Neurontin side effects vision

Common Questions and Answers about Neurontin side effects vision

Avatar f tn I took neurontin for approx 10 years. It helped with my muscle spasms a great deal. I finally developed a tolerance to it up to the maximum recommended dosage, so switched to a different med. But it worked very well for me, with low side effects. Good luck.
382218 tn?1341185087 OK, so I picked up my prescription for Neurontin and noticed in the pt info that one of the potential side effects is DOUBLE VISION. How ironic. So now I'm reluctant to start them until I can discuss this with my neurologist. I have had double vision for 4 and a 1/2 months now, and the last thing I need is anything that my halt my progress or make things worse. For those of you who take/took Neurontin, did this cause double vision for any of you?
Avatar n tn could you tell me what kind side effects have neurontin depakote? Can this madication call me depression or other mental stuff?
9704730 tn?1405744884 I still take 1200 mgs and there are days when I feel the strange side effects of Neurontin. Please include your prescribing dr in any discontinuance of your meds. Good Luck to you and go for it.
653169 tn?1303449969 I've been told the start up side effects on Neurontin are about the same as Lyrica and it took me a little less than a week for that sleepy dopey feeling to subside, and after that I felt ABSOLUTELY normal- like I hadn't taken anything whatsoever. You are on a very SMALL dose, so you'll adjust to it quickly. I'll tell you a funny story- my first week on Lyrica- I accidentally backed out of my garage when the garage door was only half way open.
Avatar f tn // Gabapentin can cause side effects that may impair your vision or reactions. Can cause rapid back and forth movement of your eyes. The definition for this can be found here. You may want to ask your doctor about Lyrica. It is more expensive but if it works for you it may be worth the extra expense.
620877 tn?1282767697 For those of you who take Gabapentin (Neurontin): Just curious what side effects you have experienced (and at what dosage), and how long they lasted? I just started this last weekend, 300mg once a day at bedtime. I am having a really hard time waking up in the morning and for the first half of the day I feel a little "loopy" or my head feels "swimmy"....if that makes any sense.....
Avatar n tn The pharmacist who helped with the process, since the doctors at the time were unreachable and the side effects were so horrendous, was on neurontin herself for pain, and told me how to do it.
Avatar f tn I've tried to reduce on a few occasions, but I really feel it, and since I don't experience any side effects from this med, I stay on the high dose. I also take 60-80mg of nortriptyline at night. I get greater pain relief with this combination of these two meds than on either of them on their own. And yes, I do notice when I miss a dose of either one. Are you taking Neurontin for neuropathic pain? You definitely have room to increase. Talk to your doc.
Avatar n tn There is a website that has reports on all the reported reactions and side effects and neurontin is one of the worst. This is not a drug to mess around with.
Avatar n tn thus I am currently @ 100mg per day.
Avatar n tn i have been on neurontin for side effects cept a bit longer sleep for the first mth..i only take it at night...they tried me on lyrica and that drug affected my sensorium..i did not tolerate it due to the slurred speech it caused and fatigue..i work full time and can not walk around like a zombie...others have had great success with lyrica when they reach the right dose..and maybe i coulda..
874521 tn?1424120397 Is there anyone that has been on this med for a long time and at a high dose? And what are the side effects of long term high doses? (other than the generically silly ones they give on some sites)...I want PERSONAL experiences..
293157 tn?1285877039 Now the gabapentine twice a day makes me tired? does gabapentin have a side effect that effects you teeth, gums.. etc..get so sore everyday for the past few days, not sure why. I though maybe one tooth, but the other parts of my mouth get sore as well? plus I'm so out of it, that I can't go outside... I'm so tired and can't seem to sit for long. I don't know if its the meds...cause the amount isn't that high... if not the meds...why is this happening?
1291268 tn?1274814522 What the others say about Lyrica blurring eyes is true, and it also causes a person to lose their balance, plus other known side effects that I do not have. But the medicine also makes me feel better in general than its cousin Neurontin. The thing about both drugs is they must be increased about three-fold in the first few months, until you reach a plateau of comfort, which most docs know this becuz it's in the literature that comes with the drug.
1415174 tn?1453246703 I am tapering off of Neurontin for that reason and would like your opinion as to how to get off of it will less side effects. I am at 500mg now per day. I am now trying 100mg per week as I get ill feeling, insomnia and anxiety. What do you all normally do?
Avatar n tn What did the savella side effects do to some people i hear they are horrible?
1490607 tn?1288383290 Has any one heard of or experienced being on Cymbalta and/or Neurontin and where the side effects suddenly became MS like symptoms after being on them for a year?
Avatar n tn My concern is with long term use and side effects of Neurontin (mid-forties male, 170 lbs). Can you please enlighten me regarding this question? Thank you in advance.
Avatar f tn This is divided into 1200mg doses, morning noon and night. I don't seem to have any side effects, for which I'm grateful.
Avatar n tn After my pain started following a car accident I was placed on Neurontin. I didn't notice any effect at all in my case, so I got off of it. I also wanted to know more so I did some research on the net (just put neurontin in any search engine you'll get lots of hits). It appears to work for pain by increasing your pain threshold. I don't recall any "bad" side effects listed. Also, Neurontin goes by the chemical name gaba pectin.
1415174 tn?1453246703 I have tapered the Neurontin to 500mg/day. This question is related to side effects that may be due to Neurontin or maybe my migraines. When I was on a higher dose of Neurontin I was getting almost daily visual disturbances in both eyes that looked like what my migraine auras look like but those are in one eye and are followed by a headache. These aura's start like a wiggly line that flutters or moves and gets stronger then disappers over about a half hour.
Avatar f tn I just started taking Lyrica 75mg 3x a day started about almost 2 weeks ago. I am confused b/c I know that Lyrica can cause some really big side effects and I can't tell if I am having w/d from detoxing off of fentanyl or is it Lyrica. I know it causes major weight gain and I don't need that. I know a girl who has been on it for a year and has my same med. problems.
1359227 tn?1282525748 I take Neurontin for nerve pain. I take 300mg, three times per day. It usually works pretty well, but sometimes I have days when it doesn't work as well. Today is one of those days, but I think that it's because I took all of my med doses late today. My schedule was all off. So that might have effected things. Normally, if I take my meds correctly on schedule I can keep the pain pretty much under control.
Avatar n tn clean scans (had one today) CA125 in the 6 to 7 range. During all of this I never had much in the way of neuropathy side effects; just post chemo day things that were expected. But now, almost 3 1/2 months after finishing my maint. I have developed neuropathy-like symptoms (sometimes intense) i.e.
1359227 tn?1282525748 It is supposed to - take the time to build up to it to reduce side effects. I have trigeminal neuralgia - I tried that, keppra and topamax. You have to see which one will work for you with the least amount of side effects. Work up to each one slowly and take the least amount possible with the most effect. It will take a while to build up and then determine if this is the medication for you - hopefully it will work, otherwise there are several other in the class to try. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I have used Lyrica for thoracic back pain and neck pain. I have found that it is a tough drug to use because of the side effects; but then it blocks a lot of the pain that I otherwise experience. While neurontin and lyrica are considered to be of the same class of drugs, they do behave in sufficiently different ways to be worth trying one if the other is not adequate. Weight gain, sedation, and motivation are the three principal side-effects that are difficult to control when I'm on lyrica.
Avatar n tn He said there was a mention in the side effects but it was so rare he did not think the rash was a side effect to Zoloft. I took myself off of it to see if the rash cleared. It has been about three weeks and the rash has decreased a lot. I would like to know more about weight gain being on Zoloft and what happens to the gain after the drug is entirely out of your system.
