin? It was prescribed for burning hands and feet and I feel very wierd and crazy..and dizzy.
9704730 tn?1405741284 It could very well be the tramadol still causing the withdrawals. I was addicted to them for a while and it took at least 30 days for the physical withdrawals to ease up, as far as the neurontin goes my dr tried it on me but I got really sick after a couple doses and had to stop taking it, sorry I couldn't be more help. Hang in there!!
1855076 tn?1337115303 I'm just curious if anyone is hearing that Neurontin is being abused? I was given this for nerve pain but couldn't tolerate it as it caused serious slurring of my words to the point people thought I was intoxicated. I also had trouble word-finding on it. But I didn't think it was something anyone abused. (Though I slurred my words, I didn't feel high or intoxicated with it; I sort of felt locked in ... I knew in my head what word I wanted but couldn't get it out.
Avatar f tn Well, I finally got my prescription filled and it is Neurontin. has anyone taken this?? I looked it up, but would love to hear from anyone who has taken it before I take it tonight. Reading about it kind of freaked me out....
Avatar f tn It is always best to check with your doctor. But since your doctor is out of town you could call a pharmacist just to verify everything. That being said I will say that you should be fine just stopping it but I would check with someone in the health field first just to be safe. I was taking about 1800mg a night for ten days while detoxing off of vicodin. I didn't feel any negative symptoms from stopping it.
Avatar f tn Please be careful with using Neurontin... my husband who is addicted to opiates has become addicted to the Neurontin as well. It may sound silly, and I don't have a ton of knowledge on drugs and such, but you can find and read countless forums with people talking about how they abuse the drug, and the horrible withdrawals they go through when running out of it.
Avatar f tn Do you feel that this is related to stopping Neurontin ??? Also, are Neurontin and Lyrica the same drug? I have been hearing this, but have not found anything to support this in my google search. Do you have any opinions about the use of Neurontin for opiate withdrawal? Nauty..........
Avatar f tn The basic question is - How long should it take to feel relief from taking Neurontin? I have been taking 3000Mg a day for about 3 weeks now and still haven't noticed any difference. A little background. I have been doctoring since April 1st for pins & needles/numbness/tightening/pain/tingling in both hands. Also, my arms and chest feel as if I have an extremely tight shirt on. The MRI revealed a spinal cord lesion at C3.
Avatar n tn ve been on several different therapies with short term success. My neurologist recently subscribed neurontin -- 300 mg 3x per day. The medication is really helping -- but I've experienced tremendous weight gain. What alternatives could I explore that would have similar success without the weight gain? Also -- when I do get break through headaches - what treatment plan would you suggest? Imitrex shot and pain med? Thank you for your direction.
Avatar f tn Looking for people's experiences with Neurontin 1) in general and 2) specifically if its helpful for withdrawal. The poll is for people's experiences using Neurontin during withdrawal - not necessarily FOR withdrawal but just if you used during. lso let me know if you feel like it, what it actually helped with. If you have other experiences with it, please comment on this post and let me know. I was prescribed it weeks ago for facial pain, but I havent filled it.
Avatar f tn I had been on it for a while and went to my eye doc for a routine exam - my eye pressures were quite elevated - in going over my medications, he told me about this possible connection, so I contacted the physician that had prescribed the neurontin. It took her a while to do some research, but she did find that it was a possible side effect of the medication and immediately took me off of it.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed Neurontin for what they are thinking are overactive nerves. I had an injury 2 years ago and am still in pain and they think it's from the nerves not having settled or still being irritated. The doc said this was the safest med he prescribes. I don't like medicine.
Avatar f tn I did get a new prescription of neurontin, and went on it for a while, but then I tappered off and have been off for a couple of weeks. I can tell that the pain is getting worse, but I hopefully will only have to deal with it for a little while because I am hoping to become pregnant. Yeah! (The last time I became pregnant everything went away and I felt better then ever, that didn't last for long after the baby was born and it came back with a vengeance, but oh well).
1689696 tn?1305819097 I am going to see my primary doc on 6/13/11 for severe anxiety/ panic attacks. I would like to know what anxiety meds I should AVOID while taking the neurontin? Thanks to all who answer.
Avatar f tn I am scared to death over this pregnancy at this time I am just about 13 and a half weeks and while the norco is a class 3, so is the neurontin but the neurontin has been known to cause pretty serious birth defects. It is not well known but there are studies out there, Neurontin is an anti seizure med. Besides the risks of birth defects with the diabetes, there are risks to myself with the diabetes and pregnancy as well.
1310633 tn?1430224091 Hi EL, I hope you will have better result with Venlafaxine (Effexor or Efexor) than you have had with Neurontin. I did try Neurontin but I too had no noticeable pain releif with it. I have not used Efexor but I can provide you with a bit of information. Efexor, if I have my facts straight was initially manufactured and used as an antidepressant and since has proven to have other actions. Neurontin and Efexor are chemically different.
1831849 tn?1383228392 I have taken gabapentin for neuropathic foot pain. It worked well for a while, in tandem with Elavil. I had no side effects, but it eventually stopped working, so I swithed to another anti-seizure med called Lyrica. Anyone else have gabapentin experience to share?
382218 tn?1341181487 Having to sleep and get up at precise times and plan your life around this is horrible, and in my opinion should be avoided if at all possible. Neurontin is not the only act in town and you're already on a high dose. Do you think it's helping at all? And does it seem to wear off at or before the times you normally would take it? There are a lot of pain meds out there. Most people with neuropathic pain are now on Lyrica, which is sort of Son of Neurontin.
1134609 tn?1269272200 I was taking a look at Lyrica, but we're going to stay away from it because of the weight gain side effect. I just dumped 50 of the 100lbs, I gained from Celexa and, because obesity runs rampant in both sides of my family, I am desperate to avoid this. I'm not over-exaggerating; 100lbs in the space of a few years; all while working out like a madman and watching my calories..
Avatar f tn I took neurontin for a while until the side affects got to be to much. Some people can take it with no problem. It helped with my nerve pain until the dosage got increased too much and I could no longer take it. I now take lyrica, it helps a lot with the burning sensations that I get, it helps with the nerve pain too. Also helps with the sensitive skin that I get where I feel like I have a sunburn but I am not.
Avatar f tn Can you please help me! I'm pregnant and been on norcos for a while now I have an rx from doc but I haven't told the obgyn and I scared to because I don't want her to just stop seeing me and I don't want to be put on methadone because I heard that's 100 times worse!!! I don't ever take more then prescribe. What's the best way to tell her?? And get her to help?? Do obgyn see this all the time??
Avatar f tn I used it also to come off methadone while pregnant... works amazing with no side effect to a forming baby...and actually made going thru wd healthier experience for myself and unborn child...it really is an amazing medication... only used it for 3 to 4 weeks then tapered down...was on 600mg(2pills) a day down to 1 pill(300mg) then no more with no problem for me or baby...don't think I could have handled the mentle part of wd without the neorotin!!! Good luck!!!
Avatar m tn t been effective so I am planning to switch to Neurontin. What is the average dose of Neurontin for pain management? More specifically, with a chronic pain level between 5-7. Is there a database for Neurontin dosage? I will be ramping to 300mg of Neurontin per day but am wondering if that's too conservative.
